I got a pair from my mum last Christmas and I'm a ugg worshipper now, they're so ruddy comfy I could sleep in them!
I just don't get why they are hated on MN?!

YABU. They are ugly and make people's feet go sideways. And they always look all soggy and scruffy.

BelligerentGhoul · 10/09/2010 20:45

And as for the flip flops. Wtf?!!!

usualsuspect · 10/09/2010 20:45

Because common people wear them apparently

PrivetDancer · 10/09/2010 20:47

It's only the fakes that collapse sideways.

I never liked the standard ones but then I saw the Bailey button chocolate ones and bought some and absolutely adore wearing them.

BabyDubsEverywhere · 10/09/2010 20:48

I love my Uggs! well not actual uggs but simelar take on them.

Only cheap ones go to the side, and yes they do look awful. I was bought a pair of cheap ones which have been great as house shoes, wouldnt been seen dead in them outside though Blush

Mniemmniem · 10/09/2010 20:48

I'm not common, I have a degree and john lewis crockery >.

I ave the cardy knit ones so I don't have 'ugg hobble' :)

they look like slippers. they're ugly. they're not very practical are they?

usualsuspect · 10/09/2010 20:49

One has to wear converse or fly boots on MN ..or they kick you out

Meglet · 10/09/2010 20:50

yanbu.

Since I have bought proper sheepskin boots I have never had wet or cold feet. I wear them all year now.

Itsjustafleshwound · 10/09/2010 20:51

They look comfy and are popular, but I refuse to pay £200 for a pair of long slippers .....

Mniemmniem · 10/09/2010 20:52

Maybe they should have Boden@ugg ugg boots!
Perhaps with pithy emroidery?them would fly off the shelveses

lol! funny thread.

i think in life there are trends in things that are hated.. uggs being one of the current.

i do think they are fugly tho.. they look scruffy and often dirty. fugly fugly shoes!

BelligerentGhoul · 10/09/2010 20:53

Oh dear. I don't wear Converse or Fly Boots or Uggs.

Do I need to join the line up to be shot at dawn now?

taintedpaint · 10/09/2010 20:54

They are very ugly, but I personally wouldn't wear them because they are sheepskin and that goes against where I stand morally.

fuschiagroan · 10/09/2010 20:54

They are bad for your feet - there is no arch support and they don't hold your feet in place so your feet slide around.

Alouiseg · 10/09/2010 20:57

They are the absolute dogs nogs of footwear, they keep your feet warm and dry and according to dh they look unfeasibly sexy with a short dressing gown #easily pleased.

Mniemmniem · 10/09/2010 20:59

They are ugly I'll give you that, buuuut the cardy ones don't let your feet slide about.

The most comfy things are alwyays the most ugly :(

I have grey knitted Uggs. They are comfy and warm, cut them some slack.

Oh, except the pink Katie Price ones

And the children's ones

Oh and any ones that have collapsed sideways

Or any which are worn with by bored looking teenagers with overly straightened hair

Or any worn by men (wrong wrong wrong)

Or the leopard print short ones

Or the clog ones

But my grey ones are nice.

Chathappy · 10/09/2010 21:01

But they are soooo comfortable though!

The real ones don't sag and as long as you keep them clean I don't think they look scruffy.

When I'm running round after my dcs in the winter they are the only footwear that will do!

FakePlasticTrees · 10/09/2010 21:02

They look ugly. They make any outfit look scruffy.

That is all.

UnePrune · 10/09/2010 21:02

It's not specifically MN that hates them!
The thing is they're ugly. There doesn't have to be any more than that. I don't see them being only worn by 'common' people (whatever that means but I can guess). But when they're worn, they look bad. Fine if you don't mind (and I mean that!).

Years ago I had an Australian friend who wore them round the house and offered to bring me a pair back because they were the best slippers. This is what they are! Anything else is marketing.

AmazingBouncingFerret · 10/09/2010 21:04

I have the knitted ones and they are my best friend, excellent for just shoving on my feet to do the school run.
Cant drive in them for shit though...

Where I come from they are slippers. Not footwear!

weepootle · 10/09/2010 21:09

All the haters just don't know the difference between the fakes and the real ones. I will shortly be living in mine- I have classic longs and classic shorts, they are amazing.
