Please tell me there are some normal, non social climbing Hampshire sorts out there, that are not psuedo (how do you spell that?) country folk, up their own arses tossers with massive 4wd cars that run you off the road and have never heard of state education? GRRRRR moved from the North and finding Hampshire tricky!

Skoda-driving Southampton-living northern-upbringing lady here...

FabbyChic · 05/02/2011 20:37

Im mid 40's! Up for a meet.

harassedinherpants · 05/02/2011 20:46

Propaganda do lethal nice cocktails!! Had my hen party there (only a small one with meal and cocktails) when we got married in 2009.

I'm 40...

And I don't go to Life lol.

queribus · 05/02/2011 21:03

OK - Propaganda it is!

I'm almost 40 - and like Wine a lot, LOL, in fact I have a very nice bottle from Lidl on the go on the mo ...

FabbyChic · 05/02/2011 21:04

I don't drink wine, but a coffee would do me.

queribus · 05/02/2011 21:06

can do cocktails too - although must avoid Slippery Nipples

stretchmark · 05/02/2011 21:09

ha ha some of these really made me chuckle!!

I live in Portsmouth, tho the people I know and the sights I've seen certainly dont have a place in Hampshire!

I like it tho, I'd take beer swigging football hooligans over snotty toffee nosed plebs anyday!!

I used to be in Andover too (military husband). it was a dump but I liked it. There are loads of really lovely villages surrounding Andover which is the only explanation for the Waitrose shoppers in their quilted green gilets!

When you think life is too posh in Hampshire pop tp Havant for an hour Grin

I had a great time in Hampshire with my ds. Fab schools. Watercress line, Marwell Zoo and jungle jungle were our hangouts!

Samraves · 06/02/2011 10:56

Lol, another from Pompey here... Although I am orig from SE London....

I too shop in fraction asda- and it is chavtastic! Check out the tracksuits :-) not posh there... Although there are some who drive their 4x4's to drop their kids off at the private school in old Portsmouth! Now there is really no need for a 4x4 in Pompey!

I certainly don't have one and don't think I am up my own arse..... I do like living here though, just could do with slightly less dog poo haha

Kryshees · 06/02/2011 11:05

ok, so I make that a south, north, east and west meet then!?

Eve34 · 06/02/2011 11:20

I'm normal honest :-)

cumfy · 06/02/2011 13:36

You really haven't been to Portsmuff/Frattern have you ? :o

Seriously, don't bother!

stovies · 06/02/2011 19:22

Oh I'd say it's definitely posh in NE Hants. Basingstoke isn't at all nice but in Hartley Wintney everyone drives an XC90 Volvo 4x4 and sends their child to prep.

There was much disappointment from DH when
he realised the most we could get for out 560k budget was an ugly 1970s link detached in need of work. Still, at least we could get out 3 kids into the local village primary as no bugger uses it! Grin

scrappydappydoo · 07/02/2011 10:32

Stovies when was that? - we're not in hw but put dd1 on waiting list for a 2010 reception place at the infant school in hw - in september we were 7 on the waiting list of about 10!

LittleMissHissyFit · 07/02/2011 13:00

Think there was a big year this year scrappy, there were a lot in 'our' village that didn't get in.

We have 3 classes of 30 children at the school, it's at capacity now apparently, but there is nowhere else around here to take more DC, perhaps only BF as you know. I was told by the secretary of our school that HW was oversubscribed.

stovies · 07/02/2011 13:57

This was 3yrs ago as DS is 7yrs. I think this years intake is very high. It was ages before we met anyone who used the school. All the kids seem to go to Yateley, St Neots or the girls to St Nicholas in Fleet. We actually looked at the private school in HW and were less than impressed.

Are you both in the next place along the A30? Grin Or are you in EH? I understand the school in EH is about 3 times too small!

BigBadMummy · 07/02/2011 17:58

I live in Hampshire.

But I drive a 4 x 4 and my three DCs all go to private school.

I am screwed, aren't it?

Some people think I am alright really but I am going to slope off anyway

mumbar · 07/02/2011 18:04

Massive I'm from and still live in Hanmpshire.

Live in a HA flat, drive a 13yr old KA, use state education in a very mixed eco-social school, am doing OU degree to improve my education and job prospects, but only as I am LP and need a better income. Do work 30hr/wk term time only.

If your near Portsmouth you should join us for meet ups.(nxt one feb 1/2 term) The girls and I would soon dispell your concerns. Grin
(sorry all those pompey people if that insulted you!!)

mumbar · 07/02/2011 18:06

Actually all those from Portsmouth copme over to our thread in local We have great meet ups. Splashpark, canoe lake, Krazy Kaves. Next one feb 1/2 term. xx

LittleMissHissyFit · 07/02/2011 18:16

BBM, yeah but you are sooo lovely....

She's not posh, she's gorgeous!

CamperFan · 07/02/2011 18:22

kryshees, are you organising a new forest meet then? Grin

scrappydappydoo · 07/02/2011 18:32

[waves back to LMHF]
Yes Stovies we share a village Wink
The problem we have is the housing market - people kept saying 'oh don't worry - people move in and out all the time she'll get a place no problem' well that was back in May and the market is dead plus they reduced the school PAN this year so we've languishing on the local school wait list ever since :(

TheSkiingGardener · 07/02/2011 18:41

Southampton dweller here. Def not posh. Southampton has some of the most deprived areas in the country. Does also have posher bits too though.

Up for a Southampton/ New Forest meet.

ninah · 07/02/2011 18:43

I went to a house party in Brockenhurst last year and I swear all the women had the same hairstyle, a kind of choppy bob

stovies · 07/02/2011 18:58

Gosh, I thought the housing market had picked up. Everything in HW seems to be sold but then I only look at Rightmove occasionally these days. When we first looked around the infant school I didn't take to the HT at all as she seemed to have a bee in her bonnet about the fact that so many parents in the village chose the private school across the road without even coming to see her school. But I misjudged her and after we'd been to look around the other school, I did see her point.

However, when friends talk about the acres of woodland their DCs have at the school in Eversley, I do sometimes wonder.
