To feel like my dating life is over now my hinge account has been banned

I got a message from hinge saying my account has been permanently banned for bullying and harassment but I know for a fact I haven’t done any of that. I have had the account for 3 years and never had a report. Now they have decided to permanently ban me with no chance of getting the account back. This has been really depressing for me because it was the way I used to get dates and meet people. What am I supposed to do now?

Just google “how to get around being banned on hinge”.

theres a list of instructions. Get a new burner phone, new email address, new payment method, don’t link new account to fb, etc. don’t use home wifi but use cellular data instead.

I just feel like I don’t onow how to go about meeting single men in real life

So you appeal the ban surely?

I can only tell you about when I was young @Hakuba. We met single men through our work places, hobbies or social gatherings. Can you try any of those things?

Times have changed unfortunately.

The “disco” and drinking/going out scene is completely different to what it was back in your day.

Oh I know 😄 I'm not even sure if there is such a thing as a "disco" now!
I really meant it's a shame if the dating scene is now entirely online now though! What happened to just meeting people in real life? Even in "my day" we had to be cautious!
My Kids agree...they met their partners in real life at Uni parties!

Neither of my adult kids like the idea of OLD, haven’t used them and have met their gf’s (previous and present) through real life. I know dating apps must be handy for a lot of people, but am really quite glad my kids don’t want to use them, and prefer old fashioned meeting in real life dating (they’re in their 20s), just like I did.

I've literally just said the same thing to another poster who replied to my post saying things had changed since "my day" 🤣 My own kids in their 20s and 30s agree...they met their partners at Uni parties!

Yeah that’s fair you deserve to be banned for that

Cancel culture in fine effect. Some people need thicker skin. If you wouldn't fire someone over it: don't ban them either. What happened to warnings for small mistakes??

So you're not going to try an appeal? Ok Then

Seajaye · 02/10/2026 19:25

You have to appeal using their specific appeal process. There's no.point complaining on here. All people can do is tell you to appeal or join other sites. Look at the Hinge appeal process . Use AI to construct a decent appeal letter.

BridalFeastofBethChadruharazzeb · 02/10/2026 19:30

So...... have they responded to your appeal yet?

CamillaMcCauley · 02/10/2026 19:36

Starting to get the feeling this thread isn’t about actually solving the problem.

I am a 52 year old woman coming out of a long term marriage. I am attractive and confident. I do one sports hobby and am in a club for that, I am in a band and we do gigs. I work full time and get out and about through work a bit. I go out with friends occasionally. I go to gigs on my own at least once a month. Go on holidays in my own.

In other words I am out there in the world.

I have not met one single man in the last three years who has been available. Not one. I have been hit on by married men only. If there are eligible single men around my age out there they are well hidden.

People saying to just get out and meet people are being disingenuous. I would love to meet people but I refuse to go on the apps. It sounds horrendous. But meeting any other way doesn't seem likely either.

Have you tried? Most people that I know met their other half at uni, work or church, and presumably you do work so that at least is a starting point? Doesn't have to be colleagues, it can be customers, suppliers, etc, just be friendly with everyone and see how it goes. Or join a sports or hobby club, whether it's tennis, running, board games, whatever - having a shared interest is always a good starting point for meeting people and having conversations. You say you don't drink, but that shouldn't stop you going to pubs etc - I don't drink either but still have spent plenty of time in pubs over the years.

But also, as almost everyone has said, appeal to Hinge, don't just come on here and whine about it. You've got nothing to lose - either your account is reinstated and you're better off, and it isn't and you've just wasted a few minutes of your time trying.

In what way is that relevant to that comment?

No offense but the OP is 28 and you are 52. These are completely different markets.

EmiliaBassano · 02/10/2026 22:01

What on earth could have led to this OP?

willowstar · 02/10/2026 22:03

@CamillaMcCauley ah, good point, I hadn't clocked that. Well hopefully things are easier for the young folk than it is for me in midlife.

Pherian · 03/10/2026 15:22

Appeal it, but if you’ve been on it for three years then it’s not working. I met my husband on bumble - second match I had.

Try Bumble.

Bluedenimdoglover · 03/10/2026 16:12

You are wasting time on here when you should be appealing to Hinge. There is nothing we can do here to help

MyrtlethePurpleTurtle · 02/10/2026 17:28

UK studies indicate that 50% - 60% of couples met online

Between 13% - 20% met through mutual friends

Young adults have a higher incidence of meeting in real life

🙄 50-60%? Hardly a booming majority, is it?

Are you really 28 as you are acting like you are more like mid teens! Appeal the ban, if it gets removed then great, if it doesnt then you are no worse off than you are now. My 4 children are all aged 26 to 36 and I dont think any have met partners on line, they have met in a nightclub, pub or through friends. Yes, a lot of people meet online, my 2 best friends met their husbands on POF but lots of people dont as well. Try a new hobby and see who you meet 😉
