Do you take people at face value on here?

You know some posters tend to enter a thread with "Well I'm a Doctor, Lawyer, Teacher, Head Teacher" or whatever...well do you give their post any more creedence because of it or do you just disregard it completely and read what they have to say as if they'd never mentioned it?

Bearing in mind any of us can be anything we claim to be?

Thanks in advance

I do take people on face value. I'm gullible trusting like that. Unless they really piss me off. Then I look for hidden meanings

Whether they are a doctor etc - I don't really care unless there is obvious sense and expertise in their posts.

BusyMissIzzy · 09/02/2011 13:31

I do, mostly. I'm probably very naïve. I actually genuinely care about a lot of the posters here. Probably cos I don't have enough of a 'real' life.

I do get suspicious sometimes though (alliterative nicknames sometimes make me go Hmm, if the post seems dodgy as well, as a result of a previous troll), but I tend not to mention it unless it's really blatant.

I'm not sure if the Nags is there or not, but no, the forum wasn't an ebay one...it was started by some ebay members though.

penelope I have no idea what you're talking about but from the tone of your last post, I'd say you'd probably do well to take your own advice (seriously lol)

Yes Psammead I think the thing is understandable at times Grin

It never even incurred to me that people might not post the whole truth about themselves, since if you can't do it on an anonymous forum, where no-one gives two hoots, where can you do it?

But I recognise a couple of people on here from another (once big) forum that I used to post on, and even though they now use different user names, they've posted easily identifiable shiz about themselves, and loads of it contradicts stuff they said on t'other place. Grin

If it keeps them happy...

Erm...I can't get past usernames much of the time. Many of them give me such a strong mental image i.e. penelope's nipples being at knee level, that I struggle to take seriously most of what is said/typed Grin

...now hankering after a bag of chicken flavour Walkers!!

mutznutz · 09/02/2011 14:01

Aye well some people take it as a personal slight when someone disagrees with them. It's all part of life though...it's ok to disagree as we're all different.
