She said I could Wink

"Apparently I'm supposed to post a sexually tinted description of where I keep my handbag as my status. Allegedly this will help raise awareness of breast cancer.

Information about how and when to examine ones breasts would obviously be of no use whatsoever. Neither would be mentioning the significance of breastfeeding in reducing ones risk of developing breast cancer.

OK"

Now, I don't know this 'friend' well (I've not seen her for years) but I like her a whole lot more than I already did after this.

Is that why so many of my friends have been saying "I like it on the bench beside the aga". I have been resolutely ignoring it, so it hasn't really raised awareness of breast cancer much. Hmm

Aah, that explains a strange status from on of my friends about liking it on the hall table. Certainly not raising my awareness of anything.

Avocadoes · 08/10/2010 19:39

She sounds humourless. If not down right sanctimonious.

Ieattoomuchcake · 08/10/2010 19:39

That's a cracking update. I might copy and paste it onto my own page!!

DebiTheScot · 08/10/2010 19:41

Afaik the handbag one has nothing to do with breast cancer. The what colour if bra you're wearing one that did the rounds a few months ago was meant to be to do with breast cancer but this one is just about trying to get people talking and to get in the papers as the other one did.

I only know that because one of my fb friends sent me a message about it to tell me to do it.

TigersChick · 08/10/2010 19:42

I agree with Avacados - and anyone who says it's not raising their awareness ... erm ... you're talking about it now (like watsthestory says) Grin

FallingWithStyle · 08/10/2010 19:42

Well this is the first I knew that there was an alleged point to it.
So your friend has done more to raise awareness than divvy "I like it by the front door" nonsense.

I am humourless too. Mine says
'Adair supports breast cancer awareness'.

FallingWithStyle · 08/10/2010 19:44

...and is it really about breast cancer awareness? Or is it just another juvenile fb status thingie that attaches itself to some good cause just to feed the ego of whatever nobboid came up with it?

God I fecking hate Facebook Grin

When I got that message I posted the following as my status:

SweetnessAndShite prefers not to announce to the entire cyber world the precise location of her credit cards, money and keys for security reasons.

Very wary of this one. Load of crap IMO.

I find it quite annoying and boring - it's raising awareness - everyone is aware of breast cancer anyway surely? Better to raise money for cancer research than just awareness.

ramyr · 08/10/2010 19:55

forgot to say - YANBU and I like your name

SweetnessAndShite · 08/10/2010 19:55

Very lazy reporting. For a start this is the 2nd time this one had gone round. The other was ages ago.
