Or surrounded by * * * *S

BPB;

Really not sure why you're being so personal here, do we know each other?
Anyway;
In answer to your question; why does it matter if you're male or female. It doesn't matter to me what you are, it's just females tend to not use the C word as frequently as men, in fact I've never heard a woman use it in RL. And if you want to bring feminism into it, women are fooling themselves if they think swearing like a man "liberates" them in some way. It doesn't. It just makes them sound like sluts. ( imo )

Women should retain their femininity, not try and imitate men. My dh loves women who are women, and I think he's fairly typical.

Unrulysun · 03/11/2010 17:55

Did you know there used to be a London street called 'Gropecunt Lane'?

There's a desirable address for you.

BonniePrinceBilly · 03/11/2010 18:01

Nowt personal, just answering your questions.

I think you missed my point entirely. Yes men use the word cunt more than women and it is seen as a worse/stronger swear word than any based on the male anatomy. Do you not wonder why that is? Its nothing to do with being liberated (are you not liberated? I am).

What the fuck is femininity anyway? Dress like a lady, shave yourself and paint yourself to look like a man wants you too, speak how they want you too, act how they want you to. You can keep your flavour of femininity, I don't need it.
My DH also loves women who are women. Thats because all women are in fact women, the clue is in the name. If you want to conform to your husbands image of how you should be, you go right ahead, don't expect the rest of us to applaud you.

I still think he sounds like a bit of a cunt.

No, you're missing my point. In womens bid to be
"free" they've taken on traditional male traits. Swearing, drinking until they pass out, sleeping around. These are not qualities we should be aspiring to. I have two daughters, if they end up getting drunk out of their heads every Friday night, sleeping with men who's names they can't even remember and using disgusting language, I will feel I've failed as a mother.

Feminism is about equality and freedom to make our own choices. It's not about acting like a drunken tart.

We are the ultimate role model for our daughters for gods sake.

Unrulysun · 03/11/2010 18:39

Please let's not have 'feminism' in the same paragraph as 'tart' or I might think I'm back in 1972.

BonniePrinceBilly · 03/11/2010 18:39

No, I' get your point, and its ridiculous. You contradict yourself in one sentence!
"Feminism is about equality and freedom to make our own choices. It's not about acting like a drunken tart"
Maybe my choice IS to be a drunken tart?

I am nobodies role model, I can do and be what I like. There are no male and female traits, anyone can be who they want.

You can keep your traditional roles and your failures, I can say CUNT as much as I like.

TiggyD · 03/11/2010 18:42

You're fine as long as the thread isn't about Motherscare.

daftpunk · 03/11/2010 18:50

Ok, feminism has taken you back then. you think it's progress for women to act like that do you? because I don't. We are in charge of our own lives now, we can buy our own property, run our own businesses, we aren't totally dependent on men ( although I don't think there's anything wrong with being dependant on a man) if all you can do with feminism is go out and sleep around, you are no better than a dog. Have some respect for yourself.

GunpowderTreasonAndSNOTSleeves · 03/11/2010 18:52

and suddenly the word "cunt" doesn't seem quite so offensive after all....

DanceInTheDark · 03/11/2010 18:54

"feminism is about ...freedom to make our own choices"

So i can say cunt if i want. And you can disagree if you want.

It's not feminism it's life. YOu win some you lose some.

think it's kind of pathetic myself, moronic

GunpowderTreasonAndSNOTSleeves · 03/11/2010 19:01

but if we banned pathetic people who post moronic threads it would be very quiet around here

PlentyOfPockets · 03/11/2010 19:07

I love the word and use it fairly often in real life situations. Sometimes I use it in its literal sense - during romantic situations with my DP. Other times, I use it as a term of endearment for close friends. I'd never call somebody one in anger but my computer gets called one quite frequently.

I haven't found that using the word interferes with my ability to be in charge of my own life, buy property or anything else.

southeastastra · 03/11/2010 19:14

i didn't say anything about banning anyone just said i thought it sounded moronic :S

Unrulysun · 03/11/2010 19:17

I call my friends 'cunty' as a term of endearment but we are, as this shows, no better than dogs. :( In fact my mate Claire has just got divorced and she's like a bitch in heat. She has a phd in Anatomy and Physiology as well though and I think that this random set of facts proves something quite deep and meaningful, I'm just not sure what it is.

GunpowderTreasonAndSNOTSleeves · 03/11/2010 19:20

sea the wider issue at hand is whether or not the use of the word in thread titles should be banned

IMO your thinking it is pathetic and moronic doesn't constitute grounds for banning it

that's what I meant

BonniePrinceBilly · 03/11/2010 19:20

try to understand the difference between the personal and the political, daftpunk. I have plenty of respect for myself, but little for you.
I've found the worst misogynists are in fact women.

southeastastra · 03/11/2010 19:26

oh sorry half asleep, yes ban it during daylight hours in case children see it.

GunpowderTreasonAndSNOTSleeves · 03/11/2010 19:27

I wouldn't be bothered if they banned it during daylight hours or whatever

I do however take exception to being deleted when other threads with the same swear word are left to stand

ForMashGetSmash · 03/11/2010 19:35

Ode to the Cunt

Oh ancient word of disputed origin
you make me feel so glad!
I love your single consonant
and the fact that you make folk mad!

Cunt and cock are not so strange,
but share some things in common!
A C word for each sex you see,
one each for man and woman.

So of cock and cunt we all must sing,
they're only dick and pussy!
Let's drink a toast to a cunty cunt,
and not be so bloody fussy!

(dedicated to DaftPunk)

daftpunk · 03/11/2010 19:39

No, Women using bad language doesn't interfere with buying property etc, it just makes the woman sound common and slutish that's all.

And breaking feminism down, who are the real winners? - men.

Years ago only a certain type of woman would sleep around, now it's normal for a lot of women to behave in that way, men can't believe their luck. The western world is full of readily available women quite happy to indulge in casual sex. ( All thanks to feminists putting single women on the pill, which is now being dished out to 13 year olds ). Men can get a woman pregnant and just walk away, knowing full well he's not really needed anymore. A woman dependent on a man? Shock horror! That's what feminism has given us, single mothers and women with morals in the gutter.
Which is why more and more women are turning to Islam, intelligent women are rejecting feminism, - they want to go back to how things were. It's gone full circle, as most things do.

scottishmummy · 03/11/2010 19:43

islam and feminism arent mutually exclusive.
