A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government. 💙☕️

We're gearing up for the Burnham budget. 😬

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

I must say I agree with her post. I’ve no bias towards or against anyone’s religion or the Israeli need for a homeland but having read the history of Palestine over the last (circa) 100 years, I do feel they were robbed of their land and their heritage.

I don't agree, but we don't knife each other on here. Plenty of space for that discussion on CITME.

Helm's apparent support for PA is likely to cost Powell his job.

Totally agree this is a nice thread, outwith CITME.

On that note I’m so relieved we have it. Just away from the usual.

On the political stuff it’ll be interesting to see what happens.

The Second Intifada killed 773 Israel civilians, including 120 children, in terrorist attacks.

It's not something I'm personally comfortable with the wife of a serving national security adviser endorsing.

@EasternStandard

Yes thank God we have this little corner of peace.

MN is a bit over excited about the upcoming itv documentary me thinks. 😂

And here Sarah Helm declares her support for prescribed Palestinian Action.

Yep love it.

I used to get the impression many were following closely but maybe they’ve found something else to read 😬

So pleased this thread is here.

Though spouses often have different views because individuals I find normally on politics or their world view they are roughly in same space. Therefore he may very well be as misguided as his wife. As I have said before Labour is still the home of some iffy people that stayed when other iffy ones left.

Well she has not left any room for doubt that she supports then has she

Amazingly stupid considering her husband's job

She could easily have been sly enough in her writing to get away with it like others do. Probably doesn't say much about the level of her work

Neverstopwondering · 16/10/2026 20:08

Just had a look at her post and I am now rather amused that iit was a post from Owen Jones she responded too

Think someone put a curse on him. He keeps getting pro pal people in trouble

I have a lot of sympathy for Powell here.
My dh and I are political opposites in every way. It makes for some interesting debates. 😂

If I was married to the NSA I would keep my gob shut on social media.

There’s just something re how nasty they all are. Idk why they or how they got there, some outrage or unhappiness idk.

In any case you’re all a lovely lot. So that’s good 😀

Yep. Remembering Starmer's HoC appearances during that period makes my skin crawl. Vile man.

I shall raise a glass to Sir Olly tonight. 🍷

Did Starmer lie in the HOC?

Yes imo.
He is suspected of misleading the house twice, but he whipped his MPs to vote against the matter going to the privileges committee.

Yes I agree. People around him probably knew it too hence the whipping of MPs.

Jonathan Powell is considering quitting as the UK’s national security adviser after complaining of “exhaustion and stress”, The Telegraph understands.

The Downing Street aide, whose wife was recently accused of backing Palestine Action, the proscribed organisation, has been “talking about leaving for a long time”, according to his friends.

It comes amid mounting speculation over Mr Powell’s future after his wife was accused of backing Palestine Action.

Edit: For context, Gerry Adams and Martin McGuinness were both invited to Powell's wedding to Ms Helm…

Well that was a bad wedding idea.

Every politician I’ve ever met turns out to be a disappointment. I suppose that’s just the way it’s going to be. That’s another thing I tried not to tell my young ex because it’s just so depressing.

I first became disillusioned with Powell in 2023 I think and then when I found out about the Chagos deal, even more so.

I really feel like everyone from the Blair era was playing a very long game - the game of diminishing Britain as much as possible - and they are back to haunt us in this administration.
