to be disappointed in some posters' nicknames?

There seems to be many nicknames in the style of:

samntomsmumma

mamato2girlies

masonsmummy.

Are people really happy to define themselves like this?

Where is their strong, independent self-image?

There are so many witty, clever or unfathomable names on here - couldn't these posters have taken the lead from them and picked something less needy?

I know this is a parenting website, but I was drawn into here by an image of strong, independent, intelligent posters and I really feel some are letting the side down. It's not some HunnyForum you know.

Morloth - I think bibbitybobbityhat flounced yesterday.

I don't care what any of you are called. Though I would quite like people who had flounced to be able to get their names back but with the number of times they'd resigned it in parenthesis. e.g. postergrumps [23] Wink

Why thank you NSF. :)

Perhaps we could also make a rule that if your [ ] number gets to three figures it is replaced by [stroppy] Grin

Goan then, explain, swallowed!

cupofcoffee · 21/08/2010 21:25

When I first joined MN the first few names I tried were already taken so I started to impatiently just throw in random words that popped into my head. Was certainly not something that defined me. Have changed names a few times over the years since then.

NormaStanleyFletcher · 21/08/2010 21:26

are you an old woman? Wink

Do you eat any amimal, then? Or the opp, are you a veggie.

dylsmum1998 · 21/08/2010 21:33

Hmm when I joined I couldn't think of anything else. At the time I did feel like "just" a mum I couldn't see beyond that. I am starting to be a person as well as I mum, but haven't got round to thinking of a name to change it too

YABVVVVVVVU being a mum is nothing to be ashamed of its all about being proud of being a mum and raising the future generation. Why do you see that being a mum is subsurviant, somthing to be hidden and to be ashamed of then Hmm. You know that you can be intelligent, clever, witty and be a mother you know, we are not all brain dead drones being taken over by our children, though I am at the moment by my dd 3.5 sleeping habits. Being a mum is something to celebrate and be proud of and if people want to use that as their nicknames so be it, none of your business.
