For the last 6 weeks DS1 has had a mohican (sp) yesterday my bil thinned the sides out as ds1's hair is very thick and curly.

Now I have not seen his hair today as he stayed with my mum last night, but at 8.30 the school phoned to say he was on his way home for having an inappropriate hair cut which they feel will affect his learning ????????

How the hell can a haircut affect learning ffs

ah found it I think - seems the saga continues but TLES has chosen not to ask for opinions here - fair enough I guess, given how discussion below went and it seems as if she has more unquestioning board there.

lizs my only point today was that I do agree with him not being in the sports day but they should have said so before and not on the day.
It was me who mentioned sports day on this thread, the school only mentioned it in saying he needed his full p.e kit.
So i sent him in as they had said in p.e kit for him to be sent home.

All I was saying is they should have told him or I yesterday when I was on the phone or while he was in school.

Not that I disagree with him not being involved with it because i agree 100% he won't comply to the rules he misses out. But there should have been warning for him and not different teachers saying different things.

Agree they should be consistent in whether his hair is now acceptable enough to be in school or not. Assume nothing had changed since they saw him yeaterday ?

No nothing has changed. and that is what my point was.
