Takethatlady, i thought it was common practice to reply to messages. Not blast your reply on a forum. I feel like i got jumped on just for expressing that fact that i didnt agree with the OP (where she asked our opinions) and i feel that is why i have became very defensive.

I wouldnt say i am immature or clueless thanks very much. And if i choose to use 'textspeak' in an informal forum then surely that is up to me?

I run two nurseries and am also a cm, in the process of opening a third nursery too.

xkittyx · 12/12/2010 13:58

But you called older woman who wear short skirts "sluts", which is highly offensive. You also posted about your slim, cellulite-free thighs as a bitchy dig at older woman. The tone of your posts have been somewhat aggressive, you don't seem to give other people the same courtesy you expect ie. to have a different opinion...
I think you should just take on board that you're not going down well, step away from this and in future try a calmer tone.

pollywollyhadadollycalledmolly · 12/12/2010 14:02

Are you fucking kidding me Kitty? Dont seriously get me started!!!

No, someone said they found teenagers who had cellulite wearing short skirts horribe. So i said that i didnt have cellulite!!! That was a dig at the woman that said that in the first place!!!!

And the whole slut thing? Well that is my view!!!!!

In future i will use the tone i see fit, thank you!!!

I dont believe i am being rude at all. Angry? Probably, nothing worse than when u get roasted for not having the same opinion.

Imagine what you want

takethatlady · 12/12/2010 14:18

As 'slut' is a derogatory term for a woman who sleeps around, then calling someone a 'slut' because she wears short skirts is NOT an opinion - it's just a totally false and meaningless accusation. The length of someone's skirt has nothing to do with what she does in or out of the bedroom - you can't possibly know what anybody does privately based on their dress sense.

Saying you don't think short skirts look nice on women at 40 is an opinion (one I disagree with, for sure, but still, that would be an actual opinion and not just rudeness and aggression).

Secondly, 'slut' is a misogynist term designed to penalise women for their sexual behaviour - which is, after all, their business. Many people would say that there is actually no such thing as a 'slut' and that anybody who thinks there is is beyond sexist.

For the record, I never ever said you were immature or clueless and nor would I - I don't know you. Nor did I jump on you - I was polite and made my point carefully and without being personal or confrontational - so I don't know why you got defensive with me.

But swearing, sexism, aggression, rudeness, ageism, and prejudice are never going to get you very far.

pollywollyhadadollycalledmolly · 12/12/2010 14:23

I'm glad that you know so much about sluts!!! lol

I didnt say you called me clueless or immature!!!

Well i've got this far in life being me.

granted · 12/12/2010 14:29

You sound somewhat up yourself, frankly, polly.

I fail to see why the fact you run a business gives you the right to call people old enough to be your mother 'sluts' if they don't dress the way you approve.

Maybe when you're 39 you'll be totally past it, a right old harridan.

Some of us on here are 39 or over and v gorgeous.

And we'll dress how we like, thanks, not how someone young enough to be our daughters gives us permission to dress!

If you'r not immature, then you're just downright rude.

takethatlady · 12/12/2010 14:52

Oh dear. First, I said I don't believe that there is any such thing as a 'slut' because I believe female sexuality is not something women should be punished for.

Secondly, isn't that the same kind of argument as 'he who smelt it dealt it?'

I haven't called you immature, as others have, but for goodness' sake. If you don't want to be flamed, don't put fuel on the fire.

GordianKnot · 12/12/2010 14:56

Polly ISA man though obv

GMajor7SwansASwimming · 12/12/2010 15:00

Look...the velvet dress sounds just fine, and with a 3/4 sleeve will no doubt look very chic.

Polly, be a dearie and take your slim, cellulite-free thighs and polly wolly doodle the fuck off. Smile

takethatlady · 12/12/2010 15:27

Yep, good luck with the dress. I'm sure you'll look hot!

pollywollyhadadollycalledmolly · 12/12/2010 19:41

I'll polly wolly doodle whereever the FUCK i want to thanks very much!!!

I can assure you i am not a man!!! lol Altho if thats what floats ur boat lol

I think Polly deserves a break here. She has been patronised excessively for being young purely because she has a different opinion to most on here.
I think there are a lot of 30/40 something women on here who know what she is saying is right and she has touched a nerve tbh.

Polly has not been rude. She used words like "fuck" but she didn't call anyone a silly old fucker or a cunt. That's RUDE.

She has been flamed and grilled and made to feel she needs to defend her stance and back up her opinions with details from her life. In RL its called bullying.

Classic MN behaviour. I would have buggered off ages ago. Good for her for sticking around and up for herself.

pollywollyhadadollycalledmolly · 12/12/2010 20:53

I dont think i have been rude. I have been very defensive, but i have already explained my reasons for that.

Thanks saintkncikerless and anonymosity.

GMajor7SwansASwimming · 12/12/2010 20:54

...and I quote:

If ladies in their late 30s and 40s want to dress like sluts then do what u like.

Are u actually fuckin serious u wore a mini dress to a soft play?? Or r u pulling my slim cellulite free leg??

What's NOT rude about that then??

pollywollyhadadollycalledmolly · 12/12/2010 20:56

Well who would wear a minidress to a soft play??? lol

anonymosity · 12/12/2010 20:56

Its not rude. Its actually quite funny and not far from the truth. If you choose to be offended by it then really that's your look out. Its easy to be offended by just about ANYTHING on Mumsnet, if you try hard enough.

Not rude ? Are you serious ? Of course its rude. Some 21 year old poster saying that it is slutty.
I am 37. nearly 39. I don't generally wear thigh, but wear above knee. Have hourglass figure, perfect for very fitted dresses. Tights and 3 inch heels and I look amazing, though I say so myself !!
Rude ? of course its extremely rude.

Chattyspud · 12/12/2010 21:30
