Having read this forum, I believe that a lot of God's wishes are being ignored. A lot of the issues mentioned here could be resolved if you all allowed Him into your lives.

He really does care.

OP posts:

I don't understand your link Abs - why does that person think that typing "God" is offensive?
I was taught to have God in everything in my life - to type "God" means taht I am thinking about God and that can only be a good thing?
surely?

Confused
Yahweh · 06/12/2010 16:33

I'm afraid it's all part of the rough and tumble of life Absof. If I was running around the Faith section or on a Jewish site you might have a point. But as your not reading this, because I'm not typing it because I don't exist, on this forum I don't think you do.

If it really bothers you you might want to complain about several tonnes of theology books, the novels of Philip K.Dick and Wikipedia amongst others.

larry5 · 06/12/2010 16:34

If you are all so anti God can I ask why you all seem to spend so much time worrying about what to get your children for Christmas because if you don't believe in God or Jesus by rights you shouldn't be celebrating Christmas.

Yahweh · 06/12/2010 16:34

Oh yes! And Raiders of the Lost Ark - it's really hard to remember things when you don't exist.

GrimmaTheNome · 06/12/2010 16:35

Abs, can I just ask if its spelling out Y* which you find particularly offensive - the link implied that spelling out 'God' was offensive to Jewish people but I've never seen that objected to. Confused

AbsofLatkes · 06/12/2010 16:35

What I'm saying is that the particular name one poster is using is never written out. Fine for the title and things - what the one poster is doing is highly highly offensive.

nickeldonkeyonadustyroad · 06/12/2010 16:35

larry who said we were all anti-god?

Confused
TheCoalitionNeedsYou · 06/12/2010 16:36

larry5 - Oh for GODS Sake don't keep trying to hijack Christmas with all this religion stuff.

activate · 06/12/2010 16:37

God is a fallacy

designed by man

to suit man

religion is a construct

Christmas is a festival designed to eradicate paganism

He really doesn't exist let alone care

narkypuffin · 06/12/2010 16:37

Yahweh, are you planning on abdicating outsourcing some of your responsibilities in a new policy of Big Religion?

nickeldonkeyonadustyroad · 06/12/2010 16:37

Abs I've seen it written like that loads of places in Christian literature - I don't know about the rules for Judaism, though.

GrimmaTheNome · 06/12/2010 16:37

If you are all so anti God can I ask why you all seem to spend so much time worrying about what to get your children for Christmas because if you don't believe in God or Jesus by rights you shouldn't be celebrating Christmas.

We're celebrating the Winter Solstice/Yule.
Presumably if you're a christian you don't believe in Eostre so don't celebrate Easter? Hmm[here we go again]

narkypuffin · 06/12/2010 16:38

Larry5- christians festivals just happen to fall in line with per existing pagan rites, so the real question is why are you celebrating in December?

activate · 06/12/2010 16:39

My favourite religious bit is

If Catholics believe in poverty, chastity and obedience - WHY is Vatican city the richest city in the world?

(note how I'm leaving chastity alone)

TheCoalitionNeedsYou · 06/12/2010 16:40

Grimma - It's not offensive to Jewish people - it's possibly offensive to people who believe in the Jewish religion. But people don't have a right not to be offended just because they've decided they don't like something.

Some of the driving by Orthodox Jews round here is EXTREMELY offensive.

PrettyCandlesAndTinselToo · 06/12/2010 16:40

Latkes, you are being over-sensitive. Yod Hay Vav Hay is one thing, Y H W H something else entirely.

Would you feel better if she called herself JHVH?

BTW OP, YABU.

Yahweh · 06/12/2010 16:41

narkypuffin - That will be decided after the policy review. Once I exist.

PrettyCandlesAndTinselToo · 06/12/2010 16:44

Hey Jehovah, (I hope you don't mind that I call you Jehovah) I quite like the fact that today god is female Grin.

narkypuffin · 06/12/2010 16:44

Excellent. May I suggest Ugg-wearers be added to your smiting list?

booyhohoho · 06/12/2010 16:45

agree totally with activate. every word.

madangelhaironchristmasday · 06/12/2010 16:47

OP - if you're for real, possibly not the most helpful post.

As a Christian I see God round MN a lot Xmas Grin - in the love and care shown, for eg, in the humour and the fun and the grief and the pain. Everywhere in fact, as I believe God is in it, but doesn't stop the crap.

Your OP is at best misguided, at worst toxic. We may believe 'he really does care' but coming across holier than thou sure isn't expressing that too well. Sorry.

altinkum you poor thing. I hope things get better soon. As someone who knows what it is like I send every sympathy and thoughts.

UnquietDad · 06/12/2010 16:54

I believe the expression is "we got a live one here."

I'm with Bart Simpson. God is my favourite fictional character.

Not suprising KM faints if she makes a habit of that.
