Yes, yes it's a thread about threads. Yes it's grumpy. But FFS what is going on MN?? Can we please ban the following on AIBU:

Facebook threads

Threads where the OP is 62 paragraphs long (fair enough if it's emotional with a long back story but when it's about a fight with your MIL over a satsuma - MAKE IT SHORT)

Gender threads - no-one likes their sons more than their daughters ok??

Fabricated dialogue - 'a man in the supermarket told me to remove my dd's filthy little hand from his trolley or he would call security, AIBU to tell him to piss off?'. No he didn't say that. You are making it up. Go away.

Any others?

OP posts:
thumbwitch · 27/09/2010 10:44

Honey, not stupid - but if someone has managed to do that comeback that people usually only think of 3 hours later, it is a little sus. :)

FetchezLaVache · 27/09/2010 10:44

Massively long OPs not split into separate paragraphs for ease of reading.

Morloth · 27/09/2010 10:44

YABU what would we talk about? I like arguing about satsumas.

MorrisZapp · 27/09/2010 10:44

All the ones where casual chit chat is taken as a grave personal insult, esp with regard to pregnancy, number of children, gender of children etc.

Guaranteed to be followed by 'YANBU tell the judgemental bastards to fuck off' because some unsuspecting workmate has said 'It would be nice if you had one of each' or something.

HappyMummyOfOne · 27/09/2010 10:44

The heating ones - lasting until a certain date with no heating doesnt make you a saint.

ShirleyKnot · 27/09/2010 10:47

yy Morris, that drives me insane.

Honeydragon · 27/09/2010 10:48

Thanks thumb!

Francagoestohollywood · 27/09/2010 10:51

Oh yes Morris... I've seen pregnant posters getting upset by people innocently asking them "do you know what you are having?"...

theyoungvisiter · 27/09/2010 10:53

[snort] at "Still gives DH his bath"

On a roll here, ones which accord the OP's husband NO responsibility at all in the situation and push all the blame off onto some poor bystander female when in reality the OP's husband should grow a pair.

Eg: "AIBU to hate my MIL - she is such a cow - she kept filling DH's glass of wine at dinner even though she KNOWS I'm due in 3 weeks. AIBU to think that she should have had more fricking consideration for the fact that I'm PREGNANT and might go into labour at any moment and might need DH sober? Now DH is drunk and will probably have a hangover tomorrow and I'm nearly 37 weeks shouldn't MIL know better Angry Angry Angry"

abr1de · 27/09/2010 10:54

Faith sChools.

Serendippy · 27/09/2010 10:58

You may snort but stranger things have been claimed...

-AIBU to ask you this question?
-YES, put it in chat! I only come here to abuse and judge, not to chitchat. GET OUT!

-AIBU to have described someone as when trying to arrange a meet up?
-Yes and racist/sexist/agist/homophobic

-AIBU please don't judge me. -YABU, and you have been judged

Ooooh, I am on a roll too!

jonicomelately · 27/09/2010 10:58

Please nobody suggest style and beauty 'What do you think about these boots/trousers/dress' threads.

They are the online equivalent of taking a mate to the shops to run stuff past them before you buy Grin

DomesticG0ddess · 27/09/2010 10:58

"Threads which specifically ask for the attention of named MNers. Or blatantly just want to lick arse. Fuck off."

Couldn't agree more!

megapixels · 27/09/2010 11:00

I am a bit Hmm at the ones where someone posts something like "There's a foul-mouthed, usually drunk, loutish woman with 500 kids who's moved in next door and she sometimes leaves her children out till 10 pm. AIBU to feel judgy?" and people post things like "YABU. She probably has PND. Offer to babysit her child/children sometime". REALLY? REALLY??? Do people just approach random chavswomen and offer to take care of their children? What saints.

GetOrfMoiLand · 27/09/2010 11:00

lolol at wishingchair getting worked up at her invented AIBU scenario Grin

MorrisZapp · 27/09/2010 11:00

Yup youngvisiter, this board is awash with posters who think their MIL/ SIL/ DH's female boss etc is a complete cow for not stopping their DH from behaving like an idiot.

But DH isn't pulled up for being an idiot as he is 'too laid back' or 'too nice' to see the manipulation of the nasty lady and the blame must go straight to the woman.

Or the ones with the SILs who display crap parenting skills 'My SIL lets her kids eat junk and then gives them mixed messages about bedtime' 'oh, what does your brother think about this?' 'er, um, well it's not his fault he just does what she says...'

etc etc, total sexist copout imo.

withorwithoutyou · 27/09/2010 11:00

Threads where people assume you know the back story because they are a regular and post 5000 threads a week about their SIL or whoever.

OrmRenewed · 27/09/2010 11:02

Satsumas? Anyone got any satsumas? I love satsumas. But nice ones that taste as they should. Not crappy ones with tough skin and no flavour.

pagwatch · 27/09/2010 11:04

I hate the threads where the OP decides that the quickest way to get the bigots on a roll is to pick the target group most beloved by a certain group.
So don't say 'AIBU to think this woman was rude to try and push in'
That will just get you 'gosh yes, how very rude'

You must say 'AIBU to think that this old woman was rude to push in'

Then you will get your fill of 'fucking right, bitchy fucking old cow, old bag, old bat - miserable old bitch' and 'some old cows think they can say anything becuase they are old...they should just dieeeeeee'

I am amazed at how many women are so keen to join the world in loathing women beyond middle age. It seems so lacking common sense and self interest

Francagoestohollywood · 27/09/2010 11:08

lol at "giving mixed messages about bedtime"

ChippingIn · 27/09/2010 11:09

Pag - It seems so lacking common sense and self interest Grin

oooh I love style & beauty "what do you think of these threads". And most of the time if the original items are despised then they offer alternatives. Has opened my eyes to loads of new online shops.

I really dislike the gender threads too - and it does seem to me half the time Mum A prefers child B because of their personality rather than gender anyway. It's just another form of bigtry.

hate smug food threads 'AIBU to think SS should intervene because this woman occasionally feeds her children pizza/tomato ketchup/fishfingers/ frozen peas/ any other food but especially ones where if they'd bothered to check they'd have realised it is actually quite healthy.
