A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government. 💙☕️

We're gearing up for the Burnham budget. 😬

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

So after Burnham shot from the hip (again) telling TRIP that Russia interfered with the Brexit referendum, No.10 have been forced to concede that the result was legitimate.

Therefore there is no evidence that any interference by Russia actually changed the result. Why does Burnham keep doing this? He shoots his mouth off for likes, and then others have to clear up the mess. I almost felt a bit sorry for the minister doing the media round this morning.

I still don’t think Burnham is thick, but he takes contradictory positions frequently, and I do increasingly wonder about his ability to process thoughts at speed. He must have known before he opened his mouth that he was making a very controversial statement. And it wasn’t as if he was under pressure and made a slip. He even wrapped his comment up in a claim that he’d taken advice.

So he either didn’t care or he just couldn’t work out that he’d immediately have to retract the words and it only occurred to him afterwards. I’m finding the second explanation more and more likely.

Yep, I'm going with the latter.

Andrew Neil wasn't very complementary. He thinks it was deliberate as Burnham does indeed have access to info that others don't because he's the bloody prime minister. As you say, he wrapped it that way.

I think he’ll say and do anything to try to stay in power.

Bloody hell he’s a liability. He just says whatever nonsense. I missed the media round, should have listened.

The minister was supposed to be talking about support for Ukraine, but was having to pretzel because of Burnham's TRIP interview.

I just heard that I’ll respect democracy statement re Brexit at Makerfield. There’s something even worse in that chummy voice lying so clearly. I can’t bear to listen to him beyond that anymore.

Ikr, and its so blatant and bare faced. I knew he would do this.
I'm so glad parliament is back in session so he can be held to account.

His only talent is making seals clap.

Yep has always been like this, he really is a liability! Burnham will always say what he thinks some people want to hear, then you can see him polishing his halo. Has always been very good at that but unfortunately some people are taken in by him.

Yes agree. They only ever admire middle aged white males.
The worst ones I've read on here were saying she 'sees the black in everything', and using 'chocolate brownie mix' as a euphemism for Kemi. All from the those who think they're oh so tolerant.

You know what they say about the far-right and the far-left. Its a horseshoe.

I remember that comment. It was disgraceful. It’s still standing most likely.

BooHissScarySeason · 12/10/2026 15:52

There you all are! It looks to me as though AB is trying to do as little as possible ahead of that election where he can get a mandate for all his shiny new ideas, but the budget situation is going to force him to take a stand. I still reckon he’ll try and do as little as he can get away with.

I can sympathise with not wanting a Groundhog Day of rushing to ill thought out taxes, otoh, because KS and RR squandered two years, we are definitely more at risk of a borrowing crisis…

scary season alright. I used to love Halloween….

I agree that he wants an unremarkable budget, so letting the economic problems just fester for longer. And then either hope that something turns up or call an election and hope to govern with the Libs and Greens.

Nuthatch26 · 12/10/2026 15:58

Just listened to Kemi's response to Burnham in the HoC. She's on 🔥 😁.

Bringing Burnham back to earth with a bump.

Im thinking he’s of a mind to want to be able to claim his hand was forced by imf/bond markets ‘nothing I could do’ to stoke up a left wing backlash vote against economic liberalism.

given his rhetoric, you can quite see they think this is a plan and that it would play to his narrative. Look, economic liberalism has crashed and burned…

BooHissScarySeason · 12/10/2026 16:02

As for the French….it is hard to know where that ends isn’t it.

Gosh, its set to get even worse then. I hope this unrest doesn't also cross the channel.

The irony is, of course, it was originally the left wing agitators on the streets, in France…

Edited.

It’s a tough one. It shows just borrowing to the hilt does have an end. It can’t all be let’s vote for more of that.

Oh yes, we mustn't call them 'thugs'.

Tbf, the left have been marching in balaclavas and flying foreign flags in the UK too.

Interesting /had a look on Google Maps at Gaza /the pictures make it look like a very desirable place to visit and there are ads for hotels….
I had assumed it would just be smouldering rubble.
