to be disappointed in some posters' nicknames?

There seems to be many nicknames in the style of:

samntomsmumma

mamato2girlies

masonsmummy.

Are people really happy to define themselves like this?

Where is their strong, independent self-image?

There are so many witty, clever or unfathomable names on here - couldn't these posters have taken the lead from them and picked something less needy?

I know this is a parenting website, but I was drawn into here by an image of strong, independent, intelligent posters and I really feel some are letting the side down. It's not some HunnyForum you know.

I was exceedingly hassled when I first posted - life is a lot easier these days. But going from that first post, I should really be GoingInsaneWithThe OutrageousBehaviourOfTeenageDD. Now she's 21 and really very sane and reasonable :o.

StealthPolarBear · 20/08/2010 21:15

yeah, course I do, like to know who I'm talking to.
I started a thread about how you (or maybe tortoise) was my favourite MNer the other day - didn't you see it?? Wink :o

AmazingBouncingFerret · 20/08/2010 21:15

The amount of times I actually said it outloud aswell.. it just didnt click.

Right, where's that intelligence thread gone?

MummyBerryJuice · 20/08/2010 21:15

YABU - my name (had others previously) was chosen while i was having trouble bf. I like it and it has stuck. I don't think my name (rl or MN) defines me though.

AmazingBouncingFerret · 20/08/2010 21:16

Yes it is BelligerentGhoul, I namedchange for the harry potter release and never went back! Grin

TooBlessedToBeStressed · 20/08/2010 21:16

BelligerentGhoul · 20/08/2010 21:17

So looking foward to the film - shall we have HP names for that, do you think? :)

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 20/08/2010 21:17

Bootymum..I admit I did think your name meant you had a big booty (as the finest mums do)

Ifuckinghatecricket · 20/08/2010 21:17

Here is my new - stronger user name.

No offence OP, just how I feel now Wink

SecretNutellaFix · 20/08/2010 21:17

Never mind ABFGrin

AmazingBouncingFerret · 20/08/2010 21:18

erm.. namechanged. I havent even got alcohol as an excuse tonight...

MaMoTTaT · 20/08/2010 21:18

right try again - missed a sodding letter out of the one I chose.

SecretNutellaFix · 20/08/2010 21:20

I changed very recently to this one from differentID. Felt it was too pedestrian.

Firawla · 20/08/2010 21:22

i think those kind of names are nice, they are proud of their kids and mentioned them in their user name, what's the big deal really??
i would have put mine on but the names are too uncommon so would have been too blatant as to my identity so i picked something random.
there's a lot worse things in life to worry about than this! yabu

AmazingBouncingFerret · 20/08/2010 21:23

Ahh I love it when I find out a name changer, makes me feel in the loop.

Boys2mam · 20/08/2010 21:23

I love my name.

I even got a shout out once in a thread from Shiney cos she loved it - though you don't see her about these days Confused

ChickensHaveNoEyebrows · 20/08/2010 21:24

My name does define me. I am inordinately concerned about the lack of poultry eyebrows. It removes expression. They could be thinking anything.....

SecretNutellaFix · 20/08/2010 21:24

ABF- I think I can remember your previous name. Grin

I am not a stalker, honest.

MaMoTTaT · 20/08/2010 21:25

oh SNF - that's who you are! I had vaguely wondered where Diff had gone Blush

RustyBear · 20/08/2010 21:26

Well, the only time I got compliments on my name was when I was AttilaTheMum, so obviously not everyone dislikes 'mum' names.

Tiredmumno1 · 20/08/2010 21:26

Oh crap,

does that mean i need slaps on the wrist Grin

i have had my name since i started

Grin
StealthPolarBear · 20/08/2010 21:27

me too - I hate not knowing who people are

SecretNutellaFix · 20/08/2010 21:27

Grin Sorry MaMo.

mamamiafigaro · 20/08/2010 21:34

I have a mum name BUT its only bacause i couldnt think of one and my DC1 started calling me mama mia about a month ago, and i would sing (in a fake opera style voice) Oh mama mia, mama mia, mama mia figaroooooooo and it made him laugh! hence the name.

i like it.

sunfunandmum · 20/08/2010 21:36

I look at the mn names scottishmummy.

Memorable names help you remember people although some posters have such a unique posting style it wouldn't matter what they were called you would know it was them.
