There are a few posters who do this.

I really don't like it, totally changes the "voice" of the post in my head.

You know how everyone is going to end their replies, don't you...

backwardpossom · 11/10/2010 22:08

YABU...

(And the prize for the most predictable post of the thread goes to me!)

SirBoobAlot · 11/10/2010 22:08

Really...

Huh... That's odd...

TheFallenMadonna · 11/10/2010 22:08

I do it. I think I do it to change the voice of the post. I probably won't stop...

MmeBodyInTheBasement · 11/10/2010 22:08

This was rather predictable...

chiefcook · 11/10/2010 22:08

I'm guilty...

SacharissaCripslock · 11/10/2010 22:09

I sometimes do it...

KatyMac · 11/10/2010 22:09

It has a real name is it an ellipsis or something?

caramelwaffle · 11/10/2010 22:10

Changing the tone is the whole point........................................................ ...

LittleCheesyPineappleOne · 11/10/2010 22:10

They're not full stops.

It's called an ellipsis.

I rather like it...

chegggersplayspop · 11/10/2010 22:10

I like it. It's useful when you just want to trail off....

KatyMac · 11/10/2010 22:10

[[http://www.informatics.sussex.ac.uk/department/docs/punctuation/node40.html here...]

lilolilmanchester · 11/10/2010 22:10

when I do it, it's not 3 "full stops". It's either for linking... (e.g. thread title into thread) or because there is more to the sentence that I don't need/want/know how to write...

Just doen it this evening so suspect I'm one of the people who annoyed you...

KatyMac · 11/10/2010 22:11

oops here...

SpookilyDoodleydoohoohoooooo · 11/10/2010 22:12

that'll be me then............

ThatDamnDog · 11/10/2010 22:12

YABU not to have posted this in Pedants' Corner ... and yes, I'm sure it's an ellipsis :)

said · 11/10/2010 22:12

Why not? I like it, find it very useful to show I'm just drifting off, thinking (typing aloud)...

chegggersplayspop · 11/10/2010 22:12

So basically it's only you that doesn't do it.....

How would you make 'ellipsis' into a plural?

huffythethreadslayer · 11/10/2010 22:13

Guilty. I do it for a dramatic pause. Apologies.

laweaselmys · 11/10/2010 22:13

I love...

Pogleswood · 11/10/2010 22:14

I do this all the time - and I too am doing it deliberately,to change the the voice of the post.Grin

Or at least that's my excuse...

JaneS · 11/10/2010 22:15

ellipses, I guess ...

Pogleswood · 11/10/2010 22:15

Ellipses,KatyMac??
