What's on top of your fridge?

What colour is your hall painted? Or is it papered?

What about your DC rooms? How old are your DC and what style is their room?

How about YOUR bedroom? Your sitting room?

Me.

On top of my fridge is a collection of random crap including 2 "grow your own crystal" sets an od biscuit tin and a milk jug full of pennies...plus various detrius.

Hall walls are filthy a sort of cream colour.

Kids bedrooms stomach churning pink...one with hearts everywhere and the other slightly less offensive flowers.

Our bedroom is white and blue...boring.

Sitting room is kind of "Ikea meets Bernard Manning"....pared down and yet deeply ugly in all ways.

What's on top of your fridge? - The microwave.

What colour is your hall painted? Or is it papered? - My hall is circular with an oak tree in the middle of it. There are doors leading off at intervals. The walls are functioning as the library, but there is a bit of F + B bee wallpaper in between the rows. The floor has Spanish tiles on it.

What about your DC rooms? How old are your DC and what style is their room? - I have 4DCs. Eldest's room is blue and cream, DS2's room is honey coloured, DD's room is light blue and DC3's room is cream. (I've just realised how boring that is)

How about YOUR bedroom? Your sitting room? - My bedroom has Laura Ashley paper in it Blush The furniture's antique stuff I picked up in France and Spain and the bed's the same one my parent's had. The best thing is the windows though; lovely old Georgian ones I found in a scrap yard and added window seats to. In fact, all the windows in the house have seats.

The sitting room's quite long and faces out on to a quadrangle. Again, I love the windows; they're floor length and have shutters on that the kids painted. You can open them out in the summer and let the sun in. It's a light reddish colour with a piano at one end and the sofas at the other.

The house is a work in progress though because we built the house from scratch and it's still quite new.

oldraver · 05/02/2011 19:38

top of fridge- kitchen toweld, un-used blender/coffee maker/george foreman grill. Bottle of wineWine
Hall is mucky white anaglypta (sp) type paper, with huge leaf patterns, and large swathes torn off. (we rent- haven't got round to doing hall in 6 years Blush)

Dc rooms- Ds is 8, his room is papered in plain blue paper , with a space themed border.
DD1- is 4- her room is papered, but painted in a peachy colour , with pink furnishings.
DD2 is 5 months- her room has bright yellow walls, ans a brown carpet (it was cheap, but looks surpringly good). Most of floor covered with a rug.

Our room- grim, yellow walls, terracotta carpets. Needs decorating, can't be bothered. Mostly taken up with a massive bed and ikea wardrobes.

Sitting room- through lounge/dining room/extended bit - laminate floors, magnolia walls, 4 large brown bookcases completely covering all of one wall, brown leather sofas (that could do with a clean, tbh). Sitting room would be quite nice, were it not for the ironing pile in one corner, and the fact it is chock full of dc-themed paraphernalia. Dh also has large computer desk and office stuff at one end of room (dd2's room was his study- he was evictedGrin) We REALLY need new blinds for the patio doors.

BlueCollie · 05/02/2011 19:44

Fridge - box of electrical type crap..leads etc for god knows what

Hallway - white

DS 14months - white with those removal sticker things with safari animals

DSD 7 - Lilac and white...not a fan of lilac but her room so her choice even though we only see her once/twice a year.

Bedroom - white....only moved in last April and had whole place replastered wanted a neutral colour until we had lived in it a while to decide.

Sitting room - white again and for same reason as above. We were stupid enough to get beige carpet throughout.....it's now more of a splattered stained/muddy colour....stupid idea!!!

I am now painting kitchen pink I wanted yellow but the colour of cupboards would not quite go with yellow and I figured pink would be a bit funky LOL.

Really want a stripey stair carpet for some reason...I am not going to get one as I live in a bungalow but I dream of a stripey carpet Grin

bumparoo · 05/02/2011 19:45

Top of the fridge has wicker baskets with various odd and ends, most medicines, vitamins are up there, a hangover from when they were out of kids reach ( they're now all taller than me )

The boys rooms are boys rooms dark and mysterious filled with dvds, shoes, pcs that have been built from scratch, things that I wont poke with a stick...
( late teen , twenties )

DD ( twenties ) room lilac, main lair of psycho bunny ( 3)

Hall- Liliac at least what you can see thats not covered by book shelves, but soon to be blue with silver stars

My room is a bedsit
Fireplace with open fire, two cream armchairs, bed, listing wardrobe ( too much junk on top ), bookcase,
old pine chest currently painted white, tv with dvd, hd box, rat cage, granny's table,
walls painted a sort of aubergine? russian velvet it said on the tin, bay window with cream curtains

Kitchen/living room, yellow walls, white ceiling, dark blue setee, grannys armchair blue throw over, table chairs, n more chairs, large fridge, large freezer both silver, tv etc, cat's perch to see out window, great view

all house fairly shabby needing new carpets, decoration

Rollergirl1 · 05/02/2011 19:58

On top of fridge: The iron, some lime cordial, soft drink and wine that we can't fit in the fridge.

Hall is painted: two different shades of mushroom. Lighter above dado rail and darker below it.

DC's rooms: DD (nearly 5) has very light pink and peppermint green painted walls. Cream colour carpet. Habitat stickers on the wall. DS (2.6) has magnolia painted walls (haven't painted this room since we moved), cream colour carpet, habitat dinosaur stickers.

Our bedroom: Wallpapered, duck-egg, shimmery laura ashley paper, iron bed, pine furniture that is in desperate need of replacement.

Sitting room: Pleased with sitting room now. Osborne & Little wallpaper along long feature wall, victorian open fireplace, solid oak floors and laura ashley lighting. Lots of bookcases full of books and a kind of kids play-room at the end.

MamaVoo · 05/02/2011 19:59

What's on top of your fridge?
Various crap - DS's old pictures, some left over trick or treat sweets, the cheese container thing which came with the fridge but takes up too much space. Probably quite a bit of dust too, but as the fridge is taller than me it's out of sight out of mind [slattern].

What colour is your hall painted? Or is it papered?
Magnolia Hmm. Painted when we were planning to sell the house but then we decided to stay.

What about your DC rooms? How old are your DC and what style is their room?
DS is 3 and his room is painted a pale green with Winnie the Pooh curtains. It hasn't been changed since he was a baby.

How about YOUR bedroom? Your sitting room?
My bedroom is a hideous blue, painted by DH's ex-girlfriend as they bought the house together. It's the only room I haven't got around to. Sitting room is Dulux apple white - so a very pale green.

FabbyChic · 05/02/2011 20:27

What's on top of your fridge?

Nothing its clear.

What colour is your hall painted? Or is it papered?

Light teal.

What about your DC rooms? How old are your DC and what style is their room?

Beige and brown. 17. Adult.

How about YOUR bedroom? Your sitting room?

Lilac, green.

annapolly · 05/02/2011 20:34

Nothing on top of fridge, intergrated.

Hall is cream.

DS bedroom cream, as is ours, we have the same white bedding and layout of furniture. He has never liked kids stuff. We each have a picture inset in the wall above the bed. His is a red ferrarri ours is abstract.

ShinyMoonInAPurpleSky · 05/02/2011 20:37

What's on top of your fridge?

A plastic box containing unused baby bottles and a breast pump.

A cardboard box full of crisps.

A half dead plant which is hiding from the cat (who half killed it by eating it).

What colour is your hall painted? Or is it papered?

Probably was papered originally, but has been painted sooooo many times I don't even think the walls remember what's on them anymore. Colour is magnolia.

What about your DC rooms? How old are your DC and what style is their room?

Magnolia, ds 6 months and currently in our room because his room is too damp to live in.

However, we are moving house next month and ds's room is yellow with a safari theme.

How about YOUR bedroom?

Magnolia.

In the new house it's lilac and purple.

Your sitting room?

Magnolia.

But will be earthy greens and browns in the new house.

Every room in this house is magnolia and the landlord said that we have to get their approval to change the colour of the walls, one of many reasons why we are moving.

WimpleOfTheBallet · 05/02/2011 20:51

Lot's of people keep crap on their fridges then! Not just me! I hate all those electrical leads and tins of change...I am going to warn everyone to take the things they treasure and then chuck everything away!

GabySolis · 05/02/2011 21:10

Our house needs sorting out lol, but anyway here goes!
What's on top of your fridge?
Earl Grey teabags box and dh's Yorkshire tea bags (proper builder stuff, me I'm a dainty Earl Grey drinker lol)

What colour is your hall painted? Or is it papered?
It's white. Artex. Eww (like that when we moved in and not got round to taking it off yet!)

What about your DC rooms? How old are your DC and what style is their room?
Now that's one that has been done out, it's cream coloured walls with pale curtains and a dinosaur theme going on (he likes dinosaurs Smile. So there's the matching dinosaur duvet and curtains Grin He's 7 by the way! Dc2 is 3 and shares with him.

How about YOUR bedroom?
Ours is feckin' horrible. Pink stripey wallpaper with a bloody awful flower motif/border whatever you call it going round, and a gross pink/browny carpet. Our room next on the hitlist when it comes to decorating! Smile

Your sitting room?
tv, random gadgety things such as dvd and shelving.
I need to crack on with the decorating lol

Eglu · 05/02/2011 21:14

What's on top of your fridge?
An ice crusher, a breast pump, a chocolate fountain and some wooden plates.

What colour is your hall painted? Or is it papered?
I decorated last summer, it is white and duck egg and I love it.

What about your DC rooms? How old are your DC and what style is their room?
DS1 (7) DS2 (3) currently share a room with jungle stickers, altohugh they are moving soon to accomodate next baby, not sure what style they wil lhave then.

How about YOUR bedroom? Your sitting room?

White walls and white bedlinen, I like it to be realxing, although it is full of junk at the moment

Mists · 05/02/2011 21:17

But do any of you have stairs leading off your kitchen? That's what I want to know

Eglu · 05/02/2011 21:17

Oops didn't do sitting room

Beige walls hideous fireplace and red sofas. Is next on the decorating list.

StarlightPrincess · 05/02/2011 21:20

What's on top of your fridge?

A fruit bowl, and a computer scanner, randomly!

What colour is your hall painted? Or is it papered?

Lemon yellow.

What about your DC rooms? How old are your DC and what style is their room?

DS is 4 and DD is nearly two and they share a room- it's half sky blue and half baby pink! It's modern, laminate floored and beech furniture.

How about YOUR bedroom? Your sitting room?

My bedroom is teal, with no carpet as we can't afford one at the moment. Sad

My living room is painted a light coffee colour, and we're going to be wallpapering one of the walls, doing a feature wall type of thing...laminated again. The whole flat is a work in process really!

SecretNutellaFix · 05/02/2011 21:23

on top of my fridge? recycling boxes for tins.

Hall has hospital green paint over woodchip- we've never got around to re-decorating in 8 years.

No DC, but guest beds are same as hall.

Our bedroom is cream with turquoise and lime touches, and a florrdrobe.

Living room has plenty of ikea shelving and suffers from flat surface syndrome. Walls are 2 shades of purple, curtains are cream and purple, chairs are cream, sofa is Ikea and navy. Needs replacing.

pointythings · 05/02/2011 21:32

Top of fridge: (it's built in, so only about 5 inches of space):
Roll of duct tape (for those essential repairs, think McGyver)
Torch (large Maglite, for the provision of light an the potential bashing of intruders)

Colour of hall: Suffolk pink, as is stairwell - changed colour from puked-up smoked salmon when garage converted into room and painted. Nice. Too much stuff under stairs though.

DCs rooms DD1 - mint green walls, animal stencils on (done by me), lots of posters of animals. High sleeper with desk underneath, chest of drawer, shelving for clothes, built in hanging closet. Room is very small, 12 by 8 but she loves it.
DD2 - Has the other big bedroom. Double high sleeper with desk underneath, walls mint green with different animal stencils to DD1, bookcases (books mostly belonging to DH an me though), shelving for clothes, low table for sundry animals, mattress under bed (for when DD2 is ill and I need to sleep in her room, or sleepovers) and lots of stuffed animals.

Our room Kingsize bed (restless sleepers). Built in closet for DH's stuff. Chest of drawers for our stuff. Two bookcases (anyone see a theme here? BTW, we have a bookcase on the landing)

Living room Quite big - 20 by 12 ft. Erm, bookcases. Also a shelving unit for DVDs, craft cupboard for the DCs plus their books. sideboards with glasses (orderly) drinks cabinet (essential) and loads of other stuff (chaos). Three piece suite (cheap but comfy), TV (not flat screen), stereo and Sky+ (Don't like giving my money to Murdoch but no cable).

We don't do pretty interiors, just functional stuff.

QueenOfFlamingEverything · 05/02/2011 21:41

Oh this is hard because we live in a housing co-op and our bit of it is a glorified static caravan - we share facilities in the house though.

What's on top of your fridge?
Fridge is in the shared kitchen so the top of it is not my domain! About 30 egg boxes we are forgetting saving for the local shop, 2 demi-johns of homemade wine, some sprouting seeds in a jar.

What colour is your hall painted? Or is it papered?
The hall in the house is painted white. It doesn't have much wall though - there are 5 doors, a flight of stairs, a massive stone fireplace, and a large noticeboard taking up most of the wall space.

What about your DC rooms? How old are your DC and what style is their room?
DD is 7 and her room is a peach colour with a fabulous star shaped lampshade from Nepal. She's got a high-up bed and another bed made up underneath it for sleepovers and visiting children. There are 57 posters of horses on the walls (she told me that only this afternoon), and various ones of other animals. I try not to go in there much - there are too many eyes...
DS is 6mo and sleeps in with me.

How about YOUR bedroom? Your sitting room?
My bedroom is a curtained off bit of the sitting room. Its got white walls, a big Indian purple/pink/sequinned wall hanging, star shaped fairy lights, a bed DP made with a lovely carved headrest, and a purple velvet curtain.
Sitting room has got huuuuge windows (its one end of a static caravan) with blue curtains, white walls, a handmade woodburning stove with a mosaic made of bits of tile and mirror and seashell behind it to reflect the heat, sandy coloured carpet, table and chairs, a squashy green velvet armchair, lots of pictures on the walls, and various lanterns hung from the ceiling.

Oh and Mists - the kitchen in the house used to have stairs going into the attic. Now it has a hole in the ceiling from where someone started to remove them and didn't finish properly Angry

lillybloom · 05/02/2011 21:45

Integrated fridge with a cupboard on top

My hall is painted magnolia

DC room is blue with wooden furniture

My bedroom is a mess with peeling paint but if you squint through half shut eyes not too bad. I am currently trying to talk dh into painting over half term.

lillybloom · 05/02/2011 21:46

OOPs other dc room is pale pink with light furniture. How did that get lost? Blush

NorthernGobshite · 05/02/2011 21:56

Fridage is under work surafce so nothing.

Not posh enough to have a hall!

dd is 6 and has beige walls and the border from when she was a baby - elephants - she won't let us decorate! Walls also covered in stickers and posters.

Our room is also beige....sensing a theme here???

Living room is...beige....with a red wall and big brown leather sofa and Indian teak furniture. Carpets minging but otherwise I love my living room.
