To want the scool to come down hard on this boy.

DD2 came home from school yesterday and told me that while the teacher had turned her back (to put on music for aerobics) a boy in her class pulled out his willy and waved it infront of the class. DD is in year 3 so she is 7, this boy is 7 or 8. Now in my opinion this boy should be dealt with harshly to bring home the message that this behavior is not acceptable. I spoke to the headteacher today who said she would inform his parents and let them have a word with him. Do you think that's enough. I was thinking at the very least a week of detentions (but then I am strict with my own children).

What would you feel is an adequate punishment for this sort of behaviour?

YABU.

A week of detentions? Why don't you just get him castrated, hung, drawn & quartered?

It's only a willy fgs. Didn't you ever play "kiss chase" or "knicker chase" at school?

pjmama · 11/11/2010 14:43

You're overreacting.

A week of detention? For that?

I think a message from his parents about appropriate behaviour is more than adequate at that age.

I am wondering just how strict you are...

The first penis I saw was waved at me in a wendy house. I'm fine now.

I think letting his parents deal with it is appropriate and fair.

PerpetuallyAnnoyedByHeadlice · 11/11/2010 14:46

LOL a week of detentions for an 8 yr old??? are you mad??

They have had a word and told his parents and thats all I would expect at this stage

  • he already KNOWS its not acceptable, he just wanted to make people laugh - had he got your DD on her own and forced her to look at/touch his willy that would be a different matter
weblette · 11/11/2010 14:47

For the school to deal with, not you.

Chop his willy off!

hairytriangle · 11/11/2010 14:48

Yabu. Kids do this kind of stuff at that age. A word with the parents should be enough.

HappySlapper · 11/11/2010 14:50

"The first penis I saw was waved at me in a wendy house. I'm fine now"

That happened to me just last week, Shatners! Wink

allluckedout · 11/11/2010 14:50

they don;t have detention at this age. and a total over reaction imo. i'm sure at 8 the boy just thought it was funny rather than it having any sexual meaning to it.
The teacher should have told him it was unacceptable behaviour and that would have been the end of it.

ReformedCharacter · 11/11/2010 14:51

I think the Head teacher is spot on.

madwomanintheattic · 11/11/2010 14:52

i bet it wasn't the first one you've seen though... Wink

MassiveKnob · 11/11/2010 14:52

He is just being a silly boy, willys are a source of entertainment for the troops at that age! He didn't mean anything by it.

grapeandlemon · 11/11/2010 14:53

Did no one take him aside at the time and have a word with him face to face?

madwomanintheattic · 11/11/2010 14:53

oops, cross post. Blush that was to happyslapper lol...

MassiveKnob · 11/11/2010 14:53

Your profile says you are home educating though?

Boys of that age would think this funny. H needs to be given the messagge that it is not acceptable - but not via a week of detention!

flamingpants · 11/11/2010 14:55

Boys will be boys and at that age I bet he was doing it for humour. The more it becomes a big thing (ie huge punishments and make him feel dirty) the more it will be the forbidden fruit.

A sensible chat is exactly what he needs.

Guys in the rugby club at my university were always doing this sort of thing. Usually when the university principal was around. I don't think boys ever grow out of the "willy's are funny" stage!

A stern chat is definitely in order but anything else is just waaaaay too much.

strawberrycake · 11/11/2010 15:08

Lots of small boys find it funny. I taught 8 yr olds and they are not very self-aware regarding nudity at that age. A chat sounds very sensible

HappySlapper · 11/11/2010 15:08

madwomanintheattic Yep, you're right. It'd been a while though.... Wink

emptyshell · 11/11/2010 15:09

He'll have been doing it to show off and get a laugh out of his mates. They don't ever grow out of the phase of being sadly impressed that they've got a trouser worm really.

ShirleyKnot · 11/11/2010 15:10

Barry Tipler used to get his nob out every single time we changed for PE. He used to run around the classroom shouting "WILLYMAN"

He made our teacher cry once.
