You know some posters tend to enter a thread with "Well I'm a Doctor, Lawyer, Teacher, Head Teacher" or whatever...well do you give their post any more creedence because of it or do you just disregard it completely and read what they have to say as if they'd never mentioned it?

Bearing in mind any of us can be anything we claim to be?

Thanks in advance

I am shit hot at lying whilst I'm on the phone (and use this skill on a daily basis lol)

I joined MN to talk about me lol, because I like to :) I think I'm pretty amazing, so why would I lie in my posts...??

Scrap that..the only thing I have told the truth about is my namechange on a recent thread - I called myself JungleFanny ha ha

Whether a person is telling the truth or not is largely irrelevant, as long as the person reading it gets the answer they were looking for then it ok isn't it??

Sassybeast · 07/01/2011 23:10

I can categorically state that there is absolutely no conspiracy between myself and Anyfucker. Honest guv. No sirree.

MarniesMummy · 07/01/2011 23:11

I could use a man who is 'willing to do everything from cooking to cleaning shoes and will only speak when spoken to'

WimpleOfTheBallet · 07/01/2011 23:11

I don't doubt people if their posts appear to be well written...which is a bit silly really.

ChippingIn · 07/01/2011 23:11

Mutz - to answer your actual question Grin on the whole yes, but some posters couldn't lie straight in a bed - but it's usually fairly obvious... even more so when they are a teacher one month and a social worker the next Grin (of course it's possible to be one then the other, but not the way their posts read - both current professions). Other times they will say they are a TA/Teacher/SW/Lawyer and I think - 'Yep, that explains a lot Grin' or 'Yeah RIGHT and I'm a blue flying monkey!!'

mutznutz · 07/01/2011 23:11

I forgot to add she was totally vile...anyone with a problem would be ridiculed by her and when they retaliated she would hit the report button and have them banned Sad

Sassybeast · 07/01/2011 23:12

I agree - no conspiracy between me and Sassy. None. we are 2 different people.

hmc · 07/01/2011 23:12

I think (no evidence for this gut feel) the vast majority of posters tell the basic truth and only a sad and inadequate tiny minority lie consistently - surely?

usualsuspect · 07/01/2011 23:13

I think that the majority on MN are genuine tbh ... theres always gonna be a few bullshitters though

FabbyChic · 07/01/2011 23:14

hmc

It would be nice to believe that liars are in the minority.

tomhardyismydh · 07/01/2011 23:14

Doh marnie my first report!!

has anyone here ever been reported or had a post removed?

mutznutz · 07/01/2011 23:15

ChippingIn I'm actually gobsmacked at the fact your thought mentioning your colour was relevent!?!? Surely it doesn't matter if you're blue, yellow, read or green...or do you think yourself a superior monkey and are now going to stereotype the other ones? Angry

Ok....perhaps the last two weeks has affected me somewhat in my thought process Wink

yes personal attacks are not allowed

singingcat · 07/01/2011 23:15

I think quite a lot of people change tiny details when telling a story, for deniability [not a word]. And then there are the ones who construct massive fabrications and get everyone stirred up. And then those (I reckon) who aren't all they appear, but have a certain persona which is consistent so no one calls them on it. The last category are usually quite amusing as well.

AnyFucker · 07/01/2011 23:16

sassy...ssh

don't tell anyone I am really Kate Middleton

MissyPie · 07/01/2011 23:16

Mutz - what made you start this thread? Do you think a certain person is talking shite, or is it just one of them questions to create a bit of good old honest chit chat, either way I'm liking the thread :)

mutznutz · 07/01/2011 23:16

read being a brand new colour I've made up and copyrighted obviously Blush

Sassybeast · 07/01/2011 23:19

I thought 'I' was being Kate tonight ? Sad

mutznutz · 07/01/2011 23:20

Missy No it really is a general thread...having not really been here long enough to notice if anyone is a habitual bullshitter lol. I have only spotted one person so far who...I couldn't say is BSing but loves to jump in and say how wonderful her kids are at absolutely everything...usually when the OP is saying they're a bit worried about an under achieving child or something...now that I do find sad.

Bullshit away if it floats your boat but doing it to rub it into someone with a genuine worry is pretty low I think.

FabbyChic · 07/01/2011 23:21

The person I knew from the net would have telephone conversations with himself whilst he was on the phone to me, i.e pretending to be on another call!

Amazing.

clumsymumluckybaby · 07/01/2011 23:21

i dont lie...

i'd be too worried you'd all see through me in a second!Grin
