AIBU to wish people would say 'mischievous' rather than 'mischievious'?

And to wish that people would notice the difference between prostate and prostrate?

Too much time on my hands on a Sunday morning...

Wilson Philips

The song was 'Hold On'.

Must really go and do some work...

Bechka · 12/09/2010 22:10

YANBU, drives me nuts!

Olifin · 12/09/2010 22:14

Oh yes staranise Wilson Philips.

I can recommend anyone who has Spotify to do a search for the Flying Pickets. Not only can you access the pure delight that is 'Only You', but also, a quite staggeringly phenomenal acappella version of Nirvana's 'Teen Spirit'. Unbelievable musical treat. I implore you to go and listen to it.

Thank you Bechka!

The spritzers are flowing... Wink

Hi ChippingIn Smile

Obviously there's a huge difference between something formally submitted as a piece of writing (and yet they still do it, why, WHY? Angry) and more relaxed chat, verbal or on the internet. And everyone makes mistakes and typos.

What get me all in a lather - and this is just my point of view, I've admitted I'm a pedant and quite possibly way too far up my own arse - is the thing about standards slipping generally because so many people say 'it doesn't matter, expression is all-important and we shouldn't make such a fuss about the rules'. It really, really irks me.

Don't get me started on textspeak Grin. Or the 'in Shakespeare's day everyone spelt things the way they felt like writing them, what's wrong with that?' argument.

They are staranise

Dear me. I have a school run to do tomorrow. And er...not much else.

PS Olifin Wilson Pickett was the really cool guy who got out of the taxi at the very end of The Commitments, if that means anything at all (all I know about him Grin).

Wilson Phillips were daughters of Beach Boys and Mamas and Papas, which I always thought was quite fab.

I'll get my coat.

ChippingIn · 12/09/2010 22:22

Olifin Only You - Flying Pickets - pure delight?? Hmm Enjoyable - hmm, Pure Delight?? noooooo. Nirvana - Teen Spirit ok in a pub when you've been drinking :)

staranise · 12/09/2010 22:25

I don't think you would have wanted to be John Phillips' daughter...

Olifin · 12/09/2010 22:39

Nooooo, chippingIn

Flying Pickets Only You= pure delight. Perhaps only because it takes me back to my youth.

When I say 'Teen Spirit', I mean the Flying Pickets' version. Honestly, Spotify it, it is a marvellous treat. OH didn't agree particularly so maybe it's just me?

As alternatives, can I please offer up Pulp's 'You're a Nightmare' and Amy Winehouse's 'Love is a Losing Game'?

At this point, it becomes very clear that I have been on the spritzers and am losing myself in Spotify treats. And I might even go and take advantage of my husband. If he's still awake.

What is 'Spotify' - I was watching them on YouTube?!

ChippingIn · 12/09/2010 23:25

Oh - you're probably taking advantage of hubby by now!.... oh actually, that was an hour ago, advantage taken, cigarette smoked & fast asleep by now...

Olifin · 13/09/2010 09:09

Chipping, you're right. :)

How's your head now?

Olifin · 14/09/2010 00:33

Fine now thanks Chipping. Managed to accomplish quite a lot today, considering.

Very embarrassed about my repetitive ramblings now. Was fun at the time though.

Off to bed in a minute; should have gone hours ago probably.

LOL - what would MN be without repetitive ramblings?? Grin
