A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government. 💙☕️

We're gearing up for the Burnham budget. 😬

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

I would refer my non-learned non-friend to the post by our OP at 9.12 yesterday. If that is Labour doing 'rather well' I'm a kipper.

Debs is satirical 😉

Labour are doing rather well in the polls these days, certainly the people I speak to have been mightily impressed with Andy Burnham and his leadership since taking office. Would this thread title and the contents herein perhaps qualify as 'disinformation' methinks 🤔

Lovely to see you again Debbie, you always ha way of breaking the tension and making me smile, I salute your always perfect timing.

I think it depends on the payout talk with in normal life and the circles you mix in.

A poll out yesterday someone was talking about that is showing Andy's/Labour’s bounce too be less bouncy. Early days bit I predict he is in for some rougher times going forward. Over the Brexit/Russia he came across like he did a Trump type gaff. That isn't a good look and he has behaved like this before apparently. I see it a little like Zippy of the Greens they start to think people will believe them on anything because popular at the time. Then start to spout whatever they think people want to here and will sell an argument without having all the facys themselves.

@ImNotAsCooperativeAsYouMightWantAWomanToBe ignore Debbie, she’s doing satire.

which has its place, but not here. (Edit, I see some like it).

apologies all, I didn’t intend for my post to attract… well anything really.

can’t have a chat in peace on here atm.

We currently have a number of disruptors over on the FWR tribunal threads, so it feels very familiar.

Can't have the little women talking without us, eh fellas?

I just thought it was worth pointing out that Labour has addressed racism. Not your fault at all that things then took a bit of a turn over my choice of phrase. I didn't expect that!

Some threads have been mentioned or suggested in good faith on other threads. This was done because the threads themselves were getting hostile or derailed. Nice to suggest calmer and more peaceful threads where sensible discussion is valued more or people have similar views but unfortunately it does mean those that do spam or disrupt are going to see those suggestions.

Possibly better to private message a poster with suggestion if they feel someone would be best heard or emotionally more comfortable on a different thread.

It was an odd choice of words.

I abhor the balaclava vigilantes. I’ve said so on these threads. I would like any troublemakers on these stupid excursions to the south coast to be arrested and charged. (Equally those who cover their faces and cause trouble on any protest.)

But I do think the biggest problem we have right now with racism is antisemitism. And on that I’m afraid in recent years Labour did not, and still in some cases does not, have a good record. I’m very happy to apportion some blame to Labour for the appalling, murderous attacks on Jews and the climate of Jew hatred that’s broken out both before and after Hamas’s pogrom. Of course Labour’s not the only political party culprit - the Greens are even worse - but I do not think Labour or Labour supporters should be lecturing anyone on anti-racism.

It’s ‘funny’ that when anti-racism threads are started on MN it’s rarely if ever Jews who are victims that OPs say they’re concerned to protect.

Not even a full term. Half, if that.

Since achieving his apparent lifetime ambition to rise to the title of Prime Minister, I can think of nothing Burnham has said or done which would convince me he's up to the job.

Believe what you like BIWI. Its true.

How bizarre to post against this in pp below. Why does it matter to anyone else? I see more about it on mn too.

EasternStandard · Today 12:45

I don’t get the ‘I don’t believe you’ what’s up with that?

On this thread too.

I understand the balaclavas in that if you protest against your hometown being used to land illegals, house illegals if your face is seen you can spend three years or more in prison. Ditto if you query it on social media.

I truly don't believe that the law/justice is fair now. It's actually quite terrifying. I speak as someone who is part of an extended family with Welsh, Irish, Indian and Chinese heritage.

Believe me when I say my Indian and Chinese relatives think we're too tolerant of illegals.
