A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government. 💙☕️

We're gearing up for the Burnham budget. 😬

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

Anyone else see this on X yesterday? The real number could be some way north of that shown. All those extra people with no planned infrastructure improvements.

The route is from Ideology to Pragmatism, no loud singing allowed or a fine by a non existing police person will be issued.

I agree, it must be a lot higher than that.

There were some numbers by the supermarkets and the utility companies putting the population numbers much higher than the official.

LupaMoonhowl · 21/10/2026 10:30

And that was only till 2024… two years of Labour government since then…

Christ that's shocking! And in such a short period of time too.

Yes I've seen that too. Some estimates put the population as high as 80 million. Others claim that's not true so who knows. 🤷‍♂️

Whatever the exact figure, its too high for a country with a generous welfare system and free at the point of use health care. It will break eventually.

I’m amused by all the appreciation of Burnham’s pragmatism.

HelpMyBlackLabradorVotesReform · 21/10/2026 13:02

Was it Starmer back at PMQs today? Blame the processes, blame the world, blame anyone but their hopeless policies.

HelpMyBlackLabradorVotesReform · 21/10/2026 13:05

£100,000 national debt for every house is a good way to articulate the impact of the deficits.

Yes that was a good line from Kemi. Not sure Burnham answered any of her questions today, he just kept waffling on his soap box topics. And so much for him ending 'point scoring'.

He really doesn't like scrutiny does he. He looked angry at the question from a con mp about his dealings with the UAE.

I bet. I didn’t listen. He looked very sour in a clip from the other week.

Just like Starmer - ignore the topic in the question and go on about the Tories. He just seems to completely ignore the last two years as it they didn't exist.

HelpMyBlackLabradorVotesReform · 21/10/2026 13:53

On the BBC they had some idiot from the Business Department saying the reason why Jackdaw was only announced now was that previously it had been legally challenged (nothing to do with Milliwatt of course) as the Tories had done it wrong. It was quite amusing as straight after a lady from Greenpeace was like - we are probably still going to legal challenge it again - like nothing has really changed. .

That seems to be rife. It sounds like it’s getting to him more if he’s just leaning on ‘the tories’.

Definitely.

Kemi asked him when he was going to cut spending. He answered by saying that he had cut spending by ditching digital ID! You what now?
He knows that we know that no funds had been allocated to digital ID, as confirmed by Darren Jones.

But in the same breath he said he had cut spending on digital ID but had spent it on electricity VAT etc. Money isn't saved if you spend it on something else.

They squirm like worms on a hook. What a load of nonsense.

I heard Sam Coates this morning suggesting another reason. He said that Red Ed had agreed to Jackdaw months ago, but he wouldn't give the nod while Starmer was still in No.10 as he didn't want Starmer to take the win. (Starmer also wanted to green light Jackdaw).
Miliband wanted to save the glory for Burnham apparently.
