I got a pair from my mum last Christmas and I'm a ugg worshipper now, they're so ruddy comfy I could sleep in them!
I just don't get why they are hated on MN?!

My dd's teacher is from nz and she wears them, so it can't be a universal antipodean view that they are slippers.

Doesn't matter that it's not radical, they are still slightly left of centre which is enough to earn them the alternative badge, I'm afraid. They don't conform to what those in the centre perceive as the norm. They conform to their own "norm", same as any sub-genre of any lifestyle, but it's not the "norm" that the masses conform to IYSWIM?
