How many baths per week is acceptable as a minimum? If no other washes.

9 year old DD has a bath 3/4 times a week and washes her hair twice a week.

earthpixie · 10/11/2010 13:07

My DS is 3 and 'bathed' about twice a week, hair sluiced with warm water about four times a week during washtime.
Hands and face washed every night, bot done several times a day with baby wipes.
He does get mucky in the exposed areas but these are easily dealt with without a full-on bath. Can't see any harm in a daily bath, though, just haven't got the time (work a 45 hour week!) or energy to do so.
His skin is beautiful and he smells of baby powder (which is odd, 'cos I've never used it..)

Hulababy · 10/11/2010 13:09

8y DD has 2 baths a week and one shower after swimming, each time involves hair wash. It is sometimes more frequent if she needs it. Every morning where there is no bath she gets a decent wash at the sink with warm water and flannels.

I don't think a daily bath is necessary if they are washing.

ben5 · 10/11/2010 13:15

every day they have a bath or shower before putting on pj's. ds2 is austic and this is part of his routine change it and all hell lets loose!!!

Rebeccash · 10/11/2010 13:17

Every night here for my 9 year old ds (though mainly showers rather than a bath) unless we are really busy because he plays alot of sport and gets muddy/smelly. Hair wash about 3/4 times a week.

badfairy · 10/11/2010 13:18

3 times a week max as both have dry skin and get flare ups if they bathe too much.

MooMooFarm · 10/11/2010 13:20

Our younger children have a bath every other day and a flannel wipe of vital areas every morning. Our teenager is frogmarched into the shower every day Grin

DandyDan · 10/11/2010 13:26

Crikey - serious over-bathing here. Thank heaven for Normality...

When they were younger, hairwash once a week. Baths every other day, but mostly depending on how mucky they'd got, so could be fewer. I definitely regarded 2-3 baths in a week as not so much to do with needful cleanliness as fun pre-bedtime play.

DS (almost 3) and DD (1)get a bath 5 times a a week as they go to nursery and I like to get rid of that nursery smell. Though nothing gets rid of glitter (lots of Christmas craft at the moment). DD tends to have a bath more often to remove the remains of her day's food from her hair.

DD (6) has 3, sometimes 4, full baths with hairwash and general overall soaping and scrubbing every week. On other days she has a shower, with lots of soaping of hands, feet, bottom and underarms.

She has a cleanser and moisturiser for her face which she uses assiduously morning and evening.

VivaLeBeaver · 10/11/2010 14:11

In an ideal world 3x a week, but in reality only happens 2x a week - I work a lot of late shifts and DH doesn't seem to get it done. DD will wash her face every night though.

CerealOffender · 10/11/2010 14:13

once a week.

mamasmissionimpossible · 10/11/2010 16:14

1-2 times a week or extra when really dirty. They are 3 and 5. I do make sure they wash their hands, faces and bottoms every day with baby wipes.

PosieComeHereMyPreciousParker · 10/11/2010 16:15

~Everyday, hair twice a week.

Quenelle · 10/11/2010 16:36

DS17mo has a bath every night, because he likes it. He has hair wash every two or three days, or if he's had salmon for dinner (always runs his hands through his hair during dinner and salmon stinks).

HecateQueenOfWitches · 10/11/2010 17:07

mine have a bath every day. We all do. I like to be so clean I squeak Grin

They can last up to a month but once a week is the norm here.

every day they shower, and hair wash 3 times a week. they are 5 & 6.

i shower everyday, at least once, so dont see the difference when they have been at school all day and getting grubby.

cant believe some ppl only wash their children 2 times a week. eeeeewwwwwwww.

MrsDaffodill · 10/11/2010 19:32

Talking of over-washing.... I had five showers yesterday!!

  • before leaving house
  • before my swim (required by leisure centre)
  • after my swim
  • before swim with kids (required by leisure centre)
  • after swim with kids

Kids bath 4 - 5 times a week. Hair washed 1 - 2 times.

muminthecity · 10/11/2010 20:12

DD (5) has a wash every morning and evening when she brushes her teeth, a bath about 3 times a week and hair washed once a week on Sunday nights. Her hair could do with being washed a bit more often but it's just such a bloody ordeal, she hates it and screams the place down when I do it so once a week is about all I can manage!

frgr · 10/11/2010 20:16

Baths, 2 per week, perhaps a shower inbetween if they've got mucky, or it's been very cold outside and they've been out on the bus with me.

certainly no more - i've noticed that my own hair goes very greasy if i get into the habit of bathing every 1 or 2 days, i don't want to start ruining the shiny clean locks our little ones have by over bathing/too much product
