Extremists BUrning Poppies

Lucy88 · 14/11/2010 13:26

AIBU to think that the extremists that burnt poppies in London last week should be hung, drawn and quartered?

OP posts:
daftpunk · 14/11/2010 21:16

And I didn't say they would - " naturally obey "

Anyway - this will just go around in circles now. Don't you think it's time to quit ?

I have to get up early tomorrow.

daftpunk · 14/11/2010 21:19

I know Muslims don't have one leader... I'm
not sure I actually said they did.

CoteDAzur · 14/11/2010 21:26

CoteDAzur Sun 14-Nov-10 20:22:56
The fatwa on Rushdie was issued by some nut in Iran.

daftpunk Sun 14-Nov-10 20:35:01
Lol - oh, so all the muslims in the UK ignored it did they? What do think they said - "oh ignore that nutter in Iran we live here now" ? My leader lives in Rome. Am i supposed to ignore him because he doesn't live around the corner?

-----------

Clearly, you thought Iran's Khomeini was a Pope to Muslims - like your "leader" who "lives in Rome".

We are going on and on about this because you are not accepting that you were wrong.

CoteDAzur · 14/11/2010 21:29

Go to bed, then.

Here is to hoping that you will read a book about Islam before posting on one of these threads again.

daftpunk · 14/11/2010 21:50

Yep, I'm going to bed. I've been on mumsnet long enough to know when someone just wants an argument with me - I don't go there anymore, I walk away. That's not me being a coward (I've spent 6 days on threads before arguing my points) I'm just a little tired of it all now tbh. And look, I'm sorry if I've upset you in anyway ( can't think how - but you sound mad with me?) I don't want you to go to bed annoyed about this....

Oh- btw, I'll read up on Islam if you promise to read up on Christianity.

Hitler was never head of the catholic church and has been dead for over 50 years. Minor points to some people I'm sure - but relevant nonetheless...

Heracles · 15/11/2010 01:30

I just think something needs to be done about the extremists who are causing problems for everyone - including Muslims.

Like what? What do you suggest?

I keep reading people saying "something should be done", but what should be done and to who and on what grounds?

Genuine question.

ApocalypseCheese · 15/11/2010 01:33

I think the media shouldnt give them the attention they crave, they are as bad for reporting it imo

Desiderata · 15/11/2010 01:36

I'm mildly surprised they burned the poppies.

Think of the money they could have made in heroin?

Heracles · 15/11/2010 01:51

There's no heroin in the plastic poppies, let me tell you from bitter, painful experience. And those stalks are too thin to even fashion a rudimentary crack-pipe from. It's all very upsetting...

ElisabethAlice · 15/11/2010 02:01

No you're not being unreasonable, it was a disgusting thing to do. Extremely disrespectful.

daftpunk · 15/11/2010 10:25

Heracles;
I've emailed my MP and David Cameron asking why these people are allowed to get away with their very public hatred of our country. ( it's not just the poppy burning - 100's of other examples)
The White, middle-class liberals of this country went mad when Nick Griffin appeared on question time - (NG - leader of a legal legitimate political party of this country) , yet the very same people appear to turn a blind eye to Muslim extremists and their hate speech - why is that? Why aren't they following them around disrupting their protests? I Never get an answer to that one.
You carry on ignoring these Muslim extremists and their - " harmless " protests.
I'll email the government til I get answers.

Heracles · 15/11/2010 12:03

I've emailed my MP and David Cameron asking why these people are allowed to get away with their very public hatred of our country. ( it's not just the poppy burning - 100's of other examples)

That doesn't answer my question though; that's just another way of saying "something must be done!".

I'll ask again: What must be done? To who? And on what grounds? I'd appreciate an answer.

yet the very same people appear to turn a blind eye to Muslim extremists and their hate speech

And yet Griffin is allowed to enter politics, appear on the BBC, head a political party with seats on councils. Could you point me to the Muslim extremists who have achieved thus?

Why aren't they following them around disrupting their protests?

Do you know what? I think I shall. The last time I got riled up by thirty twats spouting rubbish was when a group of carol singers made me miss my tube train and it didn't do anyone any good, ultimately...

daftpunk · 15/11/2010 12:55

I want to know what the government is doing about it -I'm not the MP being paid ££££ to run the country . Its not my job to advise them what to do, they work for me - I want to know what they're doing & why my taxes are supporting people who hate my country - why are these people allowed to stay on benefits ( and a lot of them are on benefits ) when they clearly hate being here? I would arrest them for treason or deport them. These are not a few harmless "anti- war" protestors - " behead anyone who insults Islam " - "Europe you will pay" - Has Nick Griffin ever called for the beheading of anti - BNP supporters, or anyone else? - can you find me just one sentence in the BNPs policies that equates to "hate speech" - find it for me please. The BNP are not radical extremists - they are not on the streets killing MP's yet they are hated and the Muslim extremists are viewed almost affectionately as " harmless nutters" ( did you compare them to Carol singers ???)
I'm sorry - but you sound like the typical misguided - brainwashed liberal this country has developed.

mrsbigw · 15/11/2010 15:50

Daftpunk I can find you a video where they are burning a gollywog for "being black", doesn't that qualify as hate speech?

daftpunk · 15/11/2010 17:09

What - doing that in public ?

If they ( and not sure who "they" are ?? ) were doing that in public then yes, they should have been arrested.

& 2 wrongs do not make a right -
My point is - NG can't sneeze without someone attacking him, even though he's no threat to anyone...
I'd like to see the people who start threads on here attacking NG and the BNP start a few about Muslim extremists, I'd like to know what their views are on them, although I'm not sure they'd be able to square the circle where that's concerned - being liberal apologists and all that ( and being clueless )

mrsbigw · 15/11/2010 17:59

Yes, at their party rally it was all over the news. Griffin would be a huge threat but thankfully not enough people are stupid enough to vote for him.
Cannot abide the BNP or it's supporters so it's time for me to leave this thread :)

daftpunk · 15/11/2010 18:57

At a party rally is not in public.
And I'm not making excuses for the few idiots within the BNP, all parties have their idiots ( Phil Woolas for example - do you know what he did ?) lying cheating bastard.

That's what you've got in the labour party.

Grandhighpoohba · 15/11/2010 22:58

Make your mind up, DP.

daftpunk Sun 14-Nov-10 20:01:39

Well - it's hard sometimes to have a tolerant attitude towards people who aren't tolerant themselves - don't you think?

daftpunk Mon 15-Nov-10 17:09:23

& 2 wrongs do not make a right

SalFresco · 15/11/2010 23:04

"NG can't sneeze without someone attacking him, even though he's no threat to anyone..." Neither is Piers Morgan, but as they are both massive twats, attacks seem inevitable.

I do hope Nick Griffin doesn't end up on a talent show in America.

electra · 15/11/2010 23:19

Actually NG is a threat - he goes around stirring up racial hatred in communities who would otherwise have got on before they heard his racist arse hole propaganda.

Angry
Desiderata · 16/11/2010 00:43

I am very bored by the racist debate.

It seems to me, over the years, that the only people stirring it, are the white middle classes.

Everyone else is too embarrassed to intervene.

electra · 16/11/2010 17:19

Well you shouldn't be 'bored' by it because it's how the holocaust came to be. And I've seen evidence of what damage the BNP can orchestrate.

TheFeministParent · 16/11/2010 17:26

Nobody ignores hate speech, unless it's directed at women and/or the disabled as apparently they're fair gameHmm..

giveitago · 16/11/2010 18:08

daftpunk Sun 14-Nov-10 20:35:01 - that message was plain daft(punk) - yep your leader is in Rome - good for you.

Why do you assume that muslims are lead from Iran? Why would you expect all UK muslims to stand up in arms against the rushdie fatwah? They might not be interested. It might not touch their lives.

You would be upset to be asked to defend your leader in Rome when he 'admitted' that they didn't act fast enough in the abuse cases when we ALL know they acted pretty bloody quickly actually (to defend their priests). Has britain asked all catholics to refute your leader in rome? Nope and to do so would be unfair.

You are being very unreasonable.

daftpunk · 16/11/2010 19:15

I didn't really understand a word of that last post but I'll try and explain one last time:

one man (Salman Rushdie) wrote a book ( the Satanic verses) it was apparently blasphemous against Islam and caused massive controversy around the world. Bookshops were bombed, Muslims held public rallies around the world burning the book, ( you know the drill ) .... I couldn't care less who issued the fatwa, all I know is, Muslims all around the world totally freaked out over that book....

My point is - Muslims (& not all Muslims obviously) will burn anything they find offensive to Islam - all hell breaks loose if they're offended. that's fair enough some might say- all they're doing is being extremely loyal to their religion.
But don't then turn around and say that we ( and when I say we I mean anyone who is offended by Muslims burning poppies etc) haven't got the right to be offended and we should stop reading the Daily Mail.
It's not one rule for them and one rule for us - anyone has the right to be offended.
