I do it quite alot but only if it is supposed to convey something. If it changes the 'voice' of the post then perhaps that was the desired effect!

I do this with a degree of regularity also. They are my pregnant pauses and I have used them when not pregnant.

I had a partner who used to do it all through anything he ever wrote to me. He was an overdramatic sod which explains it.

As for upsetting your sense of 'voice' of the OP, like when you see the film of a book I assume (?) (Bet you like my question mark in brackets there..?)...........erm, when I read your name it makes me think of gymkhana and thus a little thelwell character with pigtails which really doesn't fit with your 'voice' OP
