Do you take people at face value on here?

You know some posters tend to enter a thread with "Well I'm a Doctor, Lawyer, Teacher, Head Teacher" or whatever...well do you give their post any more creedence because of it or do you just disregard it completely and read what they have to say as if they'd never mentioned it?

Bearing in mind any of us can be anything we claim to be?

Well I am neither evil nor dead, but I have never lied about anything on here or exaggerated so I tend to assume others don't. Although recently I did notice a pretty obvious glaring lie from one poster as if what they had previously claimed to be true.. their current story would have to be a lie iyswim

I dunno whether they are actually lying, bu they do take every opportunity to wax lyrical about their children, their house, their DH's salary , their fab clothes etc

US, I am honoured (although I have to be since I got fuck-all say in the matter )

I don't tend to take any more notice if they say that but I don't doubt that they are what they say

I never lie on MN, I just don't see the point in pretending to be something/someone you aren't, which is probably why I get sucked in by the not so truthful threads/posters!

If I boast about my kids it is because they are all I have achieved, makes me feel I got something right.

If you don't take people to be telling the truth it all becomes a bit pointless though.

Would it be reasonable to say that some people post things on here just to get varying opinions - perhaps the thread does not relate to the OP but someone they may know, and to give advice to a friend perhaps it's easy to get advice from us

I don't think the level of bullshit here is very much different from RL, tba.

In RL, you come across some people who claim to know it all, who'll wade into any discussion claiming to be the authority ... 'tis the same here.

At me if you like anyfucker, I'm short, skint and if my dh was actually home long enough to judge I'm sure he probably be very annoying and my kids are currently demons.

I usually presume people are telling the truth. Although sometimes on certain threads like asking for funniest drunk stories or whatever it amazes me how many people can come up with so many funny stories off the top of their heads. Maybe there are just a hell of a lot of people on here. Or maybe I am jealous because my memory is so crap

I take EVERYTHING people say on here with a pinch of salt now.. This is after being sucked in by a poster to the point of actually sending them money (Well Tesco vouchers infact) and then finding out that the whole thing was a lie. Never again... It is sad as it has Jaded me and a lot of other people now.
