to think that having sex 5 days after childbirth is plain bloody strange?

DP's friend's wife has just had a baby last Thursday. All fine and dandy, but she had a long birth (24 hours or so).

DP saw his mate yesterday, asked how the baby was etc, said 'yep she's fine and so is X (his wife), we had a good shag as well last night, so all back to normal'

DP thought 'wtf' and so did I.

Yes, perhaps DP misheard

'I got my wife a new bag'

'I am going out for a fag'

'My car is broken I am going to get a new jag'

'that's not a mountain that's a crag'

Christ air embolism sounds awful, I have no idea what it entails but it doesn't sound to clever.

"Me and the wife had a brag" (about the baby)? (clutching at straws)

"it's not my baby, she's a slag"?

kenobi · 26/01/2011 12:40

My god that's odd - there would have been blood everywhere. I'd fear for my linen... hell, I'd fear for the mattress.

He has to be lying... surely? Is it his first?

strandednomore · 26/01/2011 12:40

Or perhaps he meant the dance known as shag?? Are they into dancing?

There was a poster on MN recently who felt the need to share the fact she had given her OH a BJ (in hospital) 45 mins after giving birth. She said she felt so amazingly empowered by giving birth that it was an appropriate response.

PatTheHammer · 26/01/2011 12:42

Jeez, 5 days! I have a mate who admitted they had done after 9 days (very straightforward birth) and I thought that was grimShock

When I mentioned Lochia to her she replied 'Oh, there was hardly any......' all breezily like

Agree that this man sounds like a knobber and if putting out is the benchmark for what he uses to judge his wife's wellbeing then I feel sorry for her.

traceybath · 26/01/2011 12:43

yanbu

I've had 3 c-sections but was a leaking/bleeding mess at 5 days post birth.

And what an odd thing to say to someone too.

BalloonSlayer · 26/01/2011 12:43

Well maybe, just maybe she really wanted to and so did she, and so they did?

if so, lucky them!

and so what?

beanandspud · 26/01/2011 12:43

I thought a request from DP at 5 months was rather optimistic. What a strange conversation to have.

compo · 26/01/2011 12:43

I really hope he used something otherwise she'll be going through iut all again in 9 months Shock

HowToLookGoodGlaikit · 26/01/2011 12:44

I suspect he's bullshitting.

BitOfFun · 26/01/2011 12:45

I had sex ten days afterwards, but I didn't know then it was dangerous. Five days is pushing it though. I reckon he is probably lying too.

HowToLookGoodGlaikit · 26/01/2011 12:46

I stopped bleeding after 6/7 days, so there was no mess!

PatTheHammer · 26/01/2011 12:46

pip- At least with a BJ there is nothing going near your poor old sore and battered nethers!

Blokes DO talk about this to a certain extent but its not usually the first thing that comes to mind straight after a baby. One of DH's friends asked him how long we had waited because his DS was 4 months old and he was unsure how long it would be before she got her mojo back. As it turned out it was 10 months for them, everyone varies I guess!

valiumredhead · 26/01/2011 12:46

I was at a party once and my friend said ' Let me introduce you to xxxx' then hissed through clenched teeth ' she's the one I told you about, who had sex IN THE HOSPITAL after having her ds!!!!!!!!!!! '

Apparently she felt 'really up for it, and had never fancied her dh more' Shock Grin

I didn't know about it being dangerous - not that there was any danger as far as I was concerned, I wasn't up for anything for AGES and that was after a c section! Grin

meantosay · 26/01/2011 12:46

What a crap way to talk about your wife, anyway.

I agree with whoever said - don't ask a man whether or not they had sex, ask her.

Or, your DP misheard.

ShirleyKnot · 26/01/2011 12:47

Right, that's enough of that.

AbsDuCroissant · 26/01/2011 12:47

Also, a BJ after giving birth as feeling empowered?!?!?!?!?!
Eh?
