Went to a baby playgroup the other day and met yet another mother who has handed in her notice just because she has had a baby.

Thanks a lot! Now when I will go looking for a job employers will think that I too will hand in my notice if I fall pregnant again and will probably take on a man instead of me.

Can't wait for men to get more parental leave, maybe it will equal things out a bit!

And surely with the flexible working hours law and such a woman CAN go back to work without silly excuses.

So I should put my baby in nursery for 11 hours a day and end up with £50 a month after I've paid for that just because you are worried about getting a new job?

are you katie hopkins?

Overcooked · 28/01/2011 11:30

redrollers - child benefit is paid to every child regardless of income so I consider that slightly different, but CTC is income based so I do question why I should work so that someone else can have the option of staying home full time with extra support given by tax payers in the form of benefits. I would love to stay at home with DD but we simply cannot afford to live on one wage.

I am happy to listen to your reasons why you consider CTC different other benefits. I am not sure what other benefits you could get anyway given that you would not actively be seeking work...

GlynistheMenace · 28/01/2011 11:30

I would love to be working. No fucker will employ me.

I have been rejected from so many posts for being overqualified. If I didn't want the fucking job I wouldn't apply Angry

TheCrackFox · 28/01/2011 11:31

Mumsnet should start a campaign that Gino should only be allowed on the TV if he is naked.

reelingintheyears · 28/01/2011 11:31

Chuka Umanna.Grin

Saw him on Question time last night.

whyohwhywhy · 28/01/2011 11:31

Er, I'd pack in my job to me with my baby if I could. Different if you absolutely love your job but if you're just doing a regular boring job (and how many people have truly fantastic jobs they're passionate about) why would you still do it if you could afford to spend more time at home with your baby.

This woman may return to the workforce when her baby is older, as many women do!

ChickensHaveNoEyebrows · 28/01/2011 11:32

Agreed, Glynis. Now I have to confess I wouldn't mind seeing Phil as nature intended.

SwearyMary · 28/01/2011 11:33

Did I miss a naked Gino D C? I fucking hope not. I shall have him. I shall.

Yes please to coffee and cake and biscuits. My DD is rising 12yrs. I am a SAHM. I love it. Grin

Tell me something Miss Judgypants OP.....what do you do for a living?

NikonNelly · 28/01/2011 11:35

Overcooked My understanding is that the CTC is a replacement for the old married man's tax allowance. It was modernised and takes a slightly different form so that all families can benefit not just the old fashion nuclear family with a married man. So I think the history of it is slightly different from other benefits.

Overcooked · 28/01/2011 11:35

Wow - what Maylee said - bravo!

I was Angry when I read this but having realised there is a threat of (I can hardly type the name) Eamo... disrobing I now feel Envy

MsKLo · 28/01/2011 11:40

Blimey

Surely this is a windup - when did having a baby become an excuse not to work? Babies need their mums
And anyway - why does it bother you so much if she doesn't want to work in an office and instead work at looking after her baby?

I was at the hairdressers yesterday and he told me he reckoned Gino would be getting his kit off so he had Sky+ it. I would have cancelled my appointment if I had known.
