Labour isn't Working - Thread 42

A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government. 💙☕️

We're gearing up for the Burnham budget. 😬

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

Its batshit. Well done Labour, slow hand clap. And Rayner is back in the cabinet?!?! 'Labour' need a new name.
Good to hear that employment lawyers are having such a good time though. 🙄

The last sentence hits the nail on the head - "Any employer with their heads screwed on will be offshoring or automating every job they can.”

There’s a lot on here for whom jobs are not important, sadly for everyone really. Especially private sector jobs.

Re the apology it looks like King Charles has more sense than to listen to Andy Burnham. The latter will have to do it on his own steam.

I think they mean Labour in the childbirth sense these days: A lot of pain, you'll never be quite how you were before, but the sense of relief when its over is massive. .

How can you be a Labour supporter and not care about unemployment? I don't get it.

Hopefully Burnham will get a bollocking off the palace. Its only a few weeks since the head of the security service had to tell him to stfu.

Ha ha love this. 🤣🤣

I would rather go through childbirth than suffer a Labour government.

In the sixteen hundreds the Barbary pirates ripped my ancestors from their beds, homes, villages taking them as slaves. Should I ask for reparations?

Dancing I saw that in the telegraph and also Mathew someone has done a good article on our net zero madness and yet we should be following Norway's model

It’s more about the state than anything. And loyalty to this gov of course.

Apparently employers are not working people, at least according to Chief Secretary to the Treasury, Emma Reynolds MP.

They just see every business as a large possibly global company don't they

Feel so bad for small business owners, they are getting hammered in so many directions currently

How about we agree once they finally end slavery around the world (As we know people like the Houthis are still running slave markets plus at least two countries, then labour in places like Qatar and Dubai etc). Then financial compensation should be paid out by all countries that have ever taken part in slavery.

CandidLurker · 01/11/2026 18:16

I remember going to Mauritius on holiday and it passed between French and British hands. The British had ended slavery and were implementing the abolition across the Empire. French settlers were very resistant to the British bringing it to an end and didn’t want to free their slaves.

Nuthatch26 · 01/11/2026 18:49

The German interior minister has blamed "violent left-wing groups and troublemakers from the migrant community" for demonstrations over the weekend.

More than 100 police officers were injured in Frankfurt as masked demonstrators hurled fireworks, stones, bottles and petrol bombs, according to police. Several shops were looted by masked rioters, including a gun store.

Goodness that is dim. Given how much the U.K. economy relies on SMEs.

CandidLurker · 01/11/2026 19:02

I just listened to Emma Reynolds. She seems to think all employers are companies. She actually said that at one point. She seems to have forgotten about sole traders and Directors of companies who work in their own businesses. Not all companies are plcs.

Just posting this for the comments. I've never liked Reynolds, so patronising and cold.

I’ve never heard her speak before but I must admit I thought she sounded a bit cold/condescending too. Looked her up. She did PPE at Oxford. Seems to have worked in politics her whole life apart from a stint at a PR/lobbying firm.

What, you mean she's never had a proper job and has zero clue what starting and running a business entails? I'm shocked I tell ya, shocked!

Emma Reynolds’s comments just bear out the truth of what was said a few days ago on this thread: Labour does not know about, care about, trust or understand business or the people who run businesses.

Business and commerce is to Labour just a dark cloud of suspicious activity that rains money into the Treasury so that a Labour government can buy votes. If companies and traders start going under and the money from business begins to dry up, and unemployment rises, Labour will blame it all on “billionaires” (🧛‍♂️), tax avoidance, Trump or a previous Tory government. It’s never tax, energy costs or regulation.

Surely considering Europeans “enlightened” and African chieftains “primitive”, is biased and chauvinistic.
