Beware! Leeds is s***hole

I lived up north and down south and Leeds is a place where people:

  1. offers you poorer service than anywhere else at a higher premium, worst value for money
  2. are lacking of moral values and self respect and gives you the impression that they are b** raised
  3. don't contribute to safer society, simply hopeless

For those who enjoys "back-to-back" properties or Leeds, hope you enjoy the depreciating property price and this city's decaying future. Otherwise I'd hope you'd avoid this s*hole!

You clearly haven't seen Wolverhampton

Leeds is lovely by comparison

Having lived in both I can confirm you are correct.

"I've been undressed by kings and I've seen some things
That a woman ain't supposed to see
I've been to paradise
But I've never been to Leeds"

Brilliant but I’ve got an ear worm now….

The football fans have a poor reputation with other clubs.
Only been there once I think. Went to Harvey Nicks. £500 for a t shirt !

Thats so out of date re the football fans. My username is a Leeds United motto ( we have a few) but we are a good bunch really.

Bogstandardname · 12/10/2026 16:44

Can't be worse than Northampton - now that really is a shit hole.

We moved to Roundhay when I was 6. Posh or what?!Grin I'm feeling all nostalgic now - Oakwood clock,Roundhay Park,Soldiers' Field...

Sadly I've been exiled in the Midlands for many a year; an area I used to pour scorn on for being neither north nor south. That'll teach me!!

I grew up in Gledhow and Roundhay! The Fish Bar at Oakwood was a regular hang out, along with the tennis courts at the bottom of North Park Avenue

Not sure of the relevance of your reply but have you actually been to Harehills, are you sure you're not confusing it with Horsforth or Headingley?

There's a whole world of difference between Harehills and LS17, with every other area in Leeds somewhere in between. Harehills is scraping the bottom and LS17 right up there at the top. You can buy a four bed terrace in Harehills for £150k, that's the kind of area it is.

I'm not sure from your rude, patronising response that you've actually read even the post you're responding to properly. I think it's one of at least two but I can't remember what I posted and what I thought I might respond on this thread. You were politer to a troll than you were to my reasonable and well informed response.

OK, I have 4 siblings, 2 from my mum's second marriage, 2 from my dad's second marriage, which I didn't make clear. I didn't just live in some lovely place 15 miles out of Leeds - like the small town my mum moved to for the last 19 years of her life (were you in Ilkley too)? We were all born on the university campus, then I lived in Woodhouse, and when I was 10 and my brother was 2, we moved to Headingley for more space. My brother's wife is from Harehills, from a Jamaican-British family. So why would I mix up Headingley with Harehills?

Ilkley is nice, nearby Keighley less so. The Bronte Parsonage in Haworth, a village near Keighley, is represented by a Reform councillor.....

People are being priced out of my area of North London which has a lot in common with 21st century Harehills and Woodhouse. When I was buying they were moving to Hertfordshire and Essex. LOVELY places like Cheshunt and Broxbourne in Hertfordshire. Farage's girlfriend's £900,000 house in Clacton must be a lot bigger than a £900,000 here.

Motnight · 12/10/2026 16:56

What is with the threads being started specifically to criticise a certain town? Odd.

Op is never going to return to this thread. They probably have an atlas open looking at other cities to thoughtfully critique.

Well it isn’t. They are not considered a great bunch generally speaking. No.

Have you surveyed all the other fans then? We are certainly no worse than other teams.

Not only is Leeds lovely but the Leeds sisters on Gogglebox are my favourites!

Are they the two Asian ladies? I don't watch Gogglebox but from what I've caught of it in the past, they're brilliant and so funny.

I used to dream of living in North Park Avenue, preferably the bottom end near the tennis courts. Lovely big stone houses.

BIWI · 12/10/2026 19:21

Where did you go to school?

The two young Asian Women and also the two sisters that have dogs and sometimes kids, one of them often has bright coloured hair. All very funny.

It’s completely fine to use the word shit. See also: cunt, fuck, etc.
(I absolutely loathe the asterisking of words to avoid offence - so twee 🤢).

I lived in Roman Avenue. I liked Roundhay but it was interesting cycling to work at Jimmy's everyday through Harehills. I lived in Pudsey as well.

ALAW.

I live near Leeds and my son has spent a lot of time at LGI where he had his head turned when he met the players over Christmas. He's Leeds mad now.

Been to several Leeds games with my lad and never had any issues.

(Not a Leeds fan myself, the things you do for your kids 😂)

dustabsorber · 12/10/2026 19:58

I was thinking sinkhole

Cairneyes · 12/10/2026 20:03

If you think Leeds is a shithole, you should try Bradford!😫

Livpool · 12/10/2026 20:08

I have been with work and thought it was nice. I stopped a police officer for directions and he and his colleague offered to drive me there in their police van! One of the officers was female thankfully.

TallSturdyGirls · 12/10/2026 20:11

I love Leeds (apart from the football team when then tbh "we all hate Leeds" is the only chant I know!)

Now I know why Leeds fans are famous for not wearing shirts, they can't afford them.

LondonLass2026 · 12/10/2026 20:21

I lived in Yorkshire for a while and absolutely adored Leeds.

You clearly had a bad experience and have decided to judge the whole place by that.

You're rude and classless.
