You know the ones. You see their username and think, excellent, they’re here.

Who are your Mumsnet favourites? No smooching required, just appreciation. 😏

Yes - they were very different days!

Waves. They were I still have my badge somewhere we had to wear on one of the Xmas meets

There's been a very long running series of threads for supporting those of us who have been affected by other people's drinking and @pointythings has been fabulous on those.

FuzzyPuffling · 06/10/2026 10:49

I've made some fabulous real life friends from MN. I'm not mentioning their names, but they know who they are.

LindorDoubleChoc · 07/10/2026 04:10

I know loads of people name changed after the big data breach of 2016 ish and also Penis Beaker virtually doubled the numbers on the site, so seeing a name you recognised became a rarer thing.

But there were some posters who have kept the same name for 20+ years who I've realised I never see any more ... like SoupDragon, ShowOfHands, BIWI, HazyJane, OYBBK and indeed AnyFucker.

I will never forgive the banning of MaryZ and still miss her.

BIWI · 07/10/2026 10:16

I’m very much still here @LindorDoubleChoc!

LindorDoubleChoc · 07/10/2026 12:11

Yes! Grin. I wrote my post and then scrolled back and saw you very much alive and kicking on this very thread! Heh heh. Perhaps we both aren't here as much as we used to be?

Yes, one of the posters who has been mentioned is someone I've always assumed was trolling us all!

Edited

I am sure we are all thinking of the same one. A relatively new name as I do notice user names - and name change a lot myself. But the one getting repeat mentions says a lot about those mentioning.

My own is Billy68 (I think that's the name) I haven't seen them around for years but always found them kind and sensitive, yet forthright.

Bluntness100 is missed, but for the wrong reasons 😂

Bluntness100 is missed

Don't worry, my aim is improving.

Chatterlyssecret · 08/10/2026 13:26

Is the lady from Birmingham “Soulsorce” that was trying to lose weight still on the site under a new name? she was a regular several years ago.

daisychain01 · 08/10/2026 16:55

Bluntness100 is missed

Yes like a hole in the head.

Legoninjago1 · 08/10/2026 17:04

I meant to write, is it still a thing to know people. Definitely years ago - when MN was smaller - you'd know names more for just general posting and other posters mentioning them. Now I think this only occurs in specialist threads.

I certainly recognise quite a few Usernames - either because they post a lot, or because they’ve been around for a while , what I don’t remember is whether they are someone whose previous comments I’ve agreed with or not. In fact every time that has happened and I have felt I quite liked a poster, I would see them on a different thread and realise they held completely different views from my own.

It’s definitely true that if you have reason to look back on any very old posts, the chat and banter between different posters is very different to the way it is now. Unless as you say, it’s a long running thread and you feel you actually know someone (or may actually have met them).

I miss AnyFucker.. not seen her on here for ages. I’m not sure I’d ‘miss’ anyone but always enjoy reading Floisme and Judystilldreamsofhorses on S&B. All my favourite mumsnetters have actually become good friends in ‘real life’ - we bonded on a S&B thread years ago and we moved chat to WhatsApp. Been chatting daily ever since.

I remember your name and I used to lurk on those threads - if you mean the what are you wearing ones.

I’ve often wondered if long running threads that just disappear are because people have moved to RL chatting.

Pacificdogwood, Bertiebots, and bagonutsandbolts we’re all very kind and supportive when I was struggling with a nightmare toddler and newborn who wouldn’t sleep, I’ve named changed regularly since then, I don’t see it as being ‘old girls club’ or whatever, I think when people have taken time out of their day to give advice and sometimes their expertise, in a totally nonjudgmental way, they stick with you. Kindness goes a long way, especially when you are in the doldrums and can’t see an end insight.
My toddler is now heading towards adulthood and has become my best friend, and my non sleeping baby is now a great glumfing 15 year old! But I found those early years so challenging especially after my mum died, and those three posters really helped, bagonutsandbolts regularly sent me private messages off the main threads to check in with me, I think she worked in children’s services, and I’m absolutely sure it’s because of her dd and I now have a very strong bond, as there were times I was very close to simply packing my bags and leaving. Sure mumsnet has changed in the last two decades, but there are still some very kind helpful posters, and I don’t see the problem in acknowledging that.

It's been soooooo long since I've posted on any sleep threads. DS1 has also recently turned 18. Always nice to see people from the "old days" though :)
