A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government. 💙☕️

We're gearing up for the Burnham budget. 😬

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

Thank you for new thread my darling

I miss the black labour in tbe pub picture already

The voters ID stuff is really missing me off today. We have seen them clamping down on voter fraud in America. The stories that have come out of there are shocking. Yes Andy Pandy wants to make us even more vulnerable to it here.

Checking in ,thanks for the new thread.
So rishi said they did loads of work with KC on either pushing urgent reform of ehcr or leaving but he said they had to drop it because it may seem like an I'll thought out gimmick.

Maybe if the ground work has been done kemi can use that and speed things up.
And yes from the end of the last thread I also hate the "spin" and obfustication but remmeber they are the wolf in sheeps clothing party.

@QuiteUnbelievable ”So rishi said they did loads of work with KC”

Who is KC, please?

I also don’t know who anyone is when they name change 😂

Thank you @Nuthatch26 for the new thread

QuiteUnbelievable · 11/10/2026 20:51

I assume kc means kings counsel.

Sorry!

Looks like the budget has a big old hole again £35bn being floated this time. IFS

Dinnerontheterrace · 12/10/2026 08:19

I read the same in the Times.

Nuthatch26 · 12/10/2026 08:23

Another budget, another enormous black hole in the finances. How have they managed that with record tax receipts and high inflation?

A. Cut spending and shrink the state.
B. Raise even more taxes.

I wonder which option Burnham will choose? Rhetorical question obv.
IFS say a "steady as she goes budget" is not an option for Healey.

What, what? Is this a line put out by Labour? Or is it an IFS analysis alone?

I thought ‘the foundations have been fixed’?

This damaging rumour that Labour are useless and dishonest must be a trick played by the fascist Badenoch, or possibly by the shadowy forces of Zionism.

Labour are like those lottery winners who end up broke again after winning millions on the lottery.
No matter how much money they receive, they'll overspend, winding up destitute.

It seems to be IFS alone but I can’t say for sure if Labour have nudged it so we’re braced.

EasternStandard · 12/10/2026 08:40

Haven’t rather. Either way it’s all very depressing.

DancingFerret · 12/10/2026 08:54

Thanks for the new thread, @Nuthatch26. The cartoon is spot on.

I'm not sure Kemi has done herself any favours by talking about witnessing lynchings during her Nigerian upbringing. DM commentators tend to be quite positive about her, but not so much this time.

Did that article suggest Healey might go early in the new year? He's shaping up to be almost as useless as his predecessor. Meanwhile, Burnham is up to his neck after clearly being caught off guard by the Manchester City story breaking when it did. He was most definitely not prepared for that.

Something very odd is going on with the comments section of the daily mail. After being predictable for many a year. The change in tone, opinion is jarring. I've been confused for a while. But now think it's orchestrated, so no longer a reliable indicator.

Telegraph view

https://www.telegraph.co.uk/gift/cfa2dd9fad94b030

"The Institute for Fiscal Studies (IFS) said the Chancellor faces the bill to maintain existing spending policies and to boost defence funding.
Without cuts to benefits, he will be forced to launch a tax raid on Britain’s struggling households and businesses, it warned.
It comes after the Prime Minister ruled out cutting the ballooning benefits bill to fund defence spending, telling the Commons last month that supporting national security “can’t come at the expense of social security”.
Helen Miller, the director of the IFS, said that if Andy Burnham wants to avoid cuts to public services and benefits over the next five years, his Government will have to raise taxes.
She said: “If you are looking at 10s of billions of increase in spending, you should be thinking of 10s of billions of increase in taxes.”"
