How many baths per week is acceptable as a minimum? If no other washes.

nameymcnamechange · 09/11/2010 22:47

3 minimum.

Beamur · 09/11/2010 22:47

Depends on age of DC.
Mine is 3 and has probably 3 a week. On other days its a warm flannel on key areas.
Hair wash every 2 or 3 weeks.

ChippingIn · 09/11/2010 22:48

I think kids should have a bath daily - but bare minimum I'd say 3.

Why do you ask?

ChippingIn · 09/11/2010 22:48

Benur - hair wash every 2 or 3 weeks - really? Shock

pinkjello · 09/11/2010 22:49

I bath 2 of my 3 every night. The other one every other night because she has eczema.

ChippingIn · 09/11/2010 22:50

Sorry Beamur not Benur!

Really though, that's GRIM.

pinkjello · 09/11/2010 22:50

Hair wash every 2 or 3 wks! Shock

Hair wash twice a week here.

Niecie · 09/11/2010 22:51

By no other washes do you mean not even washing face and hands? If so then bath every day as a minimum.

If washing is allowed then 3 times a week. My 2 have 4 baths a week but on other days they have a decent wash.

Jojay · 09/11/2010 22:52

3 - We do Tues, Thurs and Sun.

Boys are 2 and nearly 4. Hairwash once a week.

We tend to bath more in the summer as sunblock makes them really gunky, and DS2 was a really messy eater when he was weaning so he had more baths then, but those days are behind us now.

NeverendingStoryteller · 09/11/2010 22:52

I wash mine when they get really dirty. Their hair gets washed once a week after their swimming lesson. Other days it's a quick wipe down with a baby wipe. They still have friends Grin

bosch · 09/11/2010 22:52

We aim to bath ds's Weds, Fri and Sun. Don't actually wash them, just leave them to soak and play for a bit. Would always wash their hair if I've got them in the bath though.

Weds bath night not happened for some time.

Noticed massive tide mark on ds2 the other day. He cried when I tried to scrub it off.

When I used to bath more often it co-incided with excema.

nannynobnobs · 09/11/2010 22:52

DD2 is 3 and I don't wash her hair more than once a week, usually less. She's 3! A rinse through with bath water and she is good to go.

gorionine · 09/11/2010 22:53

bath and hair washed every other day for DCs 2-3-4. In the summer it might be a bit more as they play out more and get really dirty. It does happen that on some occasion there is a 3 days gap between showers it hat not killed anythem so farSmile

DD1 is 11 and does now shower every day.

chinchi · 09/11/2010 22:53

3 times a week at least. DC are 3, 23 months and 4 months- not sure if thats relevant though.

gorionine · 09/11/2010 22:54

should say bath/shower as actually only DD4 still has baths.

magnolia74 · 09/11/2010 22:55

I aim for every other day but often its more like 2 - 3 times a week.....They don't smell and still look clean!

AcrylicAfternoons · 09/11/2010 22:55

About 2-3 times a week

pinkjello · 09/11/2010 22:57

bath is as much about wind-down as it is about getting them clean. Though I have to admit that mine as always fairly mucky! Grin

thecaptaincrocfamily · 09/11/2010 22:57

Blush OMG I think I must have OCD! I feel guilty if I miss a night. DDs always get a wash AM and bath most nights! Hair every other night Grin.

If bathed only 2 x per week and no other wash/hair at under 6 is that ok?

OP posts:
cece · 09/11/2010 22:57

DD is 9. She has bath and hair wash on Weds and Sat. Plus showers as required...

DS1 is 7. He has bath twice a week (Weds and Sun) and hair washed once a week. Plus the odd wipe with a wet wipe.

DS2 has one bath a week. He is 18 months but has exzema. Never washed his hair with shampoo. Just rinse it through with water.

loonyrationalist · 09/11/2010 22:58

Twice a week - they don't get that dirty and are too small to get sweaty. Hair washed once a week.
Flannel washes inbetween.

I think that many people go vastly over the top & base their children hygenic care on a par with those of an adult. When actually their needs are different.

oneofthosedays · 09/11/2010 23:03

Dcs age 3 and 7 have a bath 3 times a week, DD (7) usually washes hair twice a week and DS (3) once. If they get really mucky or anything they will also get a bath.

thecaptaincrocfamily · 09/11/2010 23:04

Well thats ok, at least I don't feel so guilty for missed days Grin.
Actually mine get filthy doing stuff, face paint, pens, park sliding and splashing in mud Shock, so actually get grubby. Also are all the dc dry at night because mine smell of urine after being in a pull up or nappy at night Hmm

OP posts:
Portofino · 09/11/2010 23:05

DD is 6 and I do bath and hairwash twice a week. Plus she has a shower after swimming.

ChippingIn · 09/11/2010 23:06

Loony - I don't consider a daily bath (for children) to be vastly over the top. I think it's nice for them to go to bed clean - free of mud, paint & sweat!

Their needs are no different to mine - nice clean skin, feeling fresh, smelling clean not stale.

They enjoy it, I'm happy to do it.
