Is there really outrage over Miranda Kerr's breastfeeding photo?

Hello...

In the news today. Miranda Kerr (wife of Orlando Bloom) has released a picture of herself and her son...

Scroll down the story to see the photo...

www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-1348809/Orlando-Bloom-wets-baby-head-Miranda-Kerr-pictured-son.html?ito=feeds-newsxml

In the photo Miranda is breastfeeding her son, and I was moved by it and thought what an amazing, beauiful photo and how great that a celebrity is celebrating breastfeeding!

But - in some news articles, the message is that the photo has caused 'outrage' and that some people say this kind of photo should not be shown...

Do some people really feel like that? Does it offend some people? The Royal College of Midwives have said:

?Many women feel awkward about breastfeeding in public these days. But when people see a celebrity nursing their baby, it helps change that.?

I tend to agree and I love this photo - what does everyone else think? Do you love it or hate it and why?!

The only thing about the photo that makes me Envy is how amazing Miranda looks! Wink

Its a beautiful photo. I love it Smile

FindingStuffToChuckOut · 20/01/2011 13:34

love it too Grin

Pixieonthemoor · 20/01/2011 13:35

Yes, I read that it had caused outrage and I just couldnt figure out why. I think it is an utterly charming and touching picture and such a positive image in all respects. People who are 'outraged' need to take a long hard look at themselves.

KirstyAllsoap · 20/01/2011 13:35

I read this online yesterday and there were several negative comments about the photograph, but there were numerous positive ones.

I agree with you it is a beautiful photograph.

GrimmaTheNome · 20/01/2011 13:36

Lovely picture.

MoonGirl1981 · 20/01/2011 13:36

wonders why the tits on page 3 don't cause any offense but feeding hungry child with one makes people go all funny

Are these people aware of what breasts are actually for?

I am 'outraged' that she looks so amazing though!

I wish I had thought of doing that kind of photo... every photo I have where I am bf, I look like shit!

I must admit to being very shocked by this photo.

Shocked that a celebrity is actually breastfeeding their child Shock rather than bottle feeding due to some flimsy reason.

So yes, good for the Blooms! And it is a beautiful photograph.

MoonGirl1981 · 20/01/2011 13:37

Ooooooo! Using an * makes it go all dark!

Didn't realise!

thefurryone · 20/01/2011 13:37

Great photo, but I'm also totally Envy at how amazing she looks though Smile.

AgentZigzag · 20/01/2011 13:39

I saw something about it earlier and wondered what on earth she was up to while she was BF, the way they were going on I thought she was pissed up or had a fag on the go.

But no, she's just BF him.

It's a beautiful piccy, honestly, have they nothing else to comment on?

togarama · 20/01/2011 13:39

Who was outraged? I've seen the photo but missed any negative reactions. (I probably don't read the right magazines / newspapers...)

hairfullofsnakes · 20/01/2011 13:39

MommyMayhem your comment made me laugh a lot! I have to agree Wink

I really hope it helps having a celebrity putting bf out there

I love the fact that Danni Minogue breastfeeds and spoke about her dashes to feed her son between rehearsals for the X Factor etc. Such great role models.

I think it is beautiful too :)

DuelingFanjo · 20/01/2011 13:40

I think people were more outraged by the Daily Mail claiming she wasn't wearing any make-up Grin

DuplicitousBitch · 20/01/2011 13:40

god she is beautiful

KittaKatta · 20/01/2011 13:41

More outraged at the DM saying make-up free when it's clear that she is wearing make up, but just put that down to their usual crapness.

It is a lovely pic though.
Any outrage was from the usual knuckle draggers that complain when ever a woman is seen daring to leave the kitchen

hairfullofsnakes · 20/01/2011 13:41

Oh goodness, I am broody even though my dc 2 is only 16 months and still bf's like mad!

Anonymousbird · 20/01/2011 13:42

What criticisms were there? I am genuinely interested!

What objections could there possibly be??

~I haven't seen any downers on this - please enlighten me!

hairfullofsnakes · 20/01/2011 13:42

Yes she is beautiful, even more now she has the 'mummy love' in her eyes!

OP posts:
Flisspaps · 20/01/2011 13:42

I think it's only the DM that is outraged.

Flisspaps · 20/01/2011 13:42

But then, when isn't it?

DuplicitousBitch · 20/01/2011 13:43

dm outrage can cause cancer
