What Amazon REALLY thinks of you

I've just read a hilarious Threads about this.

Go to your amazon account > shopping preferences > scroll down > about you.

Mine is fairly tame "has a cat" "travels regularly" "regularly purchases skincare" etc but some of the screenshots on threads were fantastic -

"Has flat buttocks:
"Likes to buy hats for their dog"
"Had a relationship with La Toya Jackson"
"Has no friends"

What does your amazon think of you??

All of these are pretty accurate:
Maintains detailed nail care routines - I’ve been growing my nails
Creates DIY beauty products - I’ve bought a number of essential and carrier oils
Performs home maintenance projects

A bit of a stretch:
Customizes and restores clothing - I did buy some sewing machine needles

No idea where they got this from:
Abandoned leather crafting project

That last one seems judgemental 😂

Love that some people are noted for washing, and brushing their hair.

Apparently I read crime fiction extensively (true) , craft regularly( nope) , drink lots of tea ( true) and had a concentrated steampunk fashion phase- ok I'll admit to that but I've never been brave enough to wear it!

Mine doesn’t have anything and I use Amazon a lot to my shame.

Home & Family - Probably feeds wild birds
Interests & Hobbies - Feeds wild birds regularly
Departments - bird care
Product Preferences - Prefers budget friendly digital books

Well the budget friendly digital books must be down to all the money I spend on bird food and the fact that amazon email me every other day with 99p book suggestions. I thought it might have noted all the whiteboard pens I have brought for my son who keeps loosing them.

frozendaisy · Yesterday 21:16

Mine knows the teens perfectly but obviously has to amalgamate that with eco household cleaning products

Ifyounevergiveup · Yesterday 21:22

Apparently I’ve recently “increased my raffle habit”.

i bought two books of tickets for my local Slimming World meeting!

(spot on with the rest though tbf)

AIiswatchingyou · Yesterday 21:22

Regular purchases preferred brand Tony chocoloney
Probably has a garden
Regularly builds Lego

I'm now creeped out at how much information amazon has about me. Add in the Alexa data and it knows me better than I know myself.

SingingShrews · Yesterday 21:22

Mines pretty boring, I run regularly, I prefer professional grade art supplies and replenish them consistently, I prefer fountain pens over ballpoint and play tabletop games(that's ds).

Go to AI and ask it to describe poster called <name> on Mumsnet.

I'm quite a nice person according to AI 🥰

Hohofortherobbers · Yesterday 21:33

On amazon I prioritise sleep comfort apparently .

Literate, knowledgeable, self-contained, mildly cantankerous, sceptical of sloppy thinking, fond of books and history, with a dry comic streak and considerably more warmth than the brusque delivery initially advertises.

Terrifying. Seems to be normalising the profiles they're building on us by feeding them to us bit by bit.

Stickthatupyourdojo · Yesterday 21:43

Has a toddler
previously cared for an infant
replaces cleaning equipment systematically
likely has a dog (not anymore 😭)
engages in children’s craft activities
regularly bakes
does nail art (I don’t)
preference for shark products (2 purchases in 5 years!)

what a dullard lol

FurForksSake · Yesterday 21:44

Ridiculous.

What Amazon REALLY thinks of you
Mumofyellows · Yesterday 21:46

Cares for a horse
cares for a dog
Reads psychological thrillers extensively
Likely owns crocs 🤣🤣

Flannelfeet · Yesterday 21:49

Reads psychological thrillers extensively, consistent alcohol replenishment, prefers premium gin, collects iron maiden memorabilia. Yeahĥhh....is there a way to turn that off? 😬🤣🤣

autumnisherenow · Yesterday 21:51

I have at least one adult in the household. Can you imagine the alternative? A kids only household with an Amazon account.

Whatanoddthingtosay · Yesterday 21:54

Mine are pretty mundane but did get

‘Maintains extensive hair care routine’

I mean, I buy shampoo etc but don’t think it’s extensive.

and

‘Abandoned craft projects’

how does it know I abandoned them? 😂

Suzyloo · Yesterday 21:55

Love this! I am not building a comprehensive charging infrastructure like a PP, but I wish I was.

I "read extensively across multiple genres", which is true, but I mostly get library books. They have noticed I "strategically purchase discounted digital content" because I usually only buy the 99p deals :-) I "complete jigsaw puzzles regularly" (true) and "likely live in London". I've had just one address in nearly three decades of shopping with Amazon, and it's in London, so there's no "likely" about it. They know exactly where I am. I'm now wondering where tomorrow's delivery might be going...

TubeScreamer · Yesterday 21:55

It has me spot on

prioritises curl specific hair care
gardens actively
reads fiction prolifically
feeds birds regularly
has a dog
likes quality kitchen equipment

Crikeyalmighty · Yesterday 21:56
