There are a few posters who do this.

I really don't like it, totally changes the "voice" of the post in my head.

[Fussy, moi? Grin]

fernie3 · 11/10/2010 22:50

I ...do...this...
It just makes me feel warm inside Grin

RandomMusings · 11/10/2010 22:50

ah, now thighs, this ::is a way to get emoticons into your text

ie

::forumtart:: (which produces a gurning smilie)

see?

RandomMusings · 11/10/2010 22:50

fernie grrrrrrrrrrrr

Miffles · 11/10/2010 22:50

huh?

pluperfect · 11/10/2010 22:51

Nope

Miffles · 11/10/2010 22:51

random... what's with the :: ?

RandomMusings · 11/10/2010 22:52

post of 22.50 for ThighsWideShut

SanctiMoanyArse · 11/10/2010 22:52

Yeah, what TFM said....

it's deliberate....

OK?......

Saves time writing endless lists to complete a statement when everyone knows the natural path you are taking; is good.

Jellykat · 11/10/2010 22:52

OOO Thighswideshut... Of course----> That'll do nicely - TA!!

Shodan · 11/10/2010 22:53

I like a nice ellipsis. Sometimes, though, I get a little bit trigger-happy and instead of finishing my sentence in the approved fashion I do this................

I don't know why. I'm thinking of joining Over-Punctuators Anonymous.

Heathcliffscathy · 11/10/2010 22:55

I totally do this....AND i don't use caps much.

I should be first against the wall come the pedant's revolution

ThighsWideShut · 11/10/2010 22:57

::Nope:: ::still:: ::don't:: ::get:: ::it::

How can it be an emoticon? Am I just realllllly thick?

ThighsWideShut · 11/10/2010 22:59

"first against the wall come the pedant's revolution" Grin

ProfessorLaytonIsMyLoveSlave · 11/10/2010 22:59

I do it a lot at the end of sentences, but then I do the equivalent when speaking in real life too (ramble on and then sort of peter out like this...)

I do it occasionally in mid-sentence to indicate a meaningful pause, but only occasionally, I think.

RandomMusings · 11/10/2010 23:01

oh bum didn't explain well

on here you do bracket word bracket and up pops the emoticon

on other forums if you do colon colon word colon colon then you get the icon

same idea

poorly explained

bracket blush bracket

nemofish · 11/10/2010 23:01

I am definitely guilty.

I think it makes me seem mysterious...

I will try and restrain myself in future! Wink

MmeBodyInTheBasement · 11/10/2010 23:01

I don't get this :: either. How can that look like a grin?

MmeBodyInTheBasement · 11/10/2010 23:02

Ah, I get it. Other fora use :: instead of [ ] ?

ThighsWideShut · 11/10/2010 23:02

Ah, I see.

Thanks Random, I get ya!

Shitemum · 11/10/2010 23:02

Is it me the OP is complaining about? I always do it...

Diziet · 11/10/2010 23:02

Me too, ProfLayton... I tend to type as I speak, sort of thing. I love punctuation, me. And spelling. But not grammar, can't be doing with that. Or hard sums.

sixpercenttruejedi · 11/10/2010 23:02

ThighsWideShut · 11/10/2010 23:03
