the blind date woman - said that her date should have offered to pay for her taxi. grrrr. bloody whipper snappers (she was 24-ish) undoing the hard work of so many others.

and by gift if google we can all search.dont need anyone else to link article if really interested

thelibster · 21/11/2010 01:46

And references have been made in previous posts to the individuals in question's earning capacity, age etc. T'would be rather nice to be able to read article and perhaps ( Shock ) draw our own conclusions before proceeding to engage further?

scottishmummy · 21/11/2010 01:49

google it like everyone else,no one spoon feeds links

thelibster · 21/11/2010 01:51

Actually have googled "blind date Guardian" but "most recent" was 13th November, last Saturday. They obviously haven't got around to putting today's on the web page yet. Or are you proposing that we all sit and read the whole of today's newspaper online to find it?

scottishmummy · 21/11/2010 01:53

not proposing anything toots,mn thread you in or not

kittya · 21/11/2010 01:54

Its in the magazine. It should be in there as they are usually quite quick.

thelibster · 21/11/2010 01:54

Plenty of people post links, particularly in OPs Don't understand your hostility.

BitOfFun · 21/11/2010 01:56

No wiser, sorry Grin

scottishmummy · 21/11/2010 01:57

havent read article.have read thread

thelibster · 21/11/2010 01:59

Actually miffed at your offhandedness to BitofFun rather than me BTW Smile Who, incidentally, says that for some strange reason she is unable to see the OP. Get thee down to PC world, pronto, BitofFun before presuming to engage! (Joke, obviously!) Grin

scottishmummy · 21/11/2010 02:09

methinky fact bof posting=internet access=she not out any loop

kittya · 21/11/2010 02:10

www.guardian.co.uk/lifeandstyle/2010/nov/20/blind-date

Its not bloody difficult!! now AIBU because it took me ten minutes to find it and post it after a bottle of wine Smile

SparklingExplosionGoldBrass · 21/11/2010 02:15

Tch. Idon't do dating (just have sex with people and maybe or maybe not agree to meet them another time) but AFAIK if you say to someone 'will you (for instance) have dinner with me?' then you're paying. The one who issues the invitation pays for the tickets or whatever, but it's polite, if you're the asked one, to at least get the drinks in or pay for the popcorn.

scottishmummy · 21/11/2010 02:18

keech.so anyone who suggests has to pay tab.simplistic and graspy of you can afford not to pay

date doesnt=invitee pays all
date=share

kittya · 21/11/2010 02:18

but they are set up by the newspaper!! who pay for their meal/drinks, surely she couldve paid for her way home??

come to think of it are these dates always in London?

thelibster · 21/11/2010 02:23

Ah! thank you, kittya no YANBU but you clearly know the newspaper, that the article was in the magazine and what the magazine was called and it still took you ten minutes! Smile Take pity on those of us who don't have that knowledge and may also have partaken of the grape this evening! Grin I don't particularly think that the OP is BU either (not for me to judge on that one) just think a bit sad that she can get "really annoyed" at something quite as trivial as this. Can't agree that the woman obviously earns more than the man either tbh. Departmental Administrator suggests some kind of salaried managerial role whereas Consultant could mean anything from out of work and picking up anything she can, to high flyer on six figures! And with that I will gracefully bow out and leave you ladies to your thread. Goodnight all!

DioneTheDiabolist · 21/11/2010 02:24

Yes. Us provincials should get a gravy chip and stay in.

scottishmummy · 21/11/2010 02:27

well fired roll and tattie scone=perfect date.you know much about a man by his well fired buns

kittya · 21/11/2010 02:30

a pattie sandwich and chips - triple carbs!! Grin they dont know how to live in London!!

scottishmummy · 21/11/2010 02:32

aye and a poke=chips
sauce=broon
and you both go dibs
none of this he is man,i is chancer

hatwoman · 21/11/2010 16:08

"realy annoyed" was pretty tongue in cheek. am definitely not sad. but not convinced it's trivial either. and I'm provincial fwiw

OP posts:
thelibster · 21/11/2010 18:33

hatwoman Sorry, just to clarify, I didn't mean that I thought you were sad (permanent state of affairs) rather that is was a sad situation to be "really annoyed" at an article in a newspaper so very sorry if it came over as a personal insult, my bad. And whose to say that the woman's remark about the man paying for her taxi wasn't also "tongue in cheek"? fwiw I'm provincial too! Grin

hatwoman · 21/11/2010 18:38

aahhh. I get you! Smile (I don;t know why the provincial bit crept it...)

yes - maybe she was being tongue in cheek. if so it got rather lost in translation!

I've always found that the men I date have been happy to foot the bill, perhaps because they're so pleased to enjoy my company Grin. I would probably be surprised if someone didn't offer to pay, just because I am fairly used to it now.
