A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government. 💙☕️

We're gearing up for the Burnham budget. 😬

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

Thanks. Benefits and gherkins budget.

This will always remind me of Emily Thornberry and her snobbery. Labour can be like that.

Yes, didn’t some idiot suggest they could ride a bike around to get to jobs?

LupaMoonhowl · 28/10/2026 10:38

DancingFerret · 28/10/2026 10:19

The DM was headlining there will be a bumper increase (paraphrased) in benefits.

😡

I’ve come across this helpful suggestion on here as well.

HelpMyBlackLabradorVotesReform · 28/10/2026 10:53

A classic pre-election give away.

Tbf with any Labour statement or pov it’ll be repeated on here pdq.

BooHissScarySeason · 28/10/2026 11:09

Giveaways will definitely be a sign of an election incoming…

EasternStandard · 28/10/2026 11:11

I’m not sure there’s enough people not on benefits or in a household where someone gets them to swing away from an electorate voting for more.

I hope we can switch towards jobs over benefits but it looks hard.

Then there’s France who have not reined in spending so maybe they can be a cautionary tale for someone.

Honestly from the comments I've seen, people seem to be full of admiration for the French for demanding even more from the state.
Who pays? "The billionaires".

BooHissScarySeason · 28/10/2026 11:21

The billionaires are all holed up in Dubai or Monaco etc arent they? Good luck with that plan…

EasternStandard · 28/10/2026 11:23

Agree the billionaires will be out of there. Here too if we do the same.

SapphireCasino · 28/10/2026 11:26

@LupaMoonhowl ridiculous! I also particularly hate the term unskilled labour but I’ve probably said that here before.

I can’t get my head around the mentality of being disrespectful to the people who are doing the most important stuff. That’s not to do down to anybody else else’s skills…. We are all contributing something. But we are absolutely screwed without certain trades and skills and I’m baffled by the attitude.

with regards to tradesmen going round on bikes, it was suggested by a Liberal Democrat Councillor I think.

I’ve still got R6 music rehash playing. I’ll see the sell in on here it won’t take long ;

HelpMyBlackLabradorVotesReform · 28/10/2026 13:34

Definitely a deck chairs budget. Lots of tiny announcements but nothing of any substance. I think we can probably breath a bit of a sign of relief.

LuckyHazelFox · 28/10/2026 13:42

Kemi is on fire. I dont like the way Deputy Madam Speaker keeps bringing MPs' kids into her rebuking of those talking over the dispatch box.

Kemi has grown into the role fantastically.

Electra10E · 28/10/2026 13:55

Of course, there was no mention of reducing public spending - this trajectory is unsustainable. Billions are being spent supporting people who aren’t working, while increases in the minimum wage are narrowing the gap to the point where earning around 1.8 times the minimum wage can push someone into the higher-rate tax bracket.

More Labour madness.

What exactly have they announced? From what I heard, very little.
I was expecting something on Defence at least.
This is a holding budget, I wonder if an election is coming?
I do hope so.

HelpMyBlackLabradorVotesReform · 28/10/2026 14:03

It turns out the OPR report is the horror show for the government!
