phillip Schofield was a patronising Tw@T on that interview and should be severely admonished

for his revolting belittling tone

Kerry is a grown woman regardless of her 'failings' and by rights should be spoken to as such

i keep watching this part of the clip

patronising toss scroll through to 7.06 for full on patronising by Phillip

god she is sooooo anoying!!! She doesnt talk propperly!

spookycharlotte121 · 24/10/2008 01:19

Wow, just finished watching that and I had to cringe.... they put her on the spot.... she was obviously on something... god knows drugs or booze. she is a mess and should not have been on there. I have an even worse opinion of her now than I did previously!

I think fair play to them for bringing it up.... like he said it was what everyone was thinking!

Is this a record number of threads about the same subject in the shortest time?

She was def on something, but I think it was a bit bullying of them to put her on the spot.

LovelyDear · 24/10/2008 01:53

i have just watched it. I hate to swim against the tide but I thought that what she actually said was pretty well reasoned, it was just that she sounded incoherent. Which makes me completely believe what she was saying. I think she felt pretty pissed off and when i'm angry/upset like that i find it hard to express myself clearly.

FlameThrowersKillZombies · 24/10/2008 07:47

What was he meant to do? He couldn't just ignore it

BabyBaby123 · 24/10/2008 10:17

i don't think they could have handled it any better tbh - the woman is disgusting. She is a druggy/alcholic (whatever) and she just flaunts it. She needs to go away and get some help for the sake of her kids - getting rid of that tosser she's married to would be a start. When she said her baby cries a lot - no wonder love when you were using drugs all through your pregnancy!! And her 7 year old does more than she does??? If she was anyone else those kids would have been removed or social services would at least be involved - I don't think she should be given publicity.

MadameCastafiore · 24/10/2008 10:22

I LOVE PHIL & FERN, HOW VERY DARE YOU!!!!

JoolsToo · 24/10/2008 10:25

I thought both sides handled it well.

She may have been on something but apart from the slurred speech she was making sense, understood what was being said to her and responded accordingly.

She acted with more decorum than Heather Mills

I'm not a fan btw.

Peachy · 24/10/2008 10:26

Have you ever dealt with someone on the brink of a crisis? I have- my dh has mental health problems- and the tone Philip adopted is the only one that gets through; constant reassurance that you care whilst not avoidng the facts.

It probably does seem a bit patronising from an utside viewpoint but ime (far too broad) it works.

filz · 24/10/2008 10:27

I think he handled it well.

He said on the radio yesterday she should never have been allowed on the tv, whether it was her medication or not (he basically msaid her husband hasnt got her best interests at heart)

hes right IMO

filz · 24/10/2008 10:29

she is on lithium aswell, its not paracetamol

Peachy · 24/10/2008 10:31

lithium can b gorrid I believe and would explain t. There's a mum at school on lithium who gets taken for a drunk a lot.

SaTanicGore · 24/10/2008 10:34

Is this Mumsnet or Kerrynet?

I'm seriously starting to wonder

idobelieveinghosts · 24/10/2008 10:36

I thought they handled it well too, KK's husband obviously thought she was ok to go on..so they had no choice but to question her.

And if it is pescription drugs that are causing the speech problem then at least they gave her the chance to explain...because if they hadn't people would automatically say cocaine/drugs..or whatever.

I have heard that kerrys husband 'squared' up to Phillip afterwards too, has anyone else heard that??

filz · 24/10/2008 10:37

hes a twat

mankymummy · 24/10/2008 10:40

I think one question asking if she is ok and asking the reason for her slurring would be ok, but they went on and on about it.

If they were genuinely concerned about her they wouldnt have grilled her like that.

I think she handled herself really well, if you read a transcript back and ignored the slurring she was very upbeat and coherent.

I think Fern was embarrassed as she changed the line of questioning.

LaTricoteuse · 24/10/2008 10:41

Is her twat husband her manager now? In which case of course he wanted her on there, bad publicity is the only publicity she's going to get these days, the worse it is the more money he makes.

As for 'squaring up' tp Philip, it wouldn't surprise me, he is indeed an ubertwat. (Husband that is, not Philip - I thought he handled it well. He used to have the same management, so presumably knows the real story).

CharleeInChains · 24/10/2008 10:41

Now i am a Phil and Fern fan (try saying that quickly!) and i have never really felt one way or another about KerryK, but i will say one last time, ehem - If Kerry is on Lithium for her Bipolar it is so common to have slurred speace and general incoherent behaviour, it is a symptom of BiPolar without the bloody medicine but with Lithium on top it gets worse tenfold. I have/am Bipolar and i slur and wobble alot luckily no one has ever been so unkind to commen on me and say i am a drunk.

They have taken the vidoe off the link now so mot sure about the patronising.

MrsMattie · 24/10/2008 10:41

They shouldnt have been so apologetic. She was off her trolley.

LaTricoteuse · 24/10/2008 10:43

I think phil was trying to get across what he thinks about Mark's influence over her - all that stuff about how much she's changed.

omeNofthefleshes · 24/10/2008 10:44

I think both sides handled it well in the circumstances. I know people who take lithium and can vary from very slurred speech, eyes rolling etc to appearing completely normal as will also depend on what MH state they are in which can be manic or depressive. It is accusation like oh she is out of it on booze or drugs that makes MH more and more of a taboo..particularly severe long term and eduring conditions.
