the blind date woman - said that her date should have offered to pay for her taxi. grrrr. bloody whipper snappers (she was 24-ish) undoing the hard work of so many others.

Yes, saw that. YANBU.

5DollarShake · 20/11/2010 20:31

It's not because she is young, is it? It's just because she's a freeloader.

earlymorningwaking · 20/11/2010 20:53

YABU for 'whippersnappers'. Plenty more older kept women than younger.

southeastastra · 20/11/2010 20:54

oh blimey reminds me of an article i read about dating in new york. so many tick lists or the poor bloke was out on his ear.

it's very backward

Longtalljosie · 20/11/2010 21:01

I was astonished when I saw it - does anyone actually do that?

newwave · 20/11/2010 21:05

Made me raise an eyebrow as well, if I was the bloke i would throw away her number

perfumedlife · 20/11/2010 21:06

YABU the Guardian is rubbish Smile

hatwoman · 20/11/2010 21:15

the whippersnappers thing was speculation on my part that this paricular youngster just didn't "get" feminism. probably doesn't realise just how different a world it was for women 50 years ago, just how hard won some of the battles have been and just how many there are still to go. I apologise to all those (many) whippersnappers who do get all that. and extend my critism to all the middle agers and fogies who don't.

YANBU

newwave · 20/11/2010 21:22

perfume, The only paper worth reading along with the Indy and Observer. :)

Whats your choice.

MrsVincentPrice · 20/11/2010 21:23

Yes I was Shock too.

domesticslattern · 20/11/2010 21:27

Yanbu. I actually moaned about that bit to my DH earlier today- read out her comment and we agreed she was an arse. And she had just had a free meal off the Guardian!

Got to say that that whole feature irks me every week though.

SuePurblybiltByElves · 20/11/2010 21:28

I love the Sat Guardian. But the dates are becoming annoying. I may apply to go on one myself Grin

hatwoman · 20/11/2010 21:35

I love the date thing. it's virtually the only thing I read. love the fact that week after week the men rate the women higher than vice versa. are they less fussy or less critical?

OP posts:
lennythelion · 20/11/2010 21:37

YANBU - I thought the same when I read it. The blind dates are very rarely compatible!

scottishmummy · 20/11/2010 21:41

plenty middle agers livin off hubby or ex.grrr bloody tena ladies undoing the hard work of so many others.

justabit · 20/11/2010 21:44

wasn't the age. was the attitude.

perfumedlife · 20/11/2010 21:46

I'm a Telegraph reader, know thy enemy Grin

The Guardian seem to me to print what we already knew, and the actual investigative element seems to have declined.

scottishmummy · 20/11/2010 21:48

was that why 24yo whipper snapper age was mentioned?

some folk are flaky of age regardless of age

mumbar · 20/11/2010 21:48

wouldn't have said the age - I had DS at 24 (and 2 days!) It just takes us back to the sense of entitlement again.

TBH as a single mother of 30 I'd happily walk home if someone wanted to take me out for dinner Grin

CaptainBarnacles · 20/11/2010 21:49

Yes, YANBU. I thought she was a total princess - also turned up 20 minutes late for the date.

KPidgeon · 20/11/2010 21:53

YANBU- I thought exactly the same thing. I'm 29 and loads of girls my age would expect that though- with a certain "princess" attitude about it. Pathetic.

SuePurblybiltByElves · 20/11/2010 22:28

I bought the Mail today for the first time. I want the Kate'n'Will plate for a pressie Grin

JamieLeeCurtis · 20/11/2010 22:29

I noticed that too. Was very surprised

JamieLeeCurtis · 20/11/2010 22:30

... I was also a bit pissed off that he rated her so highly, after I read that. Wonder how he feels having read that she thinks he should have paid for the taxi?
