to be disappointed in some posters' nicknames?

There seems to be many nicknames in the style of:

samntomsmumma

mamato2girlies

masonsmummy.

Are people really happy to define themselves like this?

Where is their strong, independent self-image?

There are so many witty, clever or unfathomable names on here - couldn't these posters have taken the lead from them and picked something less needy?

I know this is a parenting website, but I was drawn into here by an image of strong, independent, intelligent posters and I really feel some are letting the side down. It's not some HunnyForum you know.

well actually the time I flounced when I lost my proper Toccata name wasn't really a flounce - was in a pretty bad place mentally....

but I'm fine now Smile

Morloth · 20/08/2010 20:55

We haven't had a good flounce for ages.

alexpolismum · 20/08/2010 20:55

well said, AnnieBeansMum

Fizzywinelover · 20/08/2010 20:56

I flounced also. Cannot recall exactly why, but one of the reasons was over the attack against SirBoobAlot when she had a bad bf in public experience. Then I could not keep away.

NiceShoes · 20/08/2010 20:56

All names should pay homage to shoes KubaFan, JimmyChooMum, etc.You can not go far wrong with that approach.

AnnieBeansMum · 20/08/2010 20:57

Blush thank you...

AngelaRipponsNorks · 20/08/2010 20:57

Totally agree.

TheInvisibleManDidIt · 20/08/2010 20:58

Toc, I really liked your previous name.

Mine is based on [what was when I joined] a very common phrase of my sons.

Like Hassled though I don't really like it but it's become who I am on here so I'm not going to change it.

bronze · 20/08/2010 20:58

mines neither mumsy or intelligent and original

Like hassled though I just stick with it or I get confused

MrsChemist · 20/08/2010 20:59

KEAWYED - is it a local fable involving a cow's head and a fence?

cornsillkk · 20/08/2010 20:59

can't be arsed to read the thread but the op's name is shit.

TheInvisibleManDidIt · 20/08/2010 21:00

Oh I mean your name before your current one Toc, iyswim!

MerryMarigold · 20/08/2010 21:01

What's wrong with being 'hunny'?! Each to their own. I have some very lovely 'hunny' friends - the world would be boring if we were ALL so intelligent, witty and cynical...

I think we need a new term for people who look down on 'hunny bunnies'. People who look down on others by labelling them are usually ignorant.

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 20/08/2010 21:01

scottishmummy · 20/08/2010 21:02

ive had my name so long, cant be arsed changing it.but is only a name dont attribute any significance to it

DirtyMartini · 20/08/2010 21:03

Anyone who really has a "strong, independent self-image" prob has more important stuff to worry about than whether other MNers like their posting name.

Having said that ... I did love EleanorHandbasket as a nn v much when she was using it. And someone used to be called GruffaloSoldier, which also rocked.

teameric · 20/08/2010 21:03

My nickname is pretty obvious if you click on my profile and see the pic of my "DH" Grin

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 20/08/2010 21:03

noo Scottishmummy, it's because you are not strong or independent, and are just a "hunny", be honest Grin

scottishmummy · 20/08/2010 21:04

i liked the whole cunt names debacle.amazed some folk wanted name removed thought it lowered tone and all that

cornsillkk · 20/08/2010 21:05

RubyBuckleberry · 20/08/2010 21:05

CricketThicket Biscuit

DirtyMartini · 20/08/2010 21:05

Also, surely you are not saying people with hunny names are by definition stupid/weak/etc.? They are just huns.

AmazingBouncingFerret · 20/08/2010 21:06

Ok, somebody enlighten me. In just dont get EleanorHandBasket and I know im just going to kick myself if/when someone explains it to me...
