Or surrounded by * * * *S

(fred about a fred)

or posted by me

dementedma · 03/11/2010 14:32

Yes - why would you want to?

DanceInTheDark · 03/11/2010 14:35

oh

that was supposed to say "surrounded by SNOT"

OP posts:
WhyHavePets · 03/11/2010 14:35

Of course you are, I am off to tell on you ner ner ner ner Wink

daftpunk · 03/11/2010 14:36

I think it's pathetic tbh, really shows how low the poster is. Y'know the "C" word is still highly offensive to many people and to put it in a thread is - offensive.

DanceInTheDark · 03/11/2010 14:37

Shock pets

OP posts:
CornishKK · 03/11/2010 14:39

It's my favourite swear word, please use it with abandon.

GunpowderTreasonAndSNOTSleeves · 03/11/2010 14:41

lol at daftpunk feigning interest in what constitutes "offensive" to most MNers

you'll be revising 99% of your "views" then, following this epiphany

every cloudWink

daftpunk · 03/11/2010 14:44

Hmm, I usually find the people who use this word are total chavs, no style, no class. just a big mouth.

And to actually take the time to type it out??

Even worse.

mamadiva · 03/11/2010 14:45

To be fair it is a horrid word and I was moaned at years ago when I first joined for using a mild swear word in a thread title as it was frowned upon Hmm

But then again freedom of speech and all... or is that selective to who is most popular? :o

MoralDefective · 03/11/2010 14:46

'Hide this thread button' springs to mind.
I thoughthe 'c' word was Blush cancer.
MN front page says it is.
Can't we just say cunt.
RECLAIM THE WORD Grin

GunpowderTreasonAndSNOTSleeves · 03/11/2010 14:46

see, I feel the same way about "chav"

same number of letters tooShock

does it take you a while to type "chav", dp? Bless

KaraStarbuckThrace · 03/11/2010 14:46

Well I'd rather see the word cunt used in a way not aimed at a particular person, than some of the bigoted vitriol you come out with, DP.

Pot - Kettle, is all I can say.

Oh and OP YABVVVVVU. It should be cuntING Grin

daftpunk · 03/11/2010 14:46

I rarely swear on MN or in RL. The furthest I've ever gone is "fuck"..... And not often,

MoralDefective · 03/11/2010 14:48

Well I like swearing,it's big and it's clever.

KaraStarbuckThrace · 03/11/2010 14:49

I don't object to swearing, except when it is aimed at a particular person. Swear words can add to the richness of the English language when used in the right context.
And 'chav' is very declassé.

GetOrfMoiLand · 03/11/2010 14:51

I like the freedom of speech element to MNHQ.

DP you know full well that what you post sometimes really offends people - however people accept that you are here and those are your views. You are not banned from voicing your opinions in discussions.

Likewise the same courtesy should be extended to sqwearing.

daftpunk · 03/11/2010 14:52

Look, I just hate the word ok. I'd never report anyone for using it, I'd never get overly concerned about it, I just don't think it's appropriate for use in thread titles.

I don't like AnyFuckers name, I think that's inappropriate, but I've never complained to MNHQ about it. I told her to her face.

And I think she told me to naff off. Which is fair enough.

StrawberryDawn · 03/11/2010 14:53

Depends - if it seems like the OP has just reached the end of his/her tether and is in desperate need of a vent I don't mind so much. It bothers me more if it seems like the OP is just using it for shock value to make more people pay attention to their post.

It's a pretty ugly word though.

GunpowderTreasonAndSNOTSleeves · 03/11/2010 14:54

I think you just couldn't resist the opportunity to have a little pop, could you dp?

but if it leads to you moderating your own posts for offensive material, then everyone's a winner

mamadiva · 03/11/2010 14:54

So does that mean it's fine to swear in titles then?

OP YANBU, being Glasweigan I have to say I never really stop swearing when there are no children around, somehow my Tourettes seems to clear up during the day and then comes out with avengance at night :o

DP, you causing trouble again? How dare you speak Wink

JaneS · 03/11/2010 14:54

Oh, I like cunt. I'm not chavvy, just educated enough to know and appreciate the etymology of the word. It's nice.

Hulababy · 03/11/2010 14:56

I don't mind others swearing much TBH. It has its place. Not keen when it is every other word - heard enough of that in the prison where I worked to put me off for a lifetime. It just sounds common when used with abondon IMO. But hey - each to theri own. I chose not to swear, but again - my choice.

However I don't particulalry like swearing in thread titles as I know many people leave MN on their computer - myself included - and have chldren capable of reading. I don't leave
