I am in awe of all these people who have met loads of celebrities and have interesting stories to post about.

It got me thinking.......the closest I have ever got was when I was young Tilda Swinton's mum & dad used to let me ride on their estate and one day I patted Tilda's old pony.

And that's it!!

Anyone else got equally tenous sleb stories (and yes I am very bored....)?

Oh, and I've met Holy Mary from Phoenix Nights, a friend used to work at her theatre company. Frickin hilarious and gorgeous and glam in real life.

SongbirdScreamsInTheDeadOfNite · 14/10/2008 13:36

Where's everyone gone? Scared off by my amazing claims to fame?

superloopy · 14/10/2008 13:39

Ghosty you are so funny!!

I went to a Newton Faulkner concert with Ghosty and the guy who plays Kel in Kath and Kim was in our seats - we had him moved by security!! He was pissed at us too!!

Oh yeah and we went backstage afterwards and hung with NF too!!

*I am getting as much airplay out of this story as I can!

DonDons · 14/10/2008 13:39

This is by far the best one so far from SongbirdScreamsInTheDeadOfNite;

This is a good one - my dad's best friend used to work with a guy who had a Ferarri Daytona, the vroom of which was used by Chris Rea in a song called ... Daytona

slug · 14/10/2008 14:14

ImnotMamaGbutsheLovesMe · 14/10/2008 14:19

tonysoprano · 14/10/2008 14:22

Just saw the woman from Cold Feet, Jenny who was married to John Thompson and is also in the Lottery ads in Soho....

SixSpotBonfire · 14/10/2008 16:05

Oh, that reminds me, one of the other women in Cold Feet, the one who gets killed in a car crash at the end (can't remember her name) - anyway, the actress who played her used to have a child at the same nursery and she and I once sat at a table breast-feeding our second babies together.

SixSpotBonfire · 14/10/2008 16:13

jura, that is unbeatable I think

fumf · 14/10/2008 19:03

ah, except for - I shared lodgings with Anna Karen (olive from On the Buses) AND Melvin Hayes (from It Ain't Half Hot Mum. They were in Panto locally.

They bought me wine and M&S ready meals so I am devoted to them until my dying day as I was impoverished student.

My grandad was quite good friends with Paul McCartney's uncle. Everyone I know's granny had their milk delivered by Sean Connery (doubtful, though, this one). My DH has, however, met Sean's brother down the pub.

wonka · 14/10/2008 19:34

My Granny is Daniel O' Donnell's mothers cousin.. shamefull and tenuous! lol.. i DID serve Julia roberts and peirce Brosnan in a shop.. though not at the same time!

CorpseBrideOfJohnCusack · 14/10/2008 19:51

i was at college with Anthony Andrews' son

i was on a plane to Delhi with Robin Cook (RIP) but he was in the queue ahead of me and got upgraded to first class from business (where I was. favouritism or what

Winetimeisfinetime · 14/10/2008 20:25

My one of the older sisters of my best friend at school went out with Errol Brown from Hot Chocolate and did some backing vocals on one of his songs.

jujumaman · 14/10/2008 20:40

one of my best friends from school's sister was once on holiday with her boyfriend in the US

Joe Strummer was driving a van and asked them if they'd like a lift

youcantlabelme · 14/10/2008 21:04

This is as tenuous as they come....My son sat in the same seat of a cab that Robert de Niro had sat in only weeks previously!!

Also the driver of this cab was close friends with Billie Piper. My son who is obsessed with Dr Who thought this was absolutely fantastic, while i was like oh yeah whatever ...

PortofinoPumpkin · 14/10/2008 21:08

My DH went to school with Topper Headon - said he was a bit of a hippy in those days.

My SM used to go out with Ford Prefect from Hitch Hikers Guide to the Galaxy.

I've kissed Philip Schofield - no tongues!

A girl I was at Uni with played Jimmy Nail's girlfriend in Spender.

A mate of mines sister was the lead girl in The Lakes.

I've used the same toilet as Donny Osmond.

Another friend has had dinner at Michael Dell's (computers) and played poker with Bill Gates.

One of Black Lace lived across the road from my Nan.

I'm related through marriage to Vinnie Jones, and directly though distantly to Nancy Astor (waldorf Astoria) and Viscount Astor (of Profumo Scandal fame).

Me and DH got married at Chelsea Registry office along with Paul McCartney, Patsy Kensit, Dh Lawrence etc etc etc There's a book with everyone in....

Ooh and good one - my great aunt was one of the wives who came for Tiffin with Sid James in Carry On Up the Khyber!

MeAndMyMonkey · 14/10/2008 21:23

I once boarded a plane to Paris behind Jean Paul Gaultier and Patsy Kensit... she was having a hissy fit about her baggage allowance.
Umm, I have loads more equally tenous crap, like Peepshow lady hangs out in my local park, but just have to say I must have gone to same school as Mrs John Cusack, as my old English teacher (the lovely Miss S in those days!) got married to Reg Morley from Corrie, and I was also in the same class as Carol Chell's (of Playschool fame)daughter. Plus my mate from school went out with Dominic Cooper's older brother. And weirder still, Glenda Jackson dropped off a smelly old Afgahan coat in Blackheath Oxfam in the 70's and a friend's mum immediately rushed in to buy it!

I grew up in the same town as Euan McGregor. He is only a year older than me.

Ambi · 14/10/2008 21:32

My parents went to Alan Carrs parents house when he was a little boy running around in the garden.

My Mum (much younger, drunk at a party) passed Duncan Goodhew on the stairs and slapped him on the head
