What's you best, really tenuous link to a sleb?

I am in awe of all these people who have met loads of celebrities and have interesting stories to post about.

It got me thinking.......the closest I have ever got was when I was young Tilda Swinton's mum & dad used to let me ride on their estate and one day I patted Tilda's old pony.

And that's it!!

Anyone else got equally tenous sleb stories (and yes I am very bored....)?

I once asked John Simpson if he wanted salad.
I met Bernard Cribbins son once (looks EXACTLY the same as him).
I nearly got off with one of Menswear.
Colin Charvis (enormous Welsh rugby bloke) walked through my office a few weeks ago.

My great uncle was the grandfather of the bass player from 70's group Mud.

LOL @ Pruners ... was just wondering why Alan Rickman was phoning you looking for his Mother In Law

ADragonIs4LifeNotJustHalloween · 14/10/2008 12:40

Ooooh, when I was a baby, I was bathed by the footballer Alan Mullery & his wife.

I also know the most famous sports star Malaysia has ever produced.

Am cracking myself up here

igivein · 14/10/2008 12:46

My brother's godmother's mother lived next door to James Mason's mother. It doesn't get much more tenuous than that!

ADragonIs4LifeNotJustHalloween · 14/10/2008 12:47

What was the name of that CBBC presenter who worked with Edd the Duck? Not Andi Peters, the blond one. Anyway, I sat next to him at a wedding once.

YeahBut · 14/10/2008 12:50

I once walked out of a coffee shop on Picadilly right bang into Trevor MacDonald.

prettybird · 14/10/2008 12:54

Marti Pellow was quoted as saying that my mum had been his favourite teacher in some teen magazine Q&A! ... although he did mis-remember/mis-pronounce our foreign surname.

I saw George Best in a pub. Twice.

DonDons · 14/10/2008 12:58

Alan Minter (1970s boxer) used to go to our local pub (when we lived in the UK that is). He is a prime tosser and the last I heard he was barred for life.

DonDons · 14/10/2008 13:00

that time I saw Grotbags in the pub I also saw Matthew Kelly. They had to sit at our table becasue the pub is small. He was bald as a coot and offered me a tuna sandwich. I accepted.

I hardly ever have any brush with any proper slebs but I am amazing myself at the amount of tenuous connections I have.

DH's sister made a jumper for Ashton Kutcher last year

DH went to school with Andre Previn's son

ghosty · 14/10/2008 13:06

DH's godfather was one Tom Chatto. His son is married to Lady Sarah Armstrong Jones. We have never had any connection with them and DH can not ever remember meeting Tom Chatto (who was an Actoooor, played some obscure part in the 1969 film The Battle of Britain) although he must have done, at his christening, I suppose.

Flamesparrow · 14/10/2008 13:07

Oh I've partied with Tim Curry, Simon Pegg and Hank Azaria (amongst others)

mummyplonk · 14/10/2008 13:08

My brother has just added Sopie Ellis Bexter as a friend on facebook & Gethen Jones? (Blue Peter issit?)

prettybird · 14/10/2008 13:10

My great (repeat a number of times) grandfather was the first oever postman in SOuth Africa (dad's side of the family)

I am supposedly descended from (the wrong side of the blanket) Henry VIII (mum's side)

I bumped into Busted when at a meeting in BBC Centre - but didn't realsie I'd done it until told later by a colleague who was with me as I didn't know who they were.

An ex-boyfirned met Kate Bush as a party at EMI at the start of her career and said she looked very different without her heavy eye make-up

londontipton · 14/10/2008 13:25

Sue Lawley's (newsreader) son Tom was my first boyfriend.

We were both 3.

SongbirdScreamsInTheDeadOfNite · 14/10/2008 13:31

Oh, this is so great!

My ex-SIL's mother's cousin was the president of Brazil before the current one.

My mum went out with one of The Hollies.

Keith Moon once stepped on my mum's foot!

My brother used to be bezzies with Kate Winslet's first husband - when they were 12!

Robert Webb (Mitchell & Webb)'s dad used to be our coal man, and taught me how to play poker when I was off school with a tummy bug.

My parents are quite good friends with Katrina (sp?) off of Katrina and the Waves.

My cousin's dh was once kidnapped coz he's so minted (but he's not famous!). Oh, but he recently bought out Aston Martin!!

A good friend served Lionel Blair in a pub 'ooh, liver and bacon, that's mine'

This is a good one - my dad's best friend used to work with a guy who had a Ferarri Daytona, the vroom of which was used by Chris Rea in a song called ... Daytona

Jimmy Corkhill cut the Easyjet queue on the way to Belfast once.

SongbirdScreamsInTheDeadOfNite · 14/10/2008 13:34

BF went to drama school with Simon Williams's daughter, and a guy who was in Jerry Springer, The Musical. Same BF was also in an Iceland advert years ago with Tony from Hollyoaks.
