How many baths per week is acceptable as a minimum? If no other washes.

Round of applause for captain Grin

Loony - the dirt/paint/mud seems to sneak in under cuffs, up trouser legs and into their hair! They do get hot and sweaty, yes they might not smell like teenagers (thank god), but I just think it's nice to give them a bath and fresh skin... hardly a crime Grin. Time to agree to disagree me thinks :)

Thanks chip!

LOL you know what they say, brains never equals common sense Grin

loonyrationalist · 09/11/2010 23:32

Hmm you may have a point Pinkjello, dd1 is a bit dirt phobic - she likes every single leaf cleaned off her trampoline (we live in a forest ffs) & all dirt wiped away before she will contemplate using it; I'm pretty certain she would dissolve into tears if someone crumbled leaves into her hair. DD2 is 1 so has a lot more supervision & can't yet penetrate the multiple layers of winter clothing although I can see she may be more trouble in future as I have been greeted by her several times brandishing slugs in my direction.

cakewench · 09/11/2010 23:32

lol @ the leaves Grin

Thanks for the responses. I'm glad to hear it, actually, because I just discovered that Oilatum did a bath oil (only knew the lotion previously) and ordered it online last week on a whim along with some other shopping.

Ha ha ha Loony tis only a matter of time before slugs progress to snails IME! Grin

My dd loves her baths so she has one every night (12 months) hair washed twice a week.

NormalityBites · 09/11/2010 23:36

DD is 4 and I bath her maybe once a month. Maybe.

She washes her face before bed. She washes her hands before meals and after toilet/when they are mucky.

She swims twice a week and mostly showers afterward, but not always.

Hair wash here and there, perhaps monthly.

I wash myself daily and bath approx fortnightly. Shower at home approx weekly. Shower at gym 3x per week. Hair wash after every swim, but max 3x per week.

pinkjello · 09/11/2010 23:37

Oh don't mention slugs.

DD1 once excitedly came to show us 'part' of a slug. Then excitedly told DH how she's eaten the other half but thought it was yucky! She really is a disgusting child!

thecaptaincrocfamily · 09/11/2010 23:50

Shock once per month! Sorry but I really couldn't!

OP posts:
thecaptaincrocfamily · 09/11/2010 23:51

At 4 I think lots of children don't wash below properly or wipe properly after a poo. I think that is unclean.

Desiderata · 09/11/2010 23:55

I don't wash my ds very often.

Funny, most of the parents who bore us shitless about recycling and the environment are the ones who bathe the kids every day. What a waste of water.

Square that one, weirdos.

pinkjello · 09/11/2010 23:59

But I honestly connot comprehend how dirty mine would be without daily baths (esp DD1)

Maybe my children are just feral! Confused

Starbuck999 · 10/11/2010 00:00

I bath/shower and wash my hair daily. I just love that squeaky clean feeling and it appears my dd (6) has inherited it. She often asks for a bath and has one every night (unless we are out late at a party, fireworks etc) she washes her hair every other day. Plus it makes for a good bedtime routine, bath story then bed....

Starbuck999 · 10/11/2010 00:02

Normality bites - I do hope you're joking, if not, then that is quite disgustingly dirty!

winnybella · 10/11/2010 00:08

Desiderata, DS is 8 and doesn't take a shower every day, but DD(21 mo) is filthy at the end of the day- food in her hair, sticky from a spilled juice, felt tips all over etc. No choice here.

galletti · 10/11/2010 00:12

DD - 10 Two baths min a week, plus the odd shower, hair once a week - used to be on a Sunday before school week, now Monday afer swimming lesson. On its way up though at her instigation - need to add that second bathroom soon!

Desiderata · 10/11/2010 00:14

Ach! I'm only being me!

The thing is, when it comes to bathing kids, it depends on the routine you got into when they were babies.

I was far too idle to wash a newborn, and it went on from there.

He doesn't smell, because he isn't old enough to smell. When he does, he can draw the bath himself.

I clean his earwax, blow Batisse on his hair every other day, and scrub green bits with wet wipes.

But a full submersion .. every day???? Try selling that to the African bush.

BadPoet · 10/11/2010 00:16

Confused am I the only one who read that Normality's dd is showering once or twice a week at swimming? Fail to see how that is digustingly dirty, esp at 4yo!

Mine get a bath twice a week and shower at swimming once. Generally hair is washed twice too. It's more in summer, they get dirtier.

Desiderata · 10/11/2010 00:20

Mine's never even been swimming. He'd sink like a stone!
