AIBU to think that the extremists that burnt poppies in London last week should be hung, drawn and quartered?

OP posts:
wouldliketoknow · 16/11/2010 20:47

ozzy osbourne got arrested for pissing in the alamo, so not a very good point about pissing in mosque's walls.

this is just the perfect excuse to insult muslims, again, and say the very british phrase of go back to your country, and some other pretty thinks...

they have very little to thank for to british soldiers in the middle east, can't believe how many people know so little recent history. we respect and remember our soldiers, that's fine, they have a different opinion, that is also fine, we don't go around celebrating the lives of any non british heroes, ever, and 'we' have done and still do a lot of damage in other countries, it's ok as far is away from home and for economical profit, you see...

yabveryu, and you should worry your pretty little head with more important stuff.

people defending the bnp? thay can say what they want, but they can go around attacking, or asking others to attack, anyone non white or non british, it is racist, and would not be tolerated in other european countries...

and don't bother with personal attacks, this a on-off post.

Shelly32 · 16/11/2010 20:49

CoteDAzur, it is FACT that some extremely harsh punsihments have been handed out to those who offend in Muslim countries. You cannot deny that. Are you trying to say that people aren't stoned, hanged. dragged through the streets with their throats slit...Are you trying to say that women aren't put to death for being raped...are you trying to say thatthere aren't Fatwas on people who have done very little to deserve them? Is this civilised?? It hasn't all been made up in the press or staged. These things happen so i don't think it is ignorance or prejudice to refer to it in an argument.

wouldliketoknow · 16/11/2010 20:49

they can't go around attacking, last post.

Desiderata · 16/11/2010 20:50

Well, if you're not a Muslim, then you're married to one, dear.

I have a couple of Bristolian friends on here who are Muslim by choice. They're gurt lush, to coin a colloquinism.

If it's a peaceful, spiritual choice, as my friends have made, that's more than cool by me.

They don't mix their belief with politics. I suspect that you do, however.

CoteDAzur · 16/11/2010 20:52

I will soon go off to do something meaningful with the rest of the evening watch 24 so would like to summarise:

As offensive, tasteless, and moronic as their actions were, expressing these opinions and destroying paper flowers in the meanwhile is not a crime. And it should not be a crime in a democracy that values freedom of expression.

It is also not comparable to a hate crime, incitement to murder, or threatening grievous bodily harm, all of which are actually crimes. And rightly so.

Alouiseg · 16/11/2010 20:52

No Kaloki I was referencing cotes post of 20.14:01

I actually feel the same about all religions, not specifically Muslims.

The fact is the people who burned the poppies were being deliberately inflammatory.

Shelly32 · 16/11/2010 20:53

Would like to know...Personal attacks to the previous argument...what argument? What point are you trying to make? You are confused and confusing...

Desiderata · 16/11/2010 20:55

Wouldlike to know ... I cannot see what pissing on a mosque's wall has to do with the Alamo, or Ozzy Osbourne.

I was using an analogy. What's your excuse?

CoteDAzur · 16/11/2010 20:57

Desiderata - I am not married to a Muslim, either. What on earth are you going on about? Hmm

Kaloki · 16/11/2010 20:58

Oh I know AlouiseG, it's joke isn't it. I suppose at least they had to give money to charity to get the poppies to burn? Grin

CoteDAzur · 16/11/2010 21:00

Shelly - You cannot generalize those atrocities as happening in all Muslim countries. I am sorry if they happen where your father is from, but there are many Muslim countries around the world, and I know a few that are not like that at all.

Desiderata · 16/11/2010 21:05

Because, Cote, you always seem to argue in favour of the underdog.

And yet, your arguments are unfounded. Most natural born Brits tend to feel that we are the underdog in our own country. I don't know what you stand for, but I rarely agree with you.

I will, of course, alert the media, if I ever should.

daftpunk · 16/11/2010 21:15

Hi Desi ... Good to see you Smile

Desiderata · 16/11/2010 21:20

It's more than lovely to see you too, dafty [smile}

Desiderata · 16/11/2010 21:21
Smile

Getting that wrong is like being naked in public Grin

daftpunk · 16/11/2010 21:27

Your posts ( + Alouiseg's and S32's ) were extremely good.

Just wanted to say that before you disappear again for 6 months ( where do you go ...Netmums ? )

daftpunk · 16/11/2010 21:28

Rofl .... And you'd know !

Mumcentreplus · 16/11/2010 21:31

Most natural born Brits tend to feel that we are the underdog in our own country.

explain who these natural born Brits are...

Kaloki · 16/11/2010 21:32

I have to say, I find it hard to believe that a majority can be an underdog, especially a majority with all the control.

Diziet · 16/11/2010 21:39

I'd just like to say...
I'm British.
(well... half Irish, technically)
I'm proud of it.

One of the things I'm proud of is that our country is so tolerant and allows everyone to
express their opinion freely.
I just wish it didn't also have the unpleasant side-effect of making people do/say hateful things.
I'm becoming increasingly worried about the things I'm hearing people say and I worry as to where it will all end. Sad

giveitago · 16/11/2010 21:41

'Um, I'm afraid that at least 95% of the population are willing said poppy burners to simply 'go home.'

Where? Yorkshire, Essex, Dorset- the majority of them will be British.

Just because you view something as other doesn't make it foreign. It's British in the main. No good saying 'go home' as they are home.

daftpunk · 16/11/2010 21:48

95% of the population don't want them living here.

wouldliketoknow · 16/11/2010 21:50

99% of spanish/italian/french people don't want british to live there as they don't integrate in their culture.

AlvinStardust · 16/11/2010 21:54

99% of spanish/italian/french people don't want british to live there as they don't integrate in their culture.

but do the British in those countrys get on with their lives or go around causing offense to the local population?

Mumcentreplus · 16/11/2010 21:57

95% of the population don't want them living here.

Don't want who living here?
