Thread 4 for support, tips, tricks and friendship as we reduce our alcohol intake even more. For anyone who wants to reduce, stop, moderate or even just track their drinking.

Absolutely no judgement, just support. Everyone welcome.

Previous threads somewhere but am rubbish at clicky links.

Old tryers and new dryers, welcome to our thread. The one that starts in February and will see us all hit our goals as we move forwards.

Frouby....are you doing this alone or with anyone?? Would you mind if I join you??
I usually do SW. And always loose. However like you say..currently I’m skipping breakfast, having a bagel for brunch, skipping lunch then pick at the kids tea at 5. Then she and I eat about now!! It’s stupid. When I’m on SW, I have porridge and blueberries for breakfast, stir fry or salad for lunch, then a healthy low fat dinner. Cut back on wine, and swap to gin.
I need motivation and to do this shit with someone. Fancy it??

NC4Now · 20/02/2019 20:56

I interviewed a woman today who lost 4st in 2018 and has started a running club for mums and their kids. She was so enthusiastic and her pics look so great that I might have accidentally agreed to go along on Friday. 🤦‍♀️

Flossie44 · 20/02/2019 21:32

Omg NC4 I’d love that!!!!!! Wish I lived closer!!

NC4Now · 20/02/2019 22:00

Maybe you could start one Flossie. This woman just put a post on Facebook and a few of her mates turned up with their kids. The next week friends of friends went, so there were about 20 of them, then this week we’ve done a local news piece which will get a fair few more.
She says everyone goes their own pace - some walk most of the way, and they just go round the dock in our city. One lap is 2.5k - some do one, some do two - and she sort of runs between them encouraging them along.
I’m thinking of taking DS2 because he isn’t very active.

Dionysa · 20/02/2019 22:02

NC4, that is very funny. Not so funny about your Wankerbastard, though. You wonder what, if anything, goes on in their weird minds. How can you not mark your own child's birthday?

Can finally go to bed, thank God. Have got through Day One again. Not in the slightest bit tempted to drink, thanks to hangover and about two hours of sleep last night.

I dare say tomorrow will be a different story, though.

longestlurkerever · 20/02/2019 22:10

Sorry about the wankerbastards. One of my coming of age moments was my aunt and uncle, who I adored, splitting up because my uncle had an affair. His kids were obviously hurt and angry and he just let them walk out of his life. And he had done it before with another child when he was young. He was a wankerbastard and I never knew. There are a lot of them around.

There's a family park run near me every Sunday. It clashes with drop in athletics though which is more or less the same thing but grown ups just sit on the bleachers and watch, which is possibly more my scene, and is nearer.

Just finished off mini holiday celebratory wine. DH is talking about opening another.

longestlurkerever · 20/02/2019 22:14

He came back with tea. I have sent him back to get the nanny state.

NC4Now · 20/02/2019 22:24

Ah, sorry - to be clear exH isn’t DS dad, but he was his stepdad from the age of 3.
Actually he didn’t hear from his actual dad either but that’s par for the course. He did see him the day before and got him a present he really wanted.
I never understand him not calling on their birthdays and Christmas, but he always marks them on the closest weekend, so they get two.

NC4Now · 20/02/2019 22:25

Day one twins Dion. We going for a day 2?

Flossie44 · 20/02/2019 22:53

Total moderation here. One third of bottle of wine then made a cuppa. Smile

Frouby · 21/02/2019 07:39

Flossie am definetly up for being diet twins. I just can't do it alone. I would go to sw for the weigh in but I can't stand the local consultant, never stay for the meeting and its daft paying a fiver a week for someone to weigh me.

Do you want to weigh in mondays? I need to tell someone what I weigh each week, and what I have lost. Do you want to do it by pm or on here? Or we could start a new little thread for drinking and shrinking?

Just trying to rouse myself a bit. Off to the rspb nature reserve at 10am with the dcs and a school run mum friend. Fml.

Flossie44 · 21/02/2019 11:32

I’m
Happy to weigh in on Mondays. I’ll Pm you my weight but other chat can be here. Or a new thread. Easy either way.
I can never do it without going to group, but like you I spend a fiver for an old bag to look down her nose at me. And I never stay for group after weigh in either!!
I know the jist of SW. Only prob is I have 3 bdays this next fortnight, including my own, and a weekend away on the wine!! Might not be a great start but hey...I’ve still got the week days Confused

Flossie44 · 21/02/2019 11:37

Frouby...does this mean we can have an absolute blow out few days of drinking and eating before Monday arrives?!?! GrinGrin

Frouby · 21/02/2019 14:33

flossie go for it Grin. I will be, have prewarned dd and dh we are going to be ultrahealthy from Monday. They both looked slightly sceptical cheeky fuckers.

Just been to the local RSPB nature reserve, it's amazing! Lived here 4 years and it's the first time we have been up. Made us members as its a fiver a month, and can get 2 adults and 5 kids in each time I go. Its about a 10 minute walk, has a fab park/timber trail, a nice cafe and loads of trails and hides. And they do activities all year around as well. Came home with a huge welcome pack, all the kids got to chose a free gift and the boys got an explorers rucksack to walk round with, with binoculars and bug pots and all sorts in it. We were there 5 hours and now I am bloody knackered.

Ds and his mate loved it, 5 year old boys love bugs and spiders and birdwatching and stuff, even dd looked slightly enthusiastic and is planning on breaking her walking boots in on it.

Still got to walk the dog and feed the chickens though and am fooked. Both dcs disappeared upstairs as soon as we came in, think they are knackered too.

NC4, families... XH's family (he has other DC) would be a whole support thread in itself...

Very, very pissed off today, and have been fighting the temptation to open a bottle of wine since 12.30 this lunchtime. No particular reason - just life. DP let me down. XH is blaming DD for the fact that he is a wankerbastard. Have had a plumber's bill. All I need now is a letter from HMRC, and my day will be complete.

Frouby, nature reserve sounds fab. Mine would have loved that when they were younger...

NC4Now · 21/02/2019 16:09

Frouby and Flossie Monday is my WW day too.
Dion are we doing day 2? I’m fighting the urge but I need to win!

Dionysa · 21/02/2019 17:57

NC4, I would have said yes five minutes ago, but am currently enjoying a glass of sherry. I have managed to wait all afternoon, which feels like a win today. Confused

Flossie44 · 21/02/2019 18:13

Ooooo sherry. Now there’s a good ‘un!! My Nan, who’s 97 swears by a sherry every evening!! Got to be something in it...

NC4Now · 21/02/2019 19:11

I’m not a fan of sherry, but port..... yummm.

My finger is hovering over the fuck it button. I’m finished work for the week, I’m horribly skint, but I’m finally on half term.

Flossie44 · 21/02/2019 20:19

Enforced dry night tonight. Sat in hosp with dd. Fml

Frouby · 21/02/2019 20:20

Mmmmm sherry.

Way back when (about 22 years ago) I used to.work for RBS bank. They used to put sherry and mince pies out in the banking hall for customers from mid December onwards. Every night there were loads of sherry left. As I didn't drive I used to do my bit and help clean up.

Regularly got on bus numb from the jaw down 😂😂

‘Numb from the jaw down’ Grin

Flossie44 · 21/02/2019 20:27

I used to say my lips had gone numb. Always did.
Once I went to a really posh dinner party with commanders in the navy. I sat at the dinner table and announced I had ‘lumb nips’!! I was ordered a cab immediately Confused

Dionysa · 21/02/2019 21:04

Oh Flossie. Flowers Flowers xxx

Frouby · 21/02/2019 21:06
