Yes, yes it's a thread about threads. Yes it's grumpy. But FFS what is going on MN?? Can we please ban the following on AIBU:

Facebook threads

Threads where the OP is 62 paragraphs long (fair enough if it's emotional with a long back story but when it's about a fight with your MIL over a satsuma - MAKE IT SHORT)

Gender threads - no-one likes their sons more than their daughters ok??

Fabricated dialogue - 'a man in the supermarket told me to remove my dd's filthy little hand from his trolley or he would call security, AIBU to tell him to piss off?'. No he didn't say that. You are making it up. Go away.

Any others?

OP posts:
Laquitar · 28/09/2010 23:23

Threads about shop assistants, waitresses, teachers. When the OP is 'fuming' at a mistake done due to tiredness and she thinks they are lazy/thick/undereducated. Especially when OP hasn't work a single day in her life.

TheShriekingHarpy but Cod is still with us

cyteen · 29/09/2010 15:23

99% of the internet is terminally boring, and MN is no exception.

GetOrfMoiLand · 29/09/2010 15:24

Christmas tightarse comments.

'I spend £20 on my child"

I spend more than that on wrapping paper. Yes, it is wasteful. Yes, it is consumerism gone mad. Yes, I could spend my money on something more worthy.

But hey, I am working class, conspicuous consumption on shite is what we do. You can spend your money on a new compost bin. I am gonna spend it on SHITE at Christmas.

Also, am I the only person with no small children of my own who STILL loves looking through teh toys in the Argos catalogue.

BelleDameSansMerci · 29/09/2010 15:30

Oh GetOrf I think I love you!

LetThereBeRock · 29/09/2010 15:55

Can we ban people who post on baby name threads, which aren't their own, only so they can say 'How dare you say that Alphonsus is a terrible name!? That's my son's/partner's name, you bitch!'

I don't care if it is your son's name. I don't give a toss if you're offended. It's not your thread. It's not about you.

GetOrfMoiLand · 29/09/2010 15:58

Grin belledame

BelleDameSansMerci · 29/09/2010 16:02

GetOrf may I steal your quote for my Facebook status? Smile

GetOrfMoiLand · 29/09/2010 16:07

Of course you can

thefirstmrsDeVere · 29/09/2010 16:10

Please dont ban threads about nannies who dont hand make pasta and forget to use organically sourced, hand made, sugar free, weaved by virgins cheese cubes in the lunch boxes Shock

Because they can brighten the darkest day Grin

Competative present buying, to follow on from GetOrfMoiLand's comment, can go one of 2 ways:

AIBU to think that £300 is a lot to spend per child at Christmas?

YANBU, my children only get a satsuma (that just keeps popping up!) and a kitkat and count themselves lucky, Christmas is now too materialistic, it is about family and baby Jesus, etc etc.

or

YABU, how do you know that they are not getting school uniform/other necessities as part of their Christmas presents? Some parents save up all year for this, I bet you spend money on your DCs all the time whereas these families are just doing it once in the year, etc etc.

No win.

thefirstmrsDeVere · 29/09/2010 16:13

Getorf I love you.

I think Christmas is for overcompensating and thinking about the Baby Jesus.

I have delayed my return to work so as not to miss the Sainsbury's half price toy sale. I have a hundred quids worth of nectar points and I am going to spend them ALL on toys.

Yes thats right, two hundred quids worth of toys. Hurray!!!

BelleDameSansMerci · 29/09/2010 16:14

Done!

spikeycow · 29/09/2010 16:16

Threads where the man is a fucking bomb waiting to go off and braindead thinks he's a lovely guy Angry

JenaiMarrHePlaysGuitar · 29/09/2010 16:42

Ouch, spikey. Although I'm inclined to agree.

OTOH I second CuppaTea's nomination for those threads where everyone piles in with "leave the bastard!" when someone's dp has displayed mild narkiness.

My biggest hate has to be those entirely fabricated AIBU threads though, as mentioned already.

GetOrfMoiLand · 29/09/2010 16:50

"I think Christmas is for overcompensating and thinking about the Baby Jesus" I love that sentiment Grin

I am also very happy and my faith in mumsnet is restored at the fact I am not the only christmas overspender. You can never have too many selection boxes, in my view.

I am COMPLETELY unreasonable as well as i am a confirmed atheist, however have an old tape (TAPE!) of christmas carols which I put on full blast and sing along to, and especially love O Come All Ye Faithful.

scottishmummy · 29/09/2010 17:55

the wild guessing threads were people immediately presume mental illness for any misdemeanour, unsavoury act,any criminality or plain ole aibu

or someone rocks up and says "you're depressed" and ignores when op protests and says no im not

BadgersArse · 29/09/2010 17:55

why not just come over to twitter?

brimfull · 29/09/2010 17:58

I'm not getting twitter at all.

am afraid I'll get addicted if I actually tyr and get it tho
