i do not recall saying women should be waxed up to the eyeballs.

I do recall saying that i sort out my own spiders.

I do recall saying that nurses do laugh. Sorry but that is the truth. Having been a nurse for 27 years i have worked in many a hospital or nursing home where from the consultant to the care assistants have had a quiet snigger about various patients. This is not infront of the patient of course, but we have all been there in the staff room messing about and things have come into conversation. I really don't mind saying so either as it is true.

I would like to know what the comment 'not the highest earner on MN' has to do with it? Are you saying nurses are stupid? That they do not deserve to earn any more?

As a nurse, most would agree that it is a very demanding and stressful job and we all lighten the mood from time to time.
That is all.

kerry, think about it

shop assistants snigger at customers, lawyers etc snigger at clients, hospital staff (occasionally) employ a bit of dark humour to release some stress

tis the nature of humanity........

thanks anyfucker, it is so true. Even funeral directors have to lighten the mood sometimes.

Spidermama · 19/01/2009 19:41

I've only read the first few posts but I'm totally with edam and soph. This is completely normal. My fadge looks pretty similar and I wouldn't have it any other way. You gardeners can keep your nasty, weirdy stubble. I am what I am etc.

Monkeytrousers · 19/01/2009 19:46

I think most of the people on here protesteh rather too much.

Let her who is without mighty boosh cast the first stone

I know what you mean kerry, but even nurses/doctors are human

if its any consolation, it is not done in a nasty way, because that would not be tolerated by peers, more in a general way

so please don't think every nurse is secretly laughing behind your back at you, tbh it is the more extreme stuff (eg. pierced clits, really dirty people etc) that gets noticed, most nurses are too busy to notice common-or-garden muffs

bollockbrain, I had forgotten about funeral directors

Monkeytrousers · 19/01/2009 19:58

oh dear, how many women just lost confidence in the NHS...

AnyFucker · 19/01/2009 20:00

don't be silly mt

reasonable people know everybody is human

Monkeytrousers · 19/01/2009 20:01

Thanks for the reassurance AF. I certaily couldn;t be arsed when pregnant, and that's about the only time I've gotten my fanny out for perfect strangers.

It would be nice to have a little secret MN campaign - everytime a nurse see someone snigger at a defenseless woman on a trolley, you tell that to stop being so pathetic

Monkeytrousers · 19/01/2009 20:02

Umn - that was me being silly AF. I thought it was quite pithy.

AnyFucker · 19/01/2009 20:06

oh sorry, no offence

policywonk · 19/01/2009 20:06

Sniggering at vulnerable people (which, for those of you who aren't sure, definitely includes people in hostpital) isn't a universal human trait.

daftpunk · 19/01/2009 20:09

will you lot go & check out some hot men or something...i'm sick of seeing this coming up in active convos..

Spidermama · 19/01/2009 20:19

Very democratic daftpunk.

elsiepiddock · 19/01/2009 20:30

Just to play devil's advocate and to bring this back to the puerile....
