Beware! Leeds is s***hole

I lived up north and down south and Leeds is a place where people:

  1. offers you poorer service than anywhere else at a higher premium, worst value for money
  2. are lacking of moral values and self respect and gives you the impression that they are b** raised
  3. don't contribute to safer society, simply hopeless

For those who enjoys "back-to-back" properties or Leeds, hope you enjoy the depreciating property price and this city's decaying future. Otherwise I'd hope you'd avoid this s*hole!

Wakey, Sheffield, York & Hull on their group chat ‘what’s b**raised?’
Harrogate mutes the chat.

If you want a shithole, try Bradford, sounds like you’d love it!

Happyjoe · 11/10/2026 23:26

Lol, my partner's first house was one of those back to backs. I lived in Kirkstall for nearly 2 years, very short walk from the lovely abbey. The burglary in Leeds is something else, I'll never forget our neighbour was burgled in daytime and the little shit who broke in even answered the door to the postman and took a parcel in! Brass neck. We had to have those grills on all the doors.

I hated the weather too. Rained every day until about 5pm all summer and it was -10oC in the winter sometimes, grim, I am a softy southerner at heart.. It was not at all my fav place to live in the UK, in fact I disliked it but oh man, 20 mins out and you were in the stunning Yorkshire countryside and that's a treasure. Had some amazing days exploring and enjoying the more well known places too. Leeds is saved by it's location.

Ohcrap082024 · 11/10/2026 23:30

@InterestGuardianwhere do you like?

purpleme12 · 11/10/2026 23:31

What on earth 😆

Littledidsheknow · 11/10/2026 23:32

I used to live in Leeds.
I thought it was quite nice.

havanesehope · 11/10/2026 23:33

Me and my mate had a lovely coffee in Leeds Corn Exchange today, amazing building, love it.

PlasticFiend · 11/10/2026 23:35

It was very nice by the docks when I was there - about 20 years ago!

PrettyLittleRose · 11/10/2026 23:44

Oh no, not ANOTHER thread bashing ANOTHER city.

Hmm

Mi Dad we’ born un raised i’ Chapel Allerton.
Mebbe b**raisedGrin.

I’d move there in a heartbeat!

My mum and dad were born and raised in Chapel Allerton. I almost was born there but got stuck, I'm told, and blue lighted to hospital, for shame.

People in Leeds usually say 'in' btw. We're not all northern caricatures Grin

Livelovebehappy · 12/10/2026 00:46

Is this a tit for tat post? On the back of yesterday’s ‘Birmingham is a shithole’ post? Do you live in Birmingham OP?

I second Bradford. City of culture my arse…..

Beekman · 12/10/2026 01:00

Stay down South then, sounds like it suits you.

BobTheTeckel · 12/10/2026 01:32

You're wrong. HTH.

elkiedee · 12/10/2026 01:35

I've lived in London for over 30 years, now more than half my life, but I still miss my home city and my university city 40 miles over the Pennines. A sister followed me to Manchester and now lives and works a few miles from the university. My cousin came to Leeds from London, his brother was at Manchester 10 years ahead of me, and their sister lived in Bradford briefly. My other cousin.

OP, I'm sure Leeds won't miss you.

I’m a St. James’ Hospital baby myself!
But by that time DDad had made it to Oakwood.
Another place I’d jump at the chance of living in.

keepswimming38 · 12/10/2026 06:57

I reckon they got dumped by their mates on the Otley run!

Yello24 · 12/10/2026 07:02

Well I’m not in Leeds and am down south so I’m feeling smug about my choices. Phew.

justasking111 · 12/10/2026 08:17

My DS works in Chapel Allerton nowadays. He says it's a great area, good shops etc. easy parking.

Tbf this is like saying London is awful because you lived in Tower Hamlets…

I grew up in Leeds. Moved away a long time ago. It was always a nice city. Some rough patches, like any city really, but some lovely areas too. A good place to grow up as a teenager.

My only complaint would be that I never felt I fit in. My family wasn't from there, just moved for work, and I never picked up the accent - always felt like I was treated as an outsider (largely just because of how I spoke) even after living there for years. A lot of inverse snobbery. Probably why I don't go back still, even though I have other fonder memories.

Oh the irony of you calling it inverse snobbery thus implying that a Leeds accent is low class and common.

DoYouSellBuckets · 12/10/2026 08:22

Oh FFS, these posts are getting ridiculous. I assume it's bots stirring up discontent. Of all the places I've lived in the UK (rural, cities and towns), Leeds is by far my favourite. The people are lovely, the city is beautiful and the cost of living is fantastic. I'd move back in a heart beat if I could.

I wasn't a 'local' there and was made to feel at home instantly

Igmum · 12/10/2026 08:22

SusanSHelit · 11/10/2026 21:34

What an odd thing to say.

I've lived in Liverpool for years but Leeds is great. I'd certainly rather live there than London or Manchester.

Oi!

Nothing wrong with Manchester Your Grace. Leeds is great too.

Bikenutz · 12/10/2026 08:22

What’s with the posts slagging off cities? Birmingham got it too.
